not even opening tryed with diffrent proton virsions but no luck
gamemoderun %command%

game works fine if you use the right launch options , some minor shadow flickering , just turn shadow off
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 %command%
shadows not working great , although turning them off fixes the issue
enjoyable experience

Works fine via Proton. Beatboxing with tilted weapons. Doesn't make any sense but is fun.
Sometimes the mouse pointer does a funny and you have to open and close the map repeatedly to be able to actually look around again, however you can rest assured that this issue is present on Windows too, so nothing Linux specific.
I've read about other people having issues connecting to the game servers, however this only happened to me with one specific server (i.e. same IP every time) other servers worked fine when the matchmaking was gracious enough to shuffle me onto those. tcpdump showed properly arriving UDP traffic (although I don't know the protocol, so there could well be missing packets, it being UDP I have no way to tell by looking at the outer layers), and given I've tried two different network configurations one of which is a literal public IPv4 directly routed to my device I doubt it was a problem on my end. The traffic for that one server also did get routed to somewhere in the US via Cogent so as someone who's literally running an AS I am 100% confident with putting all the blame on Cogent and so should you. The game (and the Linux version in general) is probably fine. It's definitely fun. If anyone who is affiliated with the server providers reads this: move away from Cogent, even if just on principle, they're the worst. Oh, also, this game won't work if you're using DNS64. The game specifically makes ANY requests to DNS but when given an AAAA record it just dies trying to connect instead of falling back to the A record. If your game can't handle IPv6 (which it should, but that's a different topic) at least make it use IPv4 specifically instead of imploding, kthxbye

Can't join the server
Game finds the server, but couldn't connect to it: Server Join Error, IP:PORT
Just works
Runs just like expected.

Occasional stuttering, doesn't hinder gameplay

Somewhat unstable but still runs fine
Game has a decent amount of frame drops. However i have talked to some of my friends and they say its prob just a memory leak issue.
I was unable to queue for a game one first launch.

The game crashes.
Game installs and opens but the game crashes when I start playing the game.

Game Doesn't Seem to Work Anymore
Game doesn't launch anymore.. Black screen then closes.. tried switching to latest GE & Experimental but still nothing.
Looks like the latest update broke the game for Linux. Game is pretty dead anyway.
Works out of the box

Now requires older Proton version
If I use Proton Experimental, the Play button does nothing. Solved go reverting to Proton 8.0-4

PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 %command%
the game only works with opengl(PROTON_USE_WINE3D=1), and the performance is terrible since I can't use DXVK

It work.
A couple textures were pitch black, but that was REALLY uncommon and only happens at one specific location.
OOga booga

I had to switch to Wayland on an Nvidia hybrid setup which (presumably) led to a lot of screen tearing. While not pretty it was playable. On X11 the anticheat splash screen appears, seems to complete, then the game crashes.
Works with anti cheat and had no connection issues.
I wish I'd noticed the anti cheat switch sooner...

It worked
Does no play very nice with tiling WM
My mouse was borked once, it fixed itself later.
This did not work on my custom kernel, it did on the Arch distro-kernel.

Cannot join match
It simpily says:
Server Join Error,
IP:PORT
Nothing in the logs.

LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib32/libtcmalloc.so %command%
I think you need to install the lib32-gperftools package from the aur for this to work. Don't know how other distros handle this other than arch based ones. Search up TF2 linux fix for more info, that is how I found how to fix TABG.

Multiplayer works great, loading in at the beginning is a little bit laggy, but I believe it is the same in windows
Had some issues with other forms of proton but GE works great.

Stable but only if nothing else is open while playing game, performance will crawl
At 560p and FSR, Game Worked At Around 40fps in lobby and 30fps in game (assuming nothing else is open - if there are, the game would crawl at 1fps). Matchmaking works, and got attacked by a man named poppy and multiple french men. Excellent Experience.
proton GE fixes the open inventory lag
PROTON_EAC_RUNTIME="[ replace with $HOME ]/.steam/debian-installation/steamapps/common/Proton EasyAntiCheat Runtime" PROTON_BATTLEYE_RUNTIME="[ replace with $HOME ]/.steam/debian-installation/steamapps/common/Proton BattlEye Runtime" PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 %command%
First, install "Proton BattlEye Runtime" and "EasyAntiCheat Runtime" into Steam search toolbar. Then right click both, Manage > Browse local files, and save this path to add to launch options.

Overall works okay but I needed to turn down my shadow quality and the game tanks framerate hard when I open the inventory in-game.
Multiplayer worked great overall, did not face any issues with EAC when using Proton Experimental.
Runs as native
Lags a bit in the inventory menu
The frame rate occasionally dips, but doesn't interfere with gameplay.
Perfect, because of EAC
Played just like it does on my Windows setup
Game works perfectly now that the game uses EAC
The only buggy part was on my first game after installing I spawned under the spawn island, but I got snapped up soon after and had no issues playing.
runs perfectly no lags, no bugs, no ping, etc
works perfectly
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 %command%
New anticheat (easy anticheat) works well with linux
Only issue is Steam overlay doesn't work
Works perfectly with new switch to EAC + Proton Support
mangohud %command%
SInce the EQU8 anti-cheat has been removed, the game can now run through Proton due to EAC being the replacement.
It's a pretty fun game and now that they've added a new anti-cheat (Easy Anti-Cheat, as far as I can tell) it works perfectly on linux
Just joined a match and it's all worked fine
All in all, it works :)
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 %command%
Multiplayer is working after the February 23, 2023 update.
