This game is continuing to perform excellently on Proton with no feature impairments or issues.
Borked due to EAC.
Should be fixed in an upcoming Proton patch. Works well on GFN via a browser.
Seems to be working fine as far as my limited tests can show.
No official confirmation from the devs on AC support, but they have manually added a file to the depot that is ONLY used for supporting Proton. Observing Proton commits also shows some tweaks to improve support for Apex. I think this game might continue working.
Works almost perfectly out of the box.
Occasionally the game hangs on first open, close it and open again to bypass this issue.
Perfect OOTB experience, anti-cheat support is enabled on Proton.
BattlEye is present but it officially supports Proton and works out of the box.
Works as well as it does on Windows.
To use a keyboard, you have to go into Settings > Multiplayer and set Keyboard Player to 1.
EAC no longer works. Cannot connect to multiplayer servers.
The developers have adjusted the EAC settings in some way, which means that it no longer works on Linux. This game is unplayable.
Ran better than it did on Windows. Great experience, works perfectly at 60FPS.
Menus are still a little laggy at times
Out of the box, proton does not require any launch arguments to make sound work (-sdlaudiodriver pipewire
is required on native). Proton seems much better optimised than native - on my system anyway.
-vulkan
Some missing textures with default renderer, adding the vulkan flag fixed this.
Not significant, but shader compilation stutters that would make competitive play a no go for the first match on each map. (Vulkan only)
Multiplayer works as well as on Windows. No latency difference or noticeable issues.
Unable to get the game setup properly. There was an issue with getting protontricks to configure vcrun2019 on my system.
protontricks --verbose 1715130 --force vcrun2019 seems to work for most people, but for me the game still silently crashes.
Overall a very solid experience, working nicely on Linux with few issues.
A few issues, but mostly resolvable by tweaking in-game settings. I have a 1440p monitor, and running in 1080p res was better (hardware issue, not Steam Play)
Despite `easyanticheat_x64.so` being present in game files, the game does not work currently.
I expect the developers will enable something server side sometime soon, fixing this issue.
Works absolutely fine out of the box for me.
Works really well out of the box.
During initial startup the audio was messed up, but by the time the start menu had loaded it had self-corrected.
Game opens as a black screen, no gameplay. Audio works fine.
Tried deleting/editing various files, system configs and Proton version.
Game launches, but it crashes before properly starting up
The game does not play. I believe it is possible to workaround this issue by downgrading to an older Proton version, but I have not confirmed this myself.
See https://www.protondb.com/app/1097150#aRzxJIFk7c for instructions
Multiplayer worked silky smooth
Unplayable without tinkering due to AC issues, but with a couple of small changes you can get EAC to work fine, and the game will run without a problem.

Works well, EAC was functional
It works as well if not better than it does on Windows out of the box. I have not noticed any issues with performance or otherwise.
Major issues with audio on the native Linux build, fixed by switching to Proton
Works amazingly out of the box. Using the Vulkan option provides slightly better performance, but DirectX works fine too.
Should be perfectly enjoyable, the Proton version works significantly better than the native client.
Seems to be a bit rough around the edges, but overall a good experience.
I believe MP was the main cause of crashes
Singleplayer works fine, multiplayer has a few issues and there are some problems with the look of the UI.
Some issues with the UI - The main menu shows a HTML server.
A couple of issues, but generally an okay experience after a bit of messing around.
Perfectly playable with Proton.
Everything seemed to work fine.
Fails to install UE4 prerequisites. Something to do with DirectX.
0x80070538 - Invalid ACL
Working fairly well. The game is still in closed beta, so it will likely improve as time goes on.
Proton-6.13-GE-1
Lacking VSync, not Linux specific
Crashes quite early on.
I do not have an RTX GPU, so it might not work. However raytracing isn't supported by NVIDIA dirvers for Linux, so it may not work even if you do have an RTX GPU.
Works fairly well with Proton. There are a few issues that need ironing out though.
Small crackling in the background, especially in cutscenes. Otherwise it is fully playable.
Lack of VSync support leads to some image tearing.
Fullscreen requires you to press F4 as well as F3 to work properly.
