First time selecting fullscreen might cause game to freeze. Close and reopen and full screen should be working.
Steam overlay doesn't work at time of report.
Use LD_PRELOAD="" %command% in your launch options otherwise the game probably won't open. The perfomance issues that occur in windows for this game occur in linux it seems. Not much that can be done other then messing with the settings.

As of the last update the game is no longer able to load the launcher
Game now hangs indefinetly before loading the launcher. Tried Proton Hotfix, Experimental, 9.0-4, and GE-Proton9-27 removing compat data between tries. I also verifyed files, reinstalled the game, disabled steam overlay, and followed the launcher bypass command available on pcgamingwiki, but nothing remedied the problem. When using umu-launcher on Darktide.exe I'm able to get to the title screen, but then am unable to communicate with the fatshark servers.

Tourne parfaitement

No issues out of the box on PopOS AMD System
I was surprised how straightforward it worked. the popup menu is blank, but game worked fine and settings could be adjusted there. Had to change to fullscreen as it was displaying a 1080p window inside a 4k screen.

LD_PRELOAD=" " -use-d3dx11
Disabled raytracing in config file
In the Mourningstar (lobby), it just about gets 60 fps regardless of graphics settings, but something feels off, like its not really 60. In an actual match, I get between 20-30 fps, again, regardless of graphics settings.
Scaling of lower resolutions than the desktop default worked weirdly and would many times result in a rectangle in top left corner instead of filling the whole screen

the game runs smooth with the latest GE-Proton9-27 I found other versions game me performance issues.
I will continue to try the different versions of proton but the one that gave me the best experience was GE-Proton9-27 I will go back and try 9.0.4 again with my graphic settings now set to how I like them I might see similar performance with that version.
Works fantastic

9 out of 10 times AMD driver crashes after a few Seconds in Operator Selection.

I tried different GEProton and SteamProton Version, aswell as different Launch options.

With all the visual bugs appearing almost all games it can be a real pain to not have a room load or weapon impossible to aim.
Randomly the sound can cut until restart
Missing texture / not appearing making some weapons / decorations looks like a mass of triangle
For some reason the game can decide to run VERY slowly / poor performance
Mostly happened with Proton hotfix
The texture bugs can make some weapons unusable, door appears closed but is open, ground not appearing, randomly freeze and slowdown.
For some reasons Windows has at least twice the performance and wayyyy less visual bugs. My fps are so low i am forced to put the game at medium / low and enable nvidia reflex + FSR to have a " fluid " experience who has 1 chance on 3 to start lagging and freezing when hords appear. ( Third difficulty ) The texture not appearing can be huge : Stairs and walls. Weapons have the bad habit of not loading properly and appear as a mess of pixel hiding the sight. More rarely the game will cut all sounds from the played character.
Proton Hotfix / 9.0-4 have similar issues, tho on the older version of hotfix it was unplayable.

LD_PRELOAD="" %command%
with the added launch option it works flawlessly
Darktide is more stable on my Linux installation playing through proton than it is on my Windows installation. Not sure how, but it is.

Game is flawless with LD_PRELOAD="" in launch options. Without it the game starts lagging after about 30 minutes and needs restarting.

Played 78 hours with Xbox controller with 0 problems
Having DLSS frame gen enabled doesn't work and causes extreme stutter.

The only way to progress past the proprietary launcher is to tap the very bottom of the screen and pray you hit the button. Usually takes 3-4 tries.
Darktide was rough early on, but now it runs well and even looks good at the lowest settings. You can comfortably enjoy the game this way. Tinkering highly recommended to get the extra FPS.

after some tinkering it's a good experience with some minor performance issues due to bad optimization
mangohud gamemoderun %command%
substantial fps problems and stuttering. Fixed by enabling frame generation and disabling RT options in the userconfig file.
sometimes connection issues, but probably due to game servers

runs as well as it does on windows (not very, until you turn on framegen, which does work fine). for some reason there's some faces of the dropship that don't render on some stages, but that's the literal only issue

Runs quite well with default settings. GE proton seemed to help with stability issues, but the game itself is poorly optimized and buggy
Stutters when enemy hoardes load, heavy frame drops on particle effects
Crashes more often, but the game already crashed for me in windows

LD_PRELOAD="" mangohud %command%
had to force LD_PRELOAD="" at launch, otherwise after 20 mins the game becomes slideshow on steroids (frametime goes bananas)
No issues, same as Windows
With launch options, game runs great. Same as Windows, if not better in loading times. Playing in 4K native resolution max settings except RT. Upscaling (both FSR and XeSS) also works very well. Not suggesting FSR Frame Gen as, though working, gives flurry icons effect while moving. RT works good but hammers performances, in 4K needs upscaling in Performance mode to have decent framerates (same as observed on Windows as well). 200+ in-game hrs on linux and still playing.

