good game - good performance - native
I don't know why everyone plays the game with Proton ... it runs wonderfully as a native version, even if that is not indicated in Steam

To add to my previous report: The issue with Alt+Tabbing to other windows seems to be fixed by switching to X11. It seems to be a bug of Wayland only. That's why I couldn't find anyone else who has it since X11 is mostly used.

LD_PRELOAD=“” PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 gamemoderun %command%
Be sure to add the launch options

Runs great out of the box

As long as I just play the game there's no problem at all, but when I want to Alt+Tab and use Discord or something else, their windows freezes (The game doesn't freeze, only the other windows being alt tabbed to) they need to be minimized and opened again. I'm on KDE and I haven't found a fix for that so far but there might be a way. As a workaround I can Alt+Enter before alt tabbing, the switch between fullscreen and windowed seems to release the other windows from getting stuck.
Much more than playable, very fun experience. Recommended for a linux gamer who likes or wants to try ARPGs.

After the 1.2.0.1 and additional hotfixs started getting really low FPS (Under 35 FPS), but since 2025-04-23 EHG patched something on the servers and FPS returned to normal(140+FPS).

LD_PRELOAD="" gamemoderun mangohud %command%
There seems to be an issue with grass (turn it off) and other visuals. Try setting the graphical preset to LOW, if you run into stutters, and work from there. If you have good fps, but still have occasional stutters, this can help.

LD_PRELOAD="" gamemoderun mangohud %command%
I experienced stutters, and bad performance after some time playing. It seems to be something related to grass quality (i've turned it off) and/or other graphic settings. After running on graphics preset "low" it works without problems.

logitech G305 side mouse buttons dont work - might be an issue on windows too
(Low setting) FPS can drop to below 50 I've even seen 5, black wukong benchmark shows 120fps average.
Fails to start sometimes, applied launch options. Will crash occasionally with 'using a lot of memory', seems to be resolved by the launch options though.
fluctuating fps is the tldr; still playable

Works flawlessly
Experienced launch issues before switching to Proton Experimental; the game would only launch about 1/5 times. The game was (and is still) flawless once launched, both in offline and online modes.
LD_PRELOAD="" %COMMAND% -force -d3d11
Works a little worse than on windows. Due to proton bug LD_PRELOAD="" is required, or the performance will degrate within an hour even more.

HOST_LC_ALL=ru_RU.UTF-8 %command%

Proton experimental, works out of the box. I've found sometimes the game doesn't actually launch, so I just 'Stop' it and run it again and it loads fine.

Stopped detecting right click or rendering attack after about an hour of play

Some framedrops when on the main city at the beginning. Nothing huge during gameplay.
No tinkering options. I do not know why all my reports are labeled as tinker reports.

PROTON_LOG=1 %command%
Needs command listed to actually start, otherwise will just be set to look like it's starting on Steam but never actually doing so. Actually can work fine if you launch Steam in a terminal, it just seems like it needs a way to output stuff, I'm not sure.

The game is only at a playable performance level for 1--2 hours before degrading to the point of unplayability.
LD_PRELOAD="" gamemoderun %command%
Offline Mode. Severe performance degradation over time. Changing graphics settings does not affect degradation.
I have not had luck fixing these performance issues by changing my Nvidia driver—tried the whole suite from 550.xx to 570.xx. Nor does tinkering with my Proton version worked—tried experiemental, hotfix, and GE. This issue has always existed, but it is exponentially worse with patch 1.2.x.

LD_PRELOAD="" PROTON_LOG=1 %command%
Cities have some noticeable fps drops

After the latest patch 1.2.0.2 only way to get the game to launch is with debug launch option enabled, PROTON_LOG=1

Remember to delete the log files so they dont fill up your disk.

PROTON_LOG=1 gamemode mangohud %command%
At first I couldn't get the game to run no matter what I did, so I came here and someone had noted using PROTON_LOG=1
so I tried that, which worked for some reason.

LD_PRELOAD="" game-performance %command%
The game sometimes launches, sometimes it doesn't.
Proton GE fixes the stutters and I highly suggest people use this over Experimental when it comes to DX11 games.

PROTON_LOG=1 %command%
Game did not launch unless PROTON_LOG=1 %command% was put as an launch option. Otherwise played fine.

Not linux specific

LD_PRELOAD="" mangohud %command%
Works flawlessly.
Add this to your kernel parameters, it will disable APST (Power saving) on your NVME, so it is always ready to deliver from the shader cache.

Works well with proton GE. LDpreload launch param fixes lag after ~1 hour of playtime. Played for 3 hours straight with good fps and no lag.
LD_PRELOAD="" gamemoderun %command%
Shadows significantly affect performance. Turn these down as low as possible and keep the other settings normal. Endgame can get choppy, but it does that on windows too. Arguably more here.
The first time you open the overlay map, there's a freeze for about a second.
Proton GE and launch options are needed.

At some moments there is a drop in fps and after that the fps remains low
At some moments there is a drop in fps and after that the fps remains low
Runs beautifully

Wouldn't launch without switching to Proton Experimental. Runs perfectly.

A few FPS drops on endgame maps when there's a bunch of spawns and effects but hard to blame Proton as I've been running on Ultra. Slightly better performance with GE.
Game will crash occasionally when killing Monolith Bosses and Harbingers, losing all rewards so far.

Works fine enough for low to mid level area and skill effects. Expect slow-downs in lv60 to lv80+
About 8 or 10 watts TDP w/ 1000 MHz GPU manual clock. Optimistically, this might net 3 hours.
Played with a spin VK and totem spam shaman - it can bring the FPS to a crawl.

In this state it is unplayable, tried default proton and experimental, both are horrible
Flickering textures, missing textures in minimap
On my machine later monoliths run at like 15fps. Pretty much unplayable. GPU utilization is at 100% all the time, doesn't matter if it's the starting screen or actual gameplay.

Not sure if it's the game engine, but it's slow at full graphics, so I had to tune it a bit down to have above 100fps.
