mapped keyboard inputs and enabled gamepad.

PROTON_FORCE_LARGE_ADDRESS_AWARE=1 %command% -w 3440 -h 1440
Slight choppiness considering i was playing at 160+ fps
Requires some tinkering to get the game to launch past a black screen. Thanks to others posting the launch options I was able to get past the black screen without futher issues

Great game, runs very poorly
After the tutorial and initial attack, many parts of the game had significant slowdowns. While a great game, it was really hard to finish like this. Quick saving and loading helped very slightly.

Once the config.cfg file is altered to stop pausing and the launch options listed are used, the game runs mostly fine.
PROTON_FORCE_LARGE_ADDRESS_AWARE=1 %command% -novid -w 2560 -h 1440
Game was pausing itself on every single key press. Within the config.cfg file pause was bound to "PAUSE". I fixed this by changing it to read as: bind "p" "pause"
Slight occasional crackling.
Without launch options the game will give you a black screen and cause a total system lockup. The game also defaults to AZERTY keyboard setup for some reason and you will have to alter the keybindings in game (or in the config.cfg file). The game also automatically binds pause to "PAUSE" instead of a keyboard key, causing every key to pause the game. This must be fixed in the config.cfg file. Once all this is done, the game works mostly fine with some minor occasional audio crackle and graphical issues like banners flickering at certain angles.

RADV_FORCE_VRS=2x2 RADV_PERFTEST="dccmsaa,sam,nircache,transfer_queue" gamemoderun %command%
some textures, like banners tend to flicker at a specific angle
crashed once
Really stable which was surprising, because on a Linux void distribution this game stuttered very heavily, I suggest changing distributions if someone has weird glitches that don't happen otherwise.

PROTON_FORCE_LARGE_ADDRESS_AWARE=1 %command% -novid -console -w 1920 -h 1080
No issues encountered.

The experience is perfectly enjoyable and the problems are minor. No tinkering.
Rare and short crackling.
If the game resolution is lower than the screen resolution, the game image becomes shifted to the side and does not correlate with the position of the buttons. At least this is the case for the 4:3 resolutions (the screen aspect ratio is 16:9), the others were not tested by me.
Also, the game freezes forever when you switch windows or workspaces.
Several (~3 or so) crashes occurred on random actions during more than 26 hours of gameplay.
Another small bug noticed: the text of the titles is missing at the very end.
The Proton version is 9.0-2.

gamemoderun %command% -novid -console "+mat_setvideomode 1600 900 1"
Had to use "+mat_setvideomode 1600 900 1" in launch options for launching in 1600x900 windowed mode.
Specify resolution with "mat_setvideomode" or with "-w NUM -h NUM" to avoid black screen.

Requires above average tinkering but I hope this will help others as well. Therefore: YES!
Downloaded large aware adress patch (4GB patch)
P.S.: my steamlibrary resides in different location. Note that the proton wineprefixes still reside in ~./steam
WINEPREFIX="/data/SteamLibrary/steamapps/compatdata/2100/pfx" /home/**user**/.steam/steam/steamapps/common/Proton\ 8.0/dist/bin/wine /home/**user**/Downloads/Large\ Address\ Aware.exe
Installed the unlimited patch with minimods. This requires you to symlink the media folder in mm to mm_root
ln -s /data/SteamLibrary/steamapps/common/Dark\ Messiah\ Might\ and\ Magic\ Single\ Player/mm/media/ /data/SteamLibrary/steamapps/common/Dark\ Messiah\ Might\ and\ Magic\ Single\ Player/mm_root
Will create na imprint of partial game client on the black bar right side. Fixed by switching to appropriate aspect ratio: 4:3 to 16:9
Amazing this runs with proton and how flexible the wineprefixes are. :) Childhood favorite game.
It is recommended to get about knowledge wineprefixes. In theory you could use my terminal commands, but i encourage understanding what it does. I use the games pfx for consistency. This never let me down. Can be used in other games as well. I have used this method to mod games like STALKER SoC, CS, CoP extensively.
It runs like a native game proton 7.06 The game runs at 200-2500 fps on max settings.

