little pine code

Could not get sound working in the Linux version so using with proton 5.0-9 and works great there.
Was able to finish the game.
Used a Xbox series X/S controller via a wired interface. Wireless for that controller did not work for me but that is not a proton issue.
Don't recall having to tweak anything to run the game.
Started and saw a blank screen. Went changed resolution 1920x1080 as suggested in other reports by editing ~/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/21980/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/My\ Documents/Call\ of\ Juarez\ -\ Bound\ in\ Blood/Out/Settings/Video.scr
Restarted and saw black screen but esc/key press got me to menu. In game cut scene are fine
Works fine out of the box. Just have to select the option to continue when unsupported graphics box pops up
It installs and starts up. However when you go to controller configuration it will hang or rather will not register any input.
My advice is that before resolving it, don't switch to fullscreen since it is easier to close the window then kill from console.
To resolve this I when into game settings in steam aka right click on the game and from there selected controller. I enabled steam input. Restarted steam. Then start game. I could now modify the controller settings.
Unfortunately I still cannot get my xbox controller to work.
Played a little. Cutscenes play but gameplay is not fun with keyboard and I think it does not register inputs properly.
Not recommended currently
PROTON_USE_WINE3D=1 %command% -w 1920 -h 1080
Just like below reports. Works out of the box. Videos don't play. I would agree that that deters enjoyment. Did not try workarounds for that
Works out of the box. A nice little free student project game. Played through tutorial
Runs great. Occasional crash. Occasional does not terminate processes and have to manually kill them.
Crashes once in a while. Not a issue since very rare
Occasional does not terminate processes and have to manually kill them.
WINEPREFIX="$HOME/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/39200/pfx" winetricks d3dx9
Looking through the old reports using winetricks to install d3dx9 on 3.7-8 proton worked to resolve cursor and black head issue. Doing that worked for me too.
Did NOT have to specify PROTON_USE_WINE3D=1 to work.
Note: When I ran winetricks it complained I did not have wine32. I tried running it via 3.7-8 and still got the black head. Installed wine32 and reran the winetricks command, which fixed the issue.
I also added width=1920 height=1080 for resolution to my run command. Menu in lowres but the game runs in that resolution. You can confirm by pressing esc and check options in game.
Have not played much but so far intros and videos are playing fine.
Works fine on latest proton.
Font missing in some menus. Not critical
Fonts are messed up for some menu item. I tried going to 5.x proton which fixes the font issue but game hangs
The font is not a big deal since it happens for stuff like difficulty selection. While you cannot see the difficulty you can see the text in the description box so you know the difficulty
Works great out of the box. Xboxone wired controller works great
Tutorial worked out of box. Start of game hung, but it seems like a non proton issue. Added -useembedded to launch options as suggested in one of work around in the link below. Have played for 4+ hours without any issues.
Runs fine. I think my Radio works fine but not sure since I have never played it on any other platform
Freezes on quit, have to kill to quit.
Had to change to directx9 like others have mentioned
There are few non-linux issue. One is on game load screen can be black. Need to enter the adrenaline mode by pressing left-alt and that solves it.
Crashes without displaying anything
Proton/Vulkan coule be having a issue with the embedded GPU on my AMD 3200. Tried forcing openGL via PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1, that gives me a white screen at startup but still crashes.
Update on my previous report. Moved to Debian Buster testing and it runs great.
Newer kernel and/or newer Mesa fixed any issues with the integrated GPU on my AMD 3200G
Runs Great
Slowdown noted by others in plant-selection. Did not bother me
Used winetricks to install xna40 like mentioned below. The wrinkle for me was if I installed it before running the game once it hung on install script. So what I did was
- Install 2. Run the game it goes through first time run scripts and then does nothing. 3. Quit 4. Do "WINEPREFIX=/steamapps/compatdata/258010/pfx wintricks xna40"
After this it runs fine
Even after using -windowed launch option would hang till I went down to 4-11-13
Had to downgrade proton version and used -windowed set resolution. Could then go back to using fullscreen and got rid of -windowed in launch options.
Works out of box. Used -CustomResolution:enabled -r1920x1080x32 to get 1080p via launch options
Played 1 tutorial so far
LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libfreetype.so.6 %command%
Since I am not based in US. On my debian system I had to set locale to also support "en_US.utf8"
I did this by editing "/etc/locale.gen", uncommenting line for " en_US.utf8". Then I ran "locale-gen"
You can run locale -a to list all supported locale, before and if needed after you do above.
I must have not been able to get native linux version to run. Forced it to use 4.11-13. Runs great with that
Works great. Have issues with DualShock 4 but that does not seem Linux specific. Controls great with mouse and Keyboard.
Got a cannot find executable error. Had to select 6.3-4 instead of default. It then installed updates and worked great
Runs great. Have not tried switching away. I run it fullscreen in 1080p
Using proton 4.11-13
Something broke in newer proton. It crashes when creating a new game. Older proton version that I listed works