Works fine if you play around with settings a bit and only want singleplayer. Use GE for MP.
Nothing major, but noticeable
Slightly slower than would have expected.
Multiplayer does not work.
A couple of stutters and cutouts during gameplay
Initially launched to a black screen, deleting Proton files and verifying the game files fixed this.
The black screen issue I had seems to be quite rare.
Overall the game was perfectly playable, Spirit Box is the only equipment that does not seem to work properly on Linux.
Voice recognition uses Windows Cortana, so does not work on Linux. (SpiritBox)
Perfect
No issues noticed in more recent Proton releases.
Great experience with friends.
Overall it works really well, there are a few minor issues to be aware of, but the main ones have simple workarounds.
Occasional issue with audio, nothing major and not usually noticeable.
Very detrimental framerate when playing with friends. This can be resolved by setting Texture Quality to fastest, restarting the game and then updating it back to whatever you want after joining the session.
Fun experience on Proton
Didn't seem to have a fullscreen option, unlikely to be a Proton issue
Works well through Proton, if you have any issues with that the native version works pretty well too.
Requires some tinkering to get it to accept alt-tabbing etc (black screen issue)
The video shown between levels as a loading screen stutters frequently.
Multiplayer worked fine.
Works well overall, could probably be optimized to meet the Windows level of performance
Performance was slightly worse than Windows
A decent experience, several issues but overall playable and enjoyable.
Windowing options did not work properly on my system and I had to use gamescope to get windowed mode working.
Slightly lower framerates than would be expected.
No voice chat or on screen banners work.
Fun and playable experience, mileage may vary
Some issues surrounding Alt+Tabbing and occasional crashes
Not very frequent but the game does crash sometimes when interacting with the UI
Everything works fairly well out of the box. 2K launcher caused the main issues - most of which were resolved by restarting the launcher.
Played multiple games with friends, never had any MP issues.
Everything was fully playable out of the box. Noticed some issues with controls when playing on Deck, but on PC it is fine.
Works well with tinkering, without tinkering launching soft bricked my computer requiring a hard restart.
gamemoderun %command%
Crashed during initial loading screen
Going to "~/.config/Epic/PortalWars/Saved/Config/LinuxNoEditor" and editing "GameUserSettings.ini", changing the "bHasRunAutoCalibration" to "True" resolved an issue causing crash on launch.
Native-like performance. Multiplayer doesn't work but other than that it has no issues.
Login failed 500
The game seems to be experiencing server issues, but it looks like EAC wouldn't work even if the servers did
Works very well, the graphics looked a little funny but turns out it was just motion blur. Feels native.
Works perfectly out of the box. Complete playthrough with no issues.
Game instantly crashes unless using ProtonGE
Unable to connect to servers, "Datacenter, searching"
Applying the suggested patch of the launch arg "env OPENSSL_ia32cap=~0x20000000 %command%" (admittedly for intel processors) did not resolve this issue. This may be due to the patch specifically requiring an Intel processor. I will post an update if I discover a workaround for an AMD chipset.
BattlEye prevents you from being able to join MP sessions
BattlEye is not Proton-enabled
Multiplayer doesn't work, this game is orientated around multiplayer.
EQU8
Works overall, there are definite issues and pain points but I have faith that Paradox will work through them.
Typical Paradox performance problems, plus some other issues likely caused by an incompatibility with Linux
Crashes are present. Fairly irregular.
On Pop!_OS the game runs horribly, other distributions do not have the same issue. Likely the system76 scheduler.
Noticeably delayed actions but useable.
The native Linux version should not be used at this point, it has more issues than the Proton version.
gamemoderun %command%
Slight performance problems, managed to fix by disabling Map SSAO
Worked as expected mostly, had some weird lag occasionally.
Does not work OOTB. Can be engineered to work with KDE.
See https://github.com/catsout/wallpaper-engine-kde-plugin for details
Works well, there is also a native version that is much the same.
Lack of VSync caused screen tearing.
Works pretty well OOTB. FSR with Proton-ge does improve performance quite nicely, although does not impact UI lag issues.
Slight performance issues in menu UI, no issues in-game.
