The startup option is required if you frametimes look like a sharpie and not a pen line.

The game has FPS drop in some islands of the map.
Works perfectly out of the box
Works absoluetly fine. Nothing to report
Played game for hours with friend, no performance issues.
gamemoderun %command%

It just works
Played the exact same as it did on Windows

ocasional stuttering
When migrating from Windows, you may need to reinstall the game

Works great
Work with default setup. No need to change anything. Multiplayer fully functional.
Runs perfectly with no changes needed.

on a bigger rafts there a slight performance hits
I'm playing on low setting (becouse i don't see much diffrences between low and high settings). On my save where i have a big raft the are slight perfomance hist but when i started a new game fps were not dropping below 60

The game worked well with just a slightly low framerate.
low framerates, reduced graphics settings
The game worked well with just a slightly low framerate. I had to reduce the graphics settings. I'm sure I could have tinkered more to get it working better but I had the game almost complete already so I just finished it like that.

a little less performant than on windows, but in my experience it was fine. ive had friend who have had horrible slowdowns, though thats not relevant here
works just like windows
ive seen first-hand that everyone has a vastly different experience with proton on raft so your mileage may vary, terms and conditions apply, see in store for details, all that stuff

R4 to gyro; R5, L4, and L5 to 1, 2, and 3, respectively; left trackpad radial menu 4-9
Sometimes players wouldn't be able to pick up items dropped by other players, fixed by reconnecting.
Game doesn't support game pads, I made my own layout that worked for me. You get 60+ fps on lowest settings on new game but even a sligtly bigger raft will get you down to 40-50. Mid-to-late game rafts tank performance heavily.
Funciona bien fuera de la caja
Some days when playing multiplayer, you have a chance to get stuck in a chest inventory, the only way around it was to either restart the game or wait 80 seconds for the inventory window to time out.
This doesn't happen all the time, so when it does we generally just reschedule for another day and it usually fixes itself. Not sure if its a latency issue or if its something with datetime
Spiel frisst unter Proton sehr viel Leistung, deutlich mehr als Win10

__GL_THREADED_OPTIMIZATION=1 %command%
Without downgrading the graphics, game runs at like 10fps
Stutters
Without the changes, game is unplayable. Sub 15fps in built up sections
perfect, just set it to proton 9

__GL_THREADED_OPTIMIZATION=1 %command%
Without setting the __GL_THREADED_OPTIMIZATION=1 variable, multiplayer dropped at around 5 FPS. Setting it goes back to 80 fps like in solo
Make sure to set the __GL_THREADED_OPTIMIZATION=1 variable in your launch options if you have low fps compared to solo
Was able to play with friends running windows without issues.

very playable, can recommend :3

Raft is still kinda poorly optimized... much better than when I played 4 years ago, but I think i've had atleast one time in the last four hours of playtime I think it lagged out or something and I had to full restart.
Clipping through the raft while fishing/paddling

Had to switch from "umu-launcher" in compatability, to "Proton 9.0-2". Running with umu-launcher was really laggy
the black textures flashing
umu-launcher in compatability = like 5 fps : proton 9.0-2 = like 165 fps
switch from "umu-launcher" to "Proton 9.0-2" in compatability to make it playable

Game played perfectly after switching proton versions. Newer proton versions caused the game to be unresponsive once the main menu was displayed.

Slight performance issues, had to change settings to low for good framerate. Otherwise good experience
Doesn't run as well as it should given my hardware

DXVK_ASYNC=1 __GL_THREADED_OPTIMIZATION=1 mesa_glthread=true WINEDEBUG=-all PROTON_LOG=0 PROTON_NO_WRITE_WATCH=1 WINE_DISABLE_VULKAN_OPWR=1 %command%
Texture, Water and Shadow quality affect the performance the most, needed to set them to the lowest option to make the game playable.
The performance problems are worse in multiplayer. Some agressive parameters are needed for performance.
When the game runs properly (with reduced graphics and agressive launch options for performance), it's a relaxing time to share with friends. But the proccess to get to this point might be too frustrating for most people - like it was for me, when I did give up on it before trying again the next day for pure stubbornness. Needs serious work on performance on Proton, but looks like this won't come from the devs.
I played for 20 hours with 2 of my friends.
Good Game

__NV_PRIME_RENDER_OFFLOAD=1 __GLX_VENDOR_LIBRARY_NAME=nvidia %command%
Played with two other friends in other countries, game was hosted on a Windows machine. Flawless without any issues at all
Launch options are just for DGPU

VK_DRIVER_FILES=/usr/share/vulkan/icd.d/radeon_icd.i686.json PROTON_USE_WINED3D11=1 %command%
Wine did not start, with error 0144:err:winediag:nodrv_CreateWindow, it was hard to find the right option to make it work (see VK_DRIVER_FILES option) to debug this, try winecfg
and wine notepad
on the game's WINEPREFIX to see if it works, if it doesn't you have the same problem.
After that you have to go through DirectX11 error (see option PROTON_USE_WINED3D11), and also white texture on the raft (do not use proton 7.0.6, use a more recent one).
Note: Use custom proton-GE (GloriousEggroll) with option PROTON_LOG=1
to see the logs.
runs out of the box with default proton enabled

Worked like native.
Full story with 5 players.

Worked OOTB.
I hosted the game and it worked perfectly; even loaded faster then on Windows.

Both single and multiplayer work fine
Works great, multiplayer was with a Windows machine but gave us no trouble at all.

I wouldn't want anyone to go through that kind of pain only to try the game and realize it works much better on Windows.
When launched, the game cannot enter exclusive windowed mode and crashes with an error. I had to add -screen-fullscreen 1 in the launch options.
FPS is 50% lower compared to Windows
I'm completely confused, the game in Steam+Proton-GE works 50% worse than in Windows, WHY?? I made all possible settings and the rest of the games work excellent for me, but it is Raft that has problems. On Windows I can make good graphics settings and the extension 1600x900 and get 40-60 fps. On Linux, I have to set the extension to 1280x720, disable the shadow settings and ambient occlusion, and I get 2-3 fps, I have to restart the game and get a pitiful 35 fps with freezes. Pythagoras was turning over in his grave trying to understand the dependencies and everything else, but he couldn’t find an answer why exactly Raft works so much worse in Linux than in Windows.
I personally have one guess, this is the Unity game engine, for example the game Outward has similar problems and it is also made on Unity..
