The game wont stretch to the native Steam Deck resoloution and has black bars on the left and right. Theres a patch out there to fix that. I'm just not familliar with how to go about it on linux. PLAYABLE.
No need to really tinker. Didnt turn on proton. Just the the black borders on the left and right may bother some if you want to use the entire screen. Also use the controller layout I mentioned and go from there if you feel that it can be better.

Works well, but requires you to change to Software Render in the game configuration tool instead of D3D.
Had to revert Proton to version 7, Experimental would not work.

PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=60 %command%
The environment variable PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=60 fixed crackling issues.
Running the game with Direct3D rendering more often than not doesn't work or is extremely slow (it's also slow on Windows with Direct3D rendering). Switching to software rendering in the configurator works perfectly.
A lot has to mapped if you don't want to akwardly rely on mouse.
Crashes when opening books, is a known windows issue.
I recommend running the game at FullHD or lesser otherwise everything will be too small. Run the software mode not Direct3D.
gamemoderun %command%
Works perfectly!

Doesn't even start.
Doesn't start at all. Tried different Proton versions but it didn't help.

Plays flawlessly
Works as good as it does on Windows. Played for over 15 hours without experiencing a single crash or bug. I highly recommend playing this game on Linux.
Works without any input from user beyond using Proton.
I did have 2 crashes in about 33 hours, but I'm not really sure it had anything to do with Linux (one occurred when I was trying to quit and the other at the end when I was playing around with a dupe glitch for fun).
Works flawlessly. The low-ish FPS in Direct3D mode is expected (just like on Windows.) Unlike Windows though, no crashes on Linux.
The slowdown and overheating issues are too much.
Slowdown, improved by lowering resolution, but still not acceptable.
Maybe not a bug, but both this and Beyond Divinity cause my cpu to get extremely hot.
Lässt sich gut spielen
Works out of the box.
I expected it to run better given my hardware (I got less than 20 FPS).
Perfect game, perfect work!
Runs perfect.

Tends to crash during fights esp. when lots of spell effects are going off & when rapidly pausing/unpausing. Workaround that has greatly reduced the frequency of crashes for me: in the pre-launch options, set rendering to Direct 3D and uncheck AlphaBit & Smooth, and in winecfg, change the Windows version to XP. Also recommend changing the quicksave key as Ctrl + S often doesn't register properly and saving frequently.

Played GOG version with wine-staging-4.16 instead of Proton, running in its own WINEPREFIX as Proton would not play nicely with the GOG version. Not sure whether it's because of Wayland in general or Sway WM, but this would not run unless I ran it in a virtual desktop. Almost flawless at 2560x1440 Direct3D except for some minor visual glitches with certain non-alphanumeric text characters (which do not occur in Software mode, but that is significantly slower) and the rare occasional slowdown. Does require good single-threaded CPU performance at 1440p.

Vanilla install, no tweaks. Runs normally and performs well.

Had an unusual static sound that could be heard. Was the same sound as in Windows however. Disable the Steam Overlay and Desktop Game Theater and problem went away. Configured using 1920x1080 under software mode.

Works perfectly.

Works perfectly out of the box

Software mode ran flawlessly. Direct 3D caused Wine to stop responding initially, but if I just wait it out it works.

Perfect
