After ALT+Tab it goes from Fullscreen to Windowed
Game just works, ALT+Tab changes from Fullscreen to Windowed but that's all, performs better than on Windows.

On Windows, it was stuttering during some gameplay moments. On Linux - it runs perfectly with buttery-smooth frametime.

awesome to play on steam deck oled

Probably the game not Proton, had the odd blackscreen when going to use the map.
Works very well under Bazzite and Proton

Flawless. I've played about 16 hours on this setup and it has had no issues whatsoever. Launch options aren't necessary to get it running.
--vfs-fs dropzone --vfs-archive patch_win64 --vfs-archive archives_win64 --vfs-archive dlc_win64 --vfs-fs .
I'd rate this Platinum / no tinkering required if I could, but I did use launch options and Proton Experimental. Your mileage may vary.
Works 100% as intended, smooth experience

Works well enough
I'm able to play the game at an enjoyable level, once I get past the bad controls. The only potential problems I've witnessed are infrequent instances of models and sounds not loading, but I get the feeling that's a Just Cause 3 problem and not a Proton problem.

Alt-tabbing forces windowed, can use Alt-Enter to make it fullscreen again
Keys get stuck inputting sometimes, causing many plany crashes
I'm sure that for some it's more stable but it's quite messy for me

Sometimes the audio breaks especially if there are a lot of sounds at the same time, but it could be my system problem as it happens in other games.

Proton 9, works absolutely perfectly, no changes needed. Stable, rock solid FPS.

CTDs occasionally, which is to be expected due to Just Cause 3's inherent instability, however every now and then (about once an hour and a half) it crashes and creates a chain of zombie processes going all the way up to the user's process, meaning the only way to fix it is to reboot.
I will be trying to run the game with other proton versions to see if there is any noticeable difference in stabilty, and maybe fix the zombie-chain issue.

The game works perfectly fine on my system using the nvidia-open-beta-dkms drivers.
The game works perfectly fine, as expected, on my specific system only when using the nvidia propriety drivers. This game will not work, despite endless tinkering, using the nouveau drivers. As far as I can see, this isn't an issue commonly shared among people with similar hardware and operating systems, but I hope this report finds its way to someone experiencing the same issue as me. I typically use hyprland but, using nouveau drivers, this game won't even work with gnome on xorg. This game ran fine on this exact system using Windows, so I have no idea what caused this.

There was unplayable stuttering with mouse movement: Steam discussion with fix
game crashes immediately upon splash screen

Despite the framerate drops it's still totally playable and everthing else seems to be working great.
Frame rate would regularly drop to below 30 and it would stutter relentlessly even when reducing graphical settings to the minimum. Not so bad that it's unplayable but definitely bad enough to be really annoying. Cut scenes are almost unwatchable due to the very low framerate (but no-one cares about those in JC3 anyway)
No problems a simple install and play experience.

Alt-Tab would cause the game to enter windowed mode and change resolusion.
Enemy vehicles would occasionally spawn invisible during, or right after story missions.
Works perfectly aside from above issues, which won't affect most of your playtime.

Tiny bit of lag near the beginning of a session, but stablizes soon after
Will crash if you alt tab too many times
Very stable overall

Perfect!

Crashed once in about 10 hours of play.
Works natively and with Xbox usb controller.

Portable Just Cause 3 is a unique experience. Turns the game into a pick up and play experience so you can cause mayhem at your own pace
Set screen refresh rate to 40hz as the game struggles to maintain 60FPS, but hits 40 just fine.

I had to manually copy over my savegames from Windows.

nvidia-offload %command gamemoderun %command%
Went away after leaving the area and coming back
Did not initially start fullscreen, and may have to change the resolution
Works well; possible tinkering needed, however the fixes are minor.

The resolution was set to something that would make sense for windowed, despite being on fullscreen by default.
My save from Windows on the steam cloud didn't load.

After minimizing when reopening the game it sometimes crashes.

Launched but crashed almost immediately with proton experimental, had to switch to an older version. Tried different commands as well (stuff like gamemoderun %command%
) and it didn't work. The older version of proton works pretty well, haven't noticed any bugs yet.

TDP set to 10 Resolution set to 960x600 with FSR

this game REALLY dosent like mangohud, stutters like hell once you turn mangohud GUI up which means to limit FPS you gotta keep it hidden
unlike just DOSEN'T work 4, this is a great experience

If playing online with unstable connection this game is unplayable. Go offline or have stable internet.
Small changes to fit my preferences.
Restricted to 10-12W TDP. Game guzzles battery otherwise, but can reach stable 60 with TDP unrestricted.
Game has issues with always online "features". The game will show a fidget spinner for a good while before letting you choose to play offline upon disconnection. (Upwards of 5 minutes). Very annoying.
Game has Denuvo garbage DRM, so you will need to check in periodically to play the game you purchased.

Alt-tab or overview crashes the game
Savefiles in the cloud from windows are non-existent
Long freezes and stuttering, specially while on air or explosions (the fun part of the game)
Probably running the game and letting it load more aspects may solve it

all versions of proton other than proton GE 8-6 would result in frequent crashes
you must use proton 8-6 to avoid constant crashes in this game. you'll still see the occasional crash regardless, but I think thats mostly the game's fault and would happen on windows as well
Doesn't launch with Proton Experimental either
gamemoderun %command%

Works great out of the box
Frame drops rarely when large explosions are happening
Also works with mods

Works completely fine with barely any graphical changes, although alt-tabbing is a pain at first but you can get used to it.
When switching windows/alt-tabbing, it would force out of fullscreen and force you to renable fullscreen while switching out of the jc3 window and going back into it to confirm the change.
If you are alt-tabbing and cant figure out how to go back into fullscreen: Alt tab to another window, then press onto the just cause 3 window/icon, and it should allow you to save the setting.

limited to 40 fps in steam gui for a pretty low power draw for such a graphics heavy game.
Stock proton crashed when the game would try to connect to their network servers. Switched to GE proton then it worked fine.