Installed 64bit 4gb patch (patched on Windows then moved). Installed Unlimited Edition patch that has some QOL fixes and reenabled cut content; however it creates a new directory "mm_root". I needed to symlink mm/media folder into mm_root otherwise cutscenes would cause an error. Used this guide https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=739039320
The default controls don't have wasd mapped, which was weird.
Some text is small but nothing the magnifier can't get around
Mostly works, but had to close and re-open the game every hour or so
Had a weird issue where the in-game menus would slowly degrade in performance until they became unusable (menus would completely freeze up). I haven't seen this reported anywhere else.
Normal gameplay was unaffected.
However, when the menus were frozen, holding alt+tab would show the game running absolutely fine in the mini-window.
In-game menus would slowly degrade in performance over the course of a play session, until they eventually lock up.
PROTON_FORCE_LARGE_ADDRESS_AWARE=1 %command% -novid -w 1920 -h 1080
i added "PROTON_FORCE_LARGE_ADDRESS_AWARE=1 %command% -novid -w 1920 -h 1080" launch options, as recommended by another contributor on protondb, and it runs flawlessly. without that, it did not start.
After fixing the default controls and scaling back in-game graphics settings I was able to play through the entire game on the Steam Deck.
PROTON_FORCE_LARGE_ADDRESS_AWARE=1
Default in-game controls were broken, so I had to remap the controls to their true defaults that steam input expected.
There was some visual artifacting with text.
The game has performance issues. I was able to have a pretty smooth experience after capping the refresh rate to 40hz and changing in-game graphical settings to low.
Runs at a smooth 60 on Deck throughout. Although one short encounter crashes so frequently that it could ruin the experience for you
The entire encounter with the Giant Worm crashed frequently. Had to save scum through it.
PROTON_FORCE_LARGE_ADDRESS_AWARE=1 %command% -novid -w 1920 -h 1080
Menu text / console text displays a bit glitchy but still readable
Had to customize default controls in-game, despite there being an official layout available that official layout did not conform to the game's default keyboard controls. IE, the official layout is mapped to WASD but the default controls for me were not WASD.
Despite setting the launch options for 1080p, I still need to manually set the aspect ratio on launch and I'm pretty sure it's only running in 720p. I have only tested the first mission of the game and have not progressed further yet. I suspect the large address launch option is necessary to avoid the slowdowns and performance issues reported by other users.
Added PROTON_FORCE_LARGE_ADDRESS_AWARE=1 %command% -novid -w 1920 -h 1080 to launch options
Added PROTON_FORCE_LARGE_ADDRESS_AWARE=1 %command% -novid -w 1920 -h 1080 to launch options
PROTON_USE_WINE3D=1 DXVK_HUD=1 %command% -w 1920 -h 1080
sometimes < 10 FPS
Aún con las opciones de inicio el juego se congela al inicar
PROTON_USE_WINE3D=1 %command% -w 1920 -h 1080
Personalmente no me funciona ni cambiando la versión de Proton ni con esas opciones de inicio, está completamente roto.
PROTON_USE_WINE3D=1 %command% -w 1920 -h 1080
Really low fps and frame drops makes it unplayable for me
Low fps and frame drops
use -w 1920 -h 1080 to get fullscreen
Classic that newer gets old
Little stutters, almost unnoticeable.
Proton steam/GE, PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command% -w 1920 -h 1080
in additional steam game options. Works great.
-w 1920 -h 1080
Glitchy fonts on closed captions and the command console, crosshair is slightly cut off at the bottom, decorative textures on walls tend to z-fight with the regular wall textures
Launched with setting : -w 1920 -h 1080
Slight freezes and fps drop
This is also a problem on Microsoft Windows, but you should set your resolution as a launch option like this: -w 1920 -h 1080
I have Logitech Trackball and remapped RB for scrolling. It worked inside the game, but no other game stuff I tried to bind to it. And my Alt key is binded for i3wm meta key, so it did not worked inside the game also
Use those running parameters or game will crash on start: "-w 1920 -h 1080"
Launch settings:
-w 1920 -h 1080

Black / corrupted screen, clicknig didn't work.
I have a faint memory that this game had issues with non 4:3 monitors. I have 2 monitors, none 4:3, maybe related.
Multiplayer comes up with the logo flashing and it takes up 1/4 of the screen.
Worked perfectly out of the box
Cannot recommend due to the display issues. It's not fun when every load screen can break the game.
When health is low, the blood effect is heavily pixelated, obscuring vision almost completely.
Game will occasionally display only a black screen after loading, requiring a restart. Sometimes the main menu can't be interacted with, also requiring a restart.
Sometimes it crash.
Other than setting the launch option as listed, the game ran smoothly. I didn't notice any issues.
Had to set launch options to: PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command% -w 1920 -h 1080

No black screen others mentioned using latest Glorious Eggroll. Ran in the terminal: protontricks 2100 winxp , for additional compatibility
Source Engine menu text showed minor double-layering of text; still able to read the items
Proton 5.0-10 the App starts but with a black screen. To fix it set launch options* PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command% -w 1920 -h 1080
AZERTY instead of QWERTY and i cant apply the Macros for my SkillerPro keyboard or at least dont know how to
there were some minor errors that i saw as i opened the console but nothing that directly affects the gameplay . THE GAME RUNS WELL!!!

Proton-6.1-GE-2 GloriousEggroll
GloriousEggroll PROTON
Some glitch in text of the source engine setting, savegame interface...
Bug with keyboard mapping (qwerty instead of azerty) but azerty mapping
game don't like alt tabing
