install and play

Um ótimo MMORPG das maiores franquias do mundo;
Funcionou perfeitamente

runs great out of the box, didnt need to do anything.
runs perfect

gamescope -W 1920 -H 1080 -f --backend sdl -- %command%
Gamescope is required. Without it i got frequent crashes.
When turning the view with right mousebutton the input would sometimes result in looing straight into the sky. However, this might be an issue with gamescope + hyprland
IMPORTANT: If you have an AMD graphics card make sure the package lib32-vulkan-radeon (or equivalent if you are not on arch) is installed. This fixes the Blackscreen issue when launching the game (at least for me).

Game used to work 3ish months ago, is now borked to hell and back
Got around to reinstalling the game after completely wiping my system. At first the launcher wouldn't even work using GE, so I switched to proton beta. Launched to the launcher, went through log in, then fired up the game. Nuthin, just a black box. Went to proton 7 (due to other reporting potential fixes), game laucnhed and showed intro cinematic, then showed a loading screen before character select and froze. Wiped the prefix and went to experimental, same thing. Props to the game devs for borking a game that ran almost as well as the windows version.

XKB_DEFAULT_LAYOUT=de XKB_DEFAULT_VARIANT=nodeadkeys gamescope -W 2560 -H 1440 -f --prefer-vk-device 1 -- %command%
Normal Hyprland/Wayland shenanigans that can be fixed with Gamescope and/or the Hyprland config (~/.config/hypr/hyprland.conf
)
Would work totally fine out of the box. Gamescope is necessary because of the "normal" Wayland/Hyprland shenanigans with monitors and incorrect max. resolutions.

When playing in windowed mode switching between different windows would cause the lighting the flicker a bit. It is not noticeable, but I just wanted to mention it.
The overall experience is very good except the minor flickering in the background when playing in windowed mode and going to focus back and forth between the game and other winows on your second screen.

PROTON_LOG=1 gamemoderun %command%
Initially, Star Wars: The Old Republic (AppID: 1286830) wouldn’t launch on Linux Mint 22.1—stuck at “Launching” with no logs. Forced output revealed early Proton failures. The launcher later errored out, and Proton 7.0-6 got us to the game client, only to crash before character selection with BugSplat. Steam restarts added chaos. A fresh prefix and Proton Experimental, paired with PROTON_LOG=1 gamemoderun %command%, finally nailed it—character creation loaded, game stable. Credit to Grok 3 from xAI for the clutch assist!

Could not log in (hourglass) with newer versions of Proton.

Works flawlessly OOTB.
Long live the Empire.

Support for the game needs to be added to the version of proton that is automatically used, as it stands now it is not plug and play. Requires users to be knowledgeable enough to find out which proton version works (7.0-6) and to go into the settings to change it. Higher versions trigger a vc runtime error
I'm glad it works at all honestly, and so well all things considered, but you shouldn't have to go BACK versions to get a game to launch.

All good!
Long Live the Emperor!

Ran just as fine as Windows, and I'm pretty sure I even got better loadtimes. Fair warning to people switching over from Windows: you will have to redo all your interface customizations and preferences except for, a surprise to be sure but a welcome one, keybinds.

I needed to install lib32-nvidia-utils; otherwise, the game launcher would display as a black window. After installing it, the game runs perfectly.

The only part that's bugging me is that I have to scroll through and accept the EULA every single time I launch the game. I have tried the supposed fix from the Reddit thread down below, stating you can work around this problem by manually adding the eula.settings file to the game's directory. This did not fix the issue for me. Maybe it works for someone else, though. Here is the link to the Reddit thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/swtor/comments/17ni7h3/have_to_accept_eula_every_time_after_logging_in/
Flawless OOTB on Linux

Works flawlessly.
The only issue I have is a known bug for the EULA, which I have to sign every time I login. Supposedly this can be fixed by downloading the non-Steam client but I have not tested that yet.

mangohud gamemoderun %command%
No issues with online functionality.
It used to freeze my system during dialogues but that seems to be gone now. Was able to play through the entire first planet in a session without encountering the same issue I had almost immediately upon starting the first few conversations.

Game does not launch due to dot net errors with Proton 9

I can not tell a difference between my windows machine and my linux machine. The game run s just as good as it does on windows.

swkotor.ini: under [Graphics Options] FullScreen=0 AllowWindowedMode=1
fixed with windowed mode

Works out of the box, no problems

PROTON_USE_WINED3D11=1 gamemoderun %command%
No issues, plays excellent and can replace Windows
Running with Proton 8 and D11 allows this game to run as if it were Windows. No stuttering, no lag, no graphical glitches.
Works great
Works flawlessly out-of-the-box!

Game runs fine, but it asks for EULA agreement every single time I start it up. Reddit tells of a file overwrite that fix, but didn't try it

Minor crackling here and there, probably due to connection
Shift+6 doesn't work at all. Had to rebind my quickbar.
Game simply freezes during some conversation cutscenes. Checked CPU usage and it drops, indicating the game gave up responding.

tinkering only did minor improvements to an already well working game (slightly higher fps with gamemode and newer Proton installations)
stay on login screen forever

Out of the box, no issues
No problems with multiplayer at all
No launch options, no forced proton and nothing at all is needed here
