Worked fine for me with latest Proton with on issues - I just needed to use PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 %command% as a launch option.
Ran smoothly with the only tinkering being to set PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 %command% as a launch option.
Heavy lag (felt like single digit fps) in combat could be a deterrence.
Heavy lag (felt like single digit FPS) in battles. The more combatants, the worse the lag. However, it was smooth outside of battles.
Except for large battles, game runs smooth. Some missing sound, but nothing that hampered my experience.
Prior report said no sound. I was able to hear sound, but it only seemed to be music. There wasn't any background sound (like there usually is in towns of other Spiderweb games).
There was slight slowness, but it was typically only in larger battles. Overall, it was better than Avadon 2, but worse than 1.
I'm lazy/forgetful and always just force Proton Experimental out of habit. I had no issues running the game. Resolutions were a mess, but that's due to the age of the game.
I had to run it in Proton 4.11-13. Any newer version than that and the game failed to start. In addition, you have to have resolution lower than 1080 or you will experience slowdowns (ihowever, it was smooth for me once I got it under 1080).
I couldn't get beyond the main menu without disabling Esync and Fsync
All I did was run it in Proton - I didn't touch any settings or anything and it was mostly smooth other than being really slow when hacking.
I had problems at times where at times the tapes would repeat for no reason, but it could've been because it would get cut off when someone else started talking.
The game would lag to the point where I thought it froze whenever I tried to hack things (it would always eventually run again), but honestly it ran smoothly other than that - I didn't even do anything other than just run it in Proton.
Works perfectly - the only thing I needed to do was change BorderlandsGOTY.exe to Launcher.exe (overwriting the original).
Frequent crashes means I can't recommend playing this in Linux.
Game starts fine for me, but would freeze or crash every few minutes.
Other than setting the launch option as listed, the game ran smoothly. I didn't notice any issues.
Had to set launch options to: PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command% -w 1920 -h 1080
Ran smoothly with no tinkering. The only possible issue was the load screen seemed delayed or something, but wasn't a big deal for me.
Works without any input from user beyond using Proton.
I did have 2 crashes in about 33 hours, but I'm not really sure it had anything to do with Linux (one occurred when I was trying to quit and the other at the end when I was playing around with a dupe glitch for fun).
Other than cutscenes not working (the game "freezes" - just press ESC to skip), it worked fine out of the box with no slowness.
Game ran flawlessly other than the crashes when loading up a battle.
The game would crash roughly every third time or so when transitioning to a battle I don't know if that was Linux thing or not.
It didn't work out of the box for me. I had to use the tricks outlined in the numerous other reports.
Native didn't work, Proton ran flawlessly for me without any tinkering.
I experience occasional freezes though I don't know if that was a Linux thing or just the game.
I only play single-player so I can't say how well multi player runs.
Says Native, but it wouldn't even start. It only worked with Proton (5.13-1)
States native linux, but that wouldn't start for me. I had to use Proton (5.13-2) which worked flawlessly for me.
Not sure if bug, but whenever I exited the screen would go completely blank for a few seconds (literally all I saw was my desktop) before everything showed up again.
Listed as Native, but it wouldn't run until I forced it to use Steam Play/Proton (5.13-2).
Loads fine, but either freezes or crashes at the main menu after a few seconds.
I have copies from Steam and GOG, but neither worked. I've tried with Steamplay/Proton (both copies) and it didn't work. I tried using Lutris, it didn't work. The only thing that I didn't try was using an older version of proton or a different OS so maybe that's the key (note: I did play around with Solus's Linux Steam integration based upon what I could find online, but nothing worked). FWIW, I loaded it up on Windows 10 just fine.
Crashed too often to be recommended..
A couple of areas had trees that didn't render correctly.
There was one time where the framerate had to drop down to single digits.
I had frequent crashes. At first, it was just when trying to use the buses to fast travel or when loading after dying, but when I stopped dying so much or using fast travel, I was still getting crashes.
Just doesn't work no matter what I try.
It launches, but in a tiny screen and freezes so I can't even select anything. I've tried using different Proton versions as well as looking at the install folder and nothing seems to work.
Stated to have Native Linux, but it wouldn't run that way for me. I had to use Proton.
As long as PhysX is disabled and possibly graphics kept low, this game runs smoothly.
Very sluggish unless PhysX is disabled, but still sluggish without it.
I always forget to look if a game is Native on Linux and just use Proton Experimental out of habit. The game worked perfectly without issues on PC/Proton Experimental.
