PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
With gamescope on the cutscenes are not playable.Gamescope needs to be removed before playing this game.
Works fine with cutscenes on Proton 6.3-8 with gamescope uninstalled and PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%

PROTON_NO_D3D11=1 %command%
Text is just kind of small. Still readable.
Game would not launch without changing some things:
Launch Options = PROTON_USE_WINE3D3=1 %command% Game Resolution = 1280x800 Set resolution for internal and external display = true (may not be necessary) Proton version 3.7-8 When first launching, click "configure" and set the resolution to 1280x800
I created a community controller layout called "Beyond Divinity". As of this writing it's the only one there.
- Sets up the left stick for movement
- top-left paddle = ALT (show items on the ground)
- bottom-left paddle = CRL (target nearest enemy)
- top-right paddle = F12
- bottom-left paddle = SPACE (pause)
- left bumper = show/hide minimap
- right bumper = turn on/off combat mode
In game, I changed these controls:
- Open inventory = I
- Open automap = F
- Quick Save = F12 (top-left paddle)

Launch options: PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
I had to run it in Proton 4.11-13. Any newer version than that and the game failed to start. In addition, you have to have resolution lower than 1080 or you will experience slowdowns (ihowever, it was smooth for me once I got it under 1080).
Better at lower resolutions, but background effects and such will cause it to slow down to an unenjoyable level.
Slowdown, which gets worse at higher resolutions.

When launching it says Wine is not responding, but if I just wait it out it works. Dialogs and fights are slow in 1080p, but plays fine in 720p (my ultrabook is certainly no "gaming" computer, but should be able to handle games from this era).

Works. The slowdown noted in the previous bronze report is a known issue independent of Steam Play.

No issues

runs fine at first, but during the combat its slow motion

Strange graphical artifact in main menu, but the actual game runs fine (the artifact disappears in-game)
