On my HD 4400, runs at 60fps at 768p using Proton 7 - experimental gives DX11 Hardware not found. Will run excellet on recent hardware.
BTD6 Is a fun ass game, and doubly so for linux - unless you dont like messing with proton and launch commands for an hour
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
some flickering in the loading areas, but none in actual gameplay
Works Okay But Not Amazing (Which is pretty dissapointing given CS2 is from a company that pushes linux)
-w 800 -h 600 (to start with, no launch options afterwards)
Audio works at the start, then stops after some random period of time. "-sdlaudiodriver pipewire" may fix this
A fair few lag spikes, but could be due to skipping vulkan shader compilation
Expect day one release lag.
Performs: 50fps with some frame spikes with nothing running in the background, much laggier 30fps with something in the background.
Ran at 2880x1800 high details ootb... which isnt happening on intel igpu lmao. Had to use -w 800 -h 600 to force it to a smaller resolution for long enough to adjust settings at more than 3 fps. I changes it to all low at 576p.
Audio issues - it worked at the start... then after some random amount of time, itll just stop all audio. For no reason. -sdlaudiodriver pipewire may fix it but i didnt try.
Otherwise, the game runs decent and multiplayer works, and while im sure the issuses will be figured it, it says a lot about native linux gaming when even valve struggles to get it right.
Genreally around 40-50 fps on 768p on lowest settings, but would drop to 4-5fps for about 20 seconds at a time every 10~ minutes Alt-tabbing or having litteraly anything, like Discord Spotify Or Firefox, In the background would cause crashses or drops of fps to like 15-20fps.
Controller+ Rumble Worked Over Wired + Bluetooth GNOME Screenshots + Screenrecorder Work Well For How Below Spec This Hardware Is Its Decent As Long As Said Before, You Have 0 other programs in the background or dont Alt-Tab
Keyboard Works In Main Menu But Not In Main Game.
Completely Borked.
Every Key Except Esc Does Nothing In The Game
Cant Do Anything asides form launch the game and stare at it, no keys work and rebinding them seems to do nothing
Every Key Except Esc Does Nothing In The Game Without Workarounds
This Isnt Proton Specific (as seen for users here : https://steamcommunity.com/app/1646290/discussions/0/3805026824430992418/ ) but you need to set your ship name as 1 and captain name as 2 or any controls aside from the esc button dont work. neither do controller or remapping the keys. Aside from that, there seems to be 0 compatabilty problems with proton.
Absolutely Flawless Experience
Controller Worked 100%, Rumble And All. 0 Glitches, Locked 60fps, and I expect this to carry through to the full release.
Rat :)
The Game Worked Well, aside from multiplayer being borked, nonfunctional Dpad, and corrupted save.
Around 10 hours in, and im guessing from switching distros (I started playing on Endavour OS on this PC, installed Fedora And Started Agian, Both using Steam Flatpak) My Game Save Got Completely Wiped.
Would Get An Error About Not Being Connected Online/ The Servers Are Down If You Try Play Online
Most of my Controller Worked But Dpad didnt for some reasons, everything else was fine. Locked 60fps, even with firefox, discord etc in the background. Uplay worked fine + i could sign in but i had issuses with multiplayer as noted. GNOME screenshots worked and it was a good experience overall.
Works Well enough after a couple of launches. But hey, we at least have EAC support now so that counts for something.
It Finally Works Now! (well, works weirdly :p)
Performance is terrible first couple of launches
Ran on NixOS Plasma Wayland. First Launch - Just a black screen. Sat there for 10 minutes and nothing Second Launch: Works, could complete campaign and get into a multiplayer game. FPS was dreadful, around 20fps at every setting as shaders were still compiling in the background. Third Launch and above: Works like a dream. Locked 60fps when not recording with OBS. But god damn is this game very CPU bottlenecked - youve been warned.
All game modes work - EAC has officially been turned on for this game. Switch Pro Controller Instantly recognises and mapped correctly, works like a dream. Slightly longer loading times and -10 fps compared to windows, but im sure itll be ironed out soon. Overall impressive for a game that just now runs.
Stable but only if nothing else is open while playing game, performance will crawl
At 560p and FSR, Game Worked At Around 40fps in lobby and 30fps in game (assuming nothing else is open - if there are, the game would crawl at 1fps). Matchmaking works, and got attacked by a man named poppy and multiple french men. Excellent Experience.
