FOR DEMO: was not getting past the opening screen until I saw someone else's review and put it to 7.06. Then it worked fine
Needs to force compatibility with older proton (did not try any other than 7.06).
Won't run on either Proton Experimental or 7.0-1/6.3-8 forced
The play button shows the "x stop" as though it's starting, then it just cancels back to the play button without the game starting up.
This worked until about 2-3 weeks ago, now it won't start
Crashed once in about 10 hours of play.
Works natively and with Xbox usb controller.
Doesn't seem to be working on Proton experimental, but working on 6.3-8.
Works just great after glorious eggroll 9.23. Tried without and native downgrades on Steam but wouldn't launch
Originally wouldn't run when I bought it when I used to use Windows in early '19. Didn't run on Linux a year after. Seems to be fine now.

Ran 2660x1440 on 3440x1440 (showed up much smaller in a window) and "forced" fullscreen on i3wm. Kind of grainy, but nothing game changing
Windowed was less than resolution stated, but went full screen without issues. Using i3wm, I don't alt-tab, but I could swap to other "desktops" while in pause screen
I tried a number of the launch options posted here (I think four before I got this one right), but this one works just fine.
Had my 3440x1440 resolution option but wouldn't actually swap to it
Just checked and it also works OOTB!
It has some wonky stuff with i3. I put it on its own desktop, but as it took a few moments to load, mod-x to swap to different desktops pulled it to whichever desktop I swapped to. I'd venture that it's more of an i3 issue though, and it shouldn't be an issue for a Linux run with a DE.

I added the command line stuff to attempt to bypass the previous issue where Epic's launcher didn't register achievements in ME2 or 3. It ran just fine with ME1. They have since patched that issue, and aside from a rare mess up starting the Epic launcher (maybe 1 out of 10 plays or less it will not be clickable in the ME launch game menu. I believe it may be due to my WM i3, because fullscreen/full windowed programs tend to get a little weird occasionally), everything seems to work fine.
Limited to 40fps and 10tdp. Playing about an hour uses around 20% battery.
Small text, but readable. Unlike some other verified Deck games... (I'm looking at you, Horizon Zero Dawn!)
Just get some reading glasses for the text, and you're good to go!
Wouldn't run outside of safe mode on GE8 or other Proton options. I guess DX11 was inserted in GE9?
Glad GE9 works, wasn't going to play if I had to rely on D3D.
Boots up a black screen but that's about it. Tried mangohud, mutliple compat options, nothing works
Tried GE, previous versions, nothing works
Doesn't work on Linux
It was significantly laggy for me on Windows with decent hardware, but it's even more bogged down now with my better system.
Cannot choose any option other than fullscreen. May be due to i3?
The game was laggy on Windows when I had a Nvidia 1070 with an intel i7 4870 (I think?) with 16GB of ram. I have since upgraded, and mouse movement makes it nigh impossible to play. Additionally, I cannot change my fullscreen/max resolution to windowed/lower resolution. It will allow me to "change" it, and accept changes, but nothing actually changes. (Also haven't figured where https://steamcommunity.com/app/766570/discussions/9/1735510333038005893/ leads to in Linux.)
Once I got the game running in a window, the game went back to its Windows status. It can be a bit laggy in general.
Had to edit the .ini file to save the non-fullscreen settings. Originally I would change the game to a lower resolution in windowed mode, and it would show the save as being saved in-game, but the it remained fullscreen and full resolution. The game was excessively laggy in fullscreen, and since I'm using i3, it would not "alt-tab" to other workspaces. Once I changed the .ini to windowed, now all in-game changes seem to work and save, and I can mod-# to other workspaces.
Must be online to play. All games are solo, but one can opt for multiplayer competitions (though I haven't tried).
Won't run. Hit play, and it says starting up then goes back to play.
Tried native and command line fixes
It broke. Asked for a refund.
eval $( echo "%command%" | sed "s/2KLauncher\/LauncherPatcher.exe'.*/Base\/Binaries\/Win64Steam\/CivilizationVI'/" )
Booted up fine, tinkered with settings, started a game. Didn't notice anything amiss. Will play more later, but just thrilled the dang thing starts up now.
If you want to use the thumb sticks and buttons, it seems like you're out of luck. Not sure why that's native
It will not use the game sticks or buttons, have to basically use the "mouse" via the thumbpads. Not sure why this is considered native?
Why is any game green listed on Steam Deck if you have to use the "mouse" and can't even "click" with buttons?
Resolution is fubar. Takes effort to get it out of the lower left quadrant of my screen, despite it being "fullscreen" or whatnot.
I suspect i3wm might be an issue.
The clickable icons are where they ought to be, if the graphics were fullscreen as it is set to. But because they're shrunk down, you have to hover the mouse over blank areas to try to get it to target icons that are nowhere near it.
Gotta use a proton fix - I had 9.23 installed (@Lucidae recommended 9.13) so I tried without issue
The game would not use appropriate resolutions without tinkering. I have a 3440x1440 monitor and run i3, but it wouldn't let me do anything with either fullscreen or windowed on said main monitor.
