WINEDLLOVERRIDES in Launch Options
Enabled flick stick. This game does some smoothing and acceleration so its never going to be perfect though. Also different sensitivities when aiming down sight that cannot be modified easily.
10-12 Watts, Fluctuating framerate 40-70 ish. Can hit locked 60 if you don't lock TDP but guzzles battery. I suggest locking GPU to 1100 Mhz.
-NoLauncher to remove launcher.
High polling rate mice and gyros will make this game stutter heavily.
Run this game in Proton, the Linux version is outdated. Cloud saves will not work between versions.
I added mods in. Mostly QOL and fun mods like Sliding and NoMoreLostLoot etc. Needs the WINEDLLOVERRIDES done to work, but is mentioned in the installation guide for said mods.
Works out of the box for English players with GloriousEggroll, small fixes required for Japanese text.
LANG=ja_JP.UTF-8 /PATH/TO/PORTABLELOCALE/run.sh %command%
Deck Experience
ONLY USE LAUNCH OPTIONS IF YOU NEED TO PLAY WITH JAPANESE TEXT
Game runs fine if Language is set to English. Changing Language to Japanese causes no text to be shown. Proton does this game well by default.
But I wanted to play in Japanese so I did multiple things:
- Ran "protontricks 214590 fakejapanese fakejapanese_vlgothic" thinking it was a font issue but didn't seem to work, but I used the same proton prefix so it might be part of the solution so I am writing it here.
- Used this Github tutorial here which fixed my problem and allowed the showing of Japanese text.
Steam Deck Settings:
Set MSAA to 4x (You can go higher if you want but I think it is a pointless endeavour), able to run at 60fps locked with 6W TDP for around 4hrs of battery life.
Runs really well, and launches into game within about 10 seconds. If you mash that A button you'll be ingame exceedingly fast.
Limit TDP to 8W, can probably go lower. Allow Tearing as game forces Vsync. Set GPU to 400Mhz. Running the game @ 70hz locked with the reddit tweak that overclocks your screen.
No Cloud Saves, but you should know how good you are at the game. Not much is lost on a reinstall.
Once it works it works. Problems when using Wine-GE, and the launcher just may update and stop working at some point so beware.
Rockstar Launcher would not accept a login if Proton was not its GE version. GloriousEggroll himself would tell you to use Wine-GE as its technically playing the game from outside Steam but that caused the launcher to bug out and never work.
Even on big screen text can be hard to read, no fault of proton when it comes to rendering text.
At mid-high settings 800p, Game runs well at locked 30fps or a sometimes unstable 40 fps. Drops tend to happen when too many cars or pedestrians are on screen.
It works well for early game. First impressions are great. Late game maps or endless will lag heavily regardless of TDP.
Turned down GPU clock to 400 MHz. Game is not very GPU heavy but will lag late game with no real fix as it hits the CPU hard. Oh well, at least it makes the game easier. FPS is tied to game logic.
Best not to mess with the settings too much or you'll find it hard to navigate. Its possible to make the screen too big and the game will save your too big resolution so you'll have to navigate blind.
Late game will lag more than most pcs will due to slow cpu.
Better played on a faster PC tbh
If playing online with unstable connection this game is unplayable. Go offline or have stable internet.
Small changes to fit my preferences.
Restricted to 10-12W TDP. Game guzzles battery otherwise, but can reach stable 60 with TDP unrestricted.
Game has issues with always online "features". The game will show a fidget spinner for a good while before letting you choose to play offline upon disconnection. (Upwards of 5 minutes). Very annoying.
Game has Denuvo garbage DRM, so you will need to check in periodically to play the game you purchased.
TDP to 4 Watts, Allow Tearing On, GPU Clock @ 400 MHz
Game does not launch pass first load screen if there is no internet.
Game will not load offline and will not show an error, instead choosing to infinitely loop on load screen.
Game will not load offline
Fun, well optimised game, though the Dpad of the steamdeck isnt always the greatest for this kind of game.
Runs well. Game is verified. Only tested in 1v1s, so you might have to up TDP if more players.
8W, locked 60fps, allow tearing, framelimiter off. Allow tearing ON and limiter off should give best input lag. The game has its own vsync so no point vsyncing again.
Matched against American who stuffed a flag up my ass as Barack Obama via the workshop. 10/10 was very funny but I live in Australia so the match was very laggy. Games with friends closeby can be a little bit laggy/rollbacky sometimes but still much better than cross continent play.
Base game + Repentance will work really well. Choose your mods wisely as game will lag if you have too many.
On Screen Keyboard does not work for typing into the fixed Seed menu.
Sometimes Cloud save didnt work right. Was probably a connection issue though.
Too many mods and Steam Deck will have problems. Same can be said for PC, but my gaming PC can support close to 100 or so before lagging. Steam Deck its more like 50-80.
Binding of Issac crashes often when you have too many items/mods. Not the fault of the Steam Deck.
-x 1280 -y 720
runs above 60 hz/fps @ 6-7 watts. used reddit tweak to run screen up to 70hz. game seems to have cap @ 68 fps for some reason.
game is designed for big screen
default audio devicee not respected. turn desired audio device on and off or replug to fix after game has loaded.
use x and y to set resolution below 800p to allow for viewport scaling via QAM. game does not like losing focus and will reset to 1024x768 if you do so. BEWARE!!!
