Rare crackling sound at time, not very frequent.
Possible issues with alpha blending/dithering but this could be a Proton/mesa/amdgpu thing that gets fixed later. Only showed up obviously at the Victory screen around the portal and around the portal on the main menu. Unconfirmed if this is different from Windows rendering.

At times, massive artifacting is visible that seems to originate froms pecific obejcts or the camera center. Hard to describe but it can get really bad and make it impossible to see at times. Might be an RDNA3 issue.
Lens flares seem really bugged for me too.
RAM usage went up to 30GB+ and caused massive stuttering after a decently long play session.

proton-ge doesn't seem to fix the movie playback issues. Movies had to be disabled in the launcher to avoid crashing.
When running proton-ge the menus also would automatically scroll to the bottom grid row (for items and equipment), but this behavior does not occur on Proton Experimental.
Enabled win7 mode via protontricks since the game had a message at start saying it would run better in win7 compatibility mode.
Does not launch OpenXR properly.
Game freezes upon loading at the OpenXR splash screen. Often either crashing SteamVR completely (black display and an error message on SteamVR) or causing the entire graphics stack to freeze and thus require a reset of the entire system.

Limited TDP to 5w for stable 90fps and some battery savings.
After using touchscreen you'll need to hit a gamepad button to get it to go back into "gamepad mode" for menus.
Sometimes research menus for adding items in areas like the Town Hall or other buildings would not properly act as if I was clicking the box shown by the UI and go to some other menu item or scroll to another item.
Sometimes items/hazards would be hard to select with the gamepad controls, but this likely isn't steamdeck specific.
Battery lasts ~7hrs when limited to 5w and running at 90fps.

EAC doesn't load. Can't start in offline mode either.
All gamepads (ds4, xbone, etc.) would not be detected until I completely wiped compatdata for the game alongside a forced re-initialization of its proton environment by switching from Experimental to GE and then back again alongside a Steam Download Cache reset.
EAC will launch correctly once and then all subsequent attempts with Experimental will fail to load EAC. Ended up doing the simple renaming trick to force EAC to not run and thus cannot play online as a result. Hoping this gets ironed out soon.

Steam cloud sync would fail after some crashes, requiring a hard reset of the wine prefix directory via switching back and forth between Proton versions in Steam.
Ever since EAC started working for Proton and has been in use, the game has had occasional crashes and freezes, seemingly caused at random by certain new effects or shaders loading in (ie: hitting a random rock and sparks appearing).
My belief is that playing the game offline and bypassing EAC was much more stable, but that was for the first few dozen hours of the game whereas the rest of the 100+ hour playthrough was with EAC active.
Server issues aside, multiplayer seems to work as intended.

Must delete cache files and comaptdata/shadercache dirs just to have the game make it past loading the RE Engine screen. Otherwise, the game instantly crashes on any boot after the first successful one.
Game does not boot after the first successful load. See config details: TLDR is that the caching seems absolutely broken after some recent update. The game used to work fine before with mods and everything, save for the occaisional blackscreen after eating dango.
Major issue with caching is ruining any current desire to play the game. Occuring on two installs where I was using mods before, no longer can use REF at all; let alone boot after the first shader compile session is closed.

As stated: When using Nvidia driver 515.57 or 515.65.01 the game was unable to start after a first clean boot whenever the vkd3d-proton.cache files were present. Removing them would allow the game to start when unmodded. Mods would never load successfuly on these drivers due to a lack of pre-existing cache.
After downgrading to the current stable Nvidia driver on Gentoo (510.73.05), the game launches just fine and even works with mods as it did before both my Gentoo and Arch installs received the 515.57 driver.PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1

Workaround for launcher here: https://www.reddit.com/comments/y49vcz, courtesy of this report: https://www.protondb.com/app/1361210#l0WHF104hE
I think all you really need is the user_config pregenerated, but I didn't test doing just that alone, as I also removed the Edge webview installer.
Get around 40-60fps on High at 1440p with motion blur off and Nvidia Reflex on.
Not sure how to verify if Nvidia Reflex is working or not but it lets me pick it and doesn't crash!
Game doesn't seem to run well at 4k.

Artifcating that looked like tri/polygon stretching; Vanishing corpse models that were probably related but would appear back in the proper spots at times.
Had a complete driver freeze/crash that spit me back out to my display manager. Had to reboot afterwards.

No issues to report.
Unskippable, broken intro video.
Game menu and graphics all work fine. Intro video just doesn't play correctly and sounds incredibly slowed down. Cannot skip it whatsoever.

Video for tutorial boss wouldn't load the first time, but restarting the game fixed that. Not sure if this will happen further on or not.
Videos may pose issues at times but Proton Experimental (Bleeding-Edge) appears to be solving that.
Played the demo which was locked to 60, 30 for cutscenes. Here's hoping the full game lets the frame limit go higher and perhaps mods for cutscenes get made to unlock the framerates.

Video bug might've been fixed in Proton Experimental (Bleeding-Edge), as I wasn't able to recreate it towards the end of the game while learning all wizardry spells. This scenario would've had a very high likelihood of causing the bug to appear which is why I want to assume it might've been addressed.
Game ran pretty great at 4k 120hz on a 7900 XTX, but did seem CPU heavy in some areas for my 5800X such that my GPU wasn't seeing full utilization. I generally stayed in "FPS Mode" since "Resolution Mode" ran considerably worse in some areas, which may be related to the GPU not being able to hit full utilization in my setup.

Saved games from the past have been totally wiped. Sometimes a save was not loadable or would crash upon loading and require reloading multiple times.
Game sometimes crashes, requiring a restart and reload of a save (see save problems).
MangoHud does not work well with this title, likely due to the launcher that spawns beforehand.

It hitches quite a bit when processing turns or seeing new assets, not sure if this is Proton specific or not.
Only kernel I am able to run this game on without having the amdgpu drivers freeze is the amd-drm-next
branch.
Note: My experience was with the Xenonauts 2 demo!

UI scaling for a 4k monitor leaves text and graphics a bit blurry/pixelated, but this should be unrelated to Proton.
Doesn't launch; Fails to find Vulkan extensions.

Display.cpp:416: std::vector<const char*> proxy::video::Display::getRequiredExtensions(): Failed to get required Vulkan extensions. Please update your graphics driver by visiting your graphics card manufacturer's support website.
Doesn't work at all under Native Linux build nor Proton (access violation error there immediately upon launch).
Assuming you're fine with the boring gameplay, it runs fine. You can use external VOIP instead of ingame to remedy that issue.
Voice chat doesn't work on Linux at all.
100% Grass caused stuttering vr view when looking side-to-side on a system that has a 5800x/3090. 75% seemed fine but overall the graphics don't warrant that kind of performance.