gamemoderun %command%
So you need to play the game first on a 7.x proton version (for the shader cache to run good) You will run into a steam servers connection issue (in game... this is normal) Then you can switch to the 8.x proton version (both GE and valve one) to be able to play on an Intel ARC Gpu. For whatever reasons, the 9.x proton version and experimental ones doesn't work (Mesa Issues, but Intel devs doesn't care, same for Elite Dangerous)

--lua-heap-mb-size 2048 LD_PRELOAD=""
trail on the servo skulls and some windows have clipping texture artifacts
i tried without the launch options and would crash every other match. raytracing also seems to cause crashes.
use the launch options. disable raytracing. otherwise you're in for a bad time.
Works out of the Box

I have played this game on 3 different distros, with and without mods and have clocked in 700 hours on Linux with another 1000 on Windows and I can say the performance is slightly better for me.

--lua-heap-mb-size 2048 LD_PRELOAD=""
Inconsistent framerate, very jittery.
Changing graphical settings in hub can cause game to completely crash. Graphical stuttering present.

Runs out of the Box
I Installed a fresh CachyOS (03.feb.25), Steam, set proton to default and used the Darktide installation from my Win10. It needed a update, first start gummy but then everything went well. Only few random fragments and missing Textures. I got even a FPS boost and a much smoother expierience, less framedrops. i think its because my Win10 installation is very old and heavy. Updates will follow

Before tinkering I would just relaunch the game in-between matches, now with the tinker step I don't have to.
LD_PRELOAD="" %command%
The Preload bug is a bug with Steam on Linux and it makes games start stuttering after 25 - 45 minutes on gameplay. It often affects Unreal Engine games. I run the game with this command, but the bug may have been fixed with the newest Steam version.

LD_PRELOAD=""
Before adding the LD_PRELOAD="" launch option i would have input latency even before the frame dropping issue.
Previous versions of the game used to run great till a recent update to the game that added a "Record your Game" feature where it would cause the game to have really bad frame drops and overall made the game slow down to a difficult to play speed. See thread here - https://github.com/ValveSoftware/steam-for-linux/issues/11446
As for my report i did not need to run the lua heap launch option, it did not change performance. Thank you for the DarkTide Reddit community for finding my solution and hopefully my findings help others get this game running to a better state.

Framerate halved
Roughly half of the expected framerate given my hardware.
Game crashed when changing graphics presets from Low to High

--lua-heap-mb-size 2048
Switching between resolutions caused the game to bug out and the entire system seemed unresponsive, prompting a hard reset.
The game doesn't achieve close to tolerable framerates without heavy DLSS (we're talking ultra performance) or equivalent and framegen.

Runs well out of the box, with some fps drop
Sometimes drop fps, but not significant, overall runs smoothly

Even on a 4090 this game's performance is mixed. I didn't have as many issues on Winblows but on Linux it seems microstuttering is prominent
--lua-heap-mb-size 2048
Expect sub-par performance with this title, then again this game is not well optimised to begin with. Noticing SIGNIFICANT microstutter despite turning settings down, even on a 4090.

Very little if anything is out of the ordinary. Mods are even supported with a special linux mod loader.
A common bug for all people is to occasionally be unable to connect to servers. Rebooting the game fixes it. Seems to happen to me 2-3x as often as windows users. Unsure if linux is the cause.

Experiencing significant decrease in performance, where graphics card is working at near maximum even after lowering settings from high-ultra (everything on except RTX) down to medium.
I was running this game on Nobara 38, but skipped updating Nobara and jumped over to Fedora, so perhaps there is more optimization I need to do for games to run as well as they did on Nobara.
I thought it was the current update's reported issue with memory leakage.
Framerate dropped to low FPS beginning around the 40 minute mark, then staying in bad performance until I restart the game. I think that's because my graphics card usage was pegged at 100% and I was unaware, then turned down settings.
I'm pretty certain there is more I can do to allevate the issues I'm having.

Runs **well** on the recent Proton build out of the box. A little slow down here or there, but it clears up as you play.
The launcher doesn't seem to be supported on Linux, but shaders pre-load properly.

nonfunctional
Game doesn't even get to the main menu before freezing and forcing me to do a hard reboot of my PC.
gamemoderun %command%

I can assume that the FPS is a little lower and a little more unstable than on win10, I have seen in reviews that the average FPS is 10% hig

Runs vastly better than my Windows 10 dual boot did, no crashes and no stuttering on better settings than I was playing on there.
