Aside from a slight tug with the random regression solved by the reinstall it worked smoothly.
The game randomly decided my resolution was not supported. I solved it by reinstalling the game and then it worked again. The bug occured after a new Proton version, but going back to the old Proton version I used before did not fix the issue. Only a reinstall did.
Game crashes after the intro on Proton. Native works fine.
After running the game the intro plays and then the game freezes up the entire system. This forced me to log out & in completely to resolve.
Everything worked aside from some minor issues. - Game controller input with my Xbox One controller via USB was automatically detected.
I experienced minor graphical artifacts when the UI scale was set to ‘Low’ and after the power button (⏻) on the main menu was pressed. The artifacts appeared as slightly distorted textures that flashed briefly before correcting themselves when the mouse was moved. The issues did not appear to occur when the UI scale was set to ‘High’ or ‘Medium’.
I experienced two issues related to the game's resolution:
At first the game initially launched in full screen on my third monitor. The workaround was to switch to windowed mode and then manually drag the window onto my primary monitor. From there one can simply play it as normal or enable full screen in the settings again and it will maximize on the correct monitor.
The next issue was related to the display resolution. Although it was set to match my monitor's native setting, the resolution was incorrect. This was resolved by switching to a lower resolution and then reverting back to my correct resolution.
Overall, these are minor issues that do not prevent the game from being played & enjoyed. I experienced no other issues after playing for about an hour. The issues related to resolution do persist after restarting the game, however.
PROTON_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1 MANGOHUD_CONFIG="winesync" mangohud %command%
Slight minimal ticks of stuttering, probably related to how the game loads the islands & when the game is saving. A single half second freeze under the water, but this did not happen hours before or after, so I am unsure if it's all the game, Linux/Proton or a mix of both.
I played with NTSync on, I did not test with fsync. Absolutely no issues otherwise, none of the performance hiccups are dealbreakers.
