Played through the whole game. I switched to the vulkan rendered, and that seemed to perform better.
Changed the right joystick to "Flick Stick"
Set in-game graphics options to "Low" and limited TDP to ~8 watts
A couple of crashes happened in the beginning of the game, but as I progressed I noticed they didn't happen as much.
After fixing the default controls and scaling back in-game graphics settings I was able to play through the entire game on the Steam Deck.
PROTON_FORCE_LARGE_ADDRESS_AWARE=1
Default in-game controls were broken, so I had to remap the controls to their true defaults that steam input expected.
There was some visual artifacting with text.
The game has performance issues. I was able to have a pretty smooth experience after capping the refresh rate to 40hz and changing in-game graphical settings to low.
Added radial menu weapon select, added save/load game mode shift on right pad, fine tuned the controls to my liking
Some slow downs in a few scenes, but still very playable
Seems to use an old build of HL2 - You'll see a lot of "node graph out of date rebuilding" messages. They don't affect gameplay.
I made and published my own layout: "Deck Optimized w/ Gyro"
Some of the menu text was impossible to read, but thankfully it wasn't necessary to play the game.
Some sections would tank the performance. It was always playable though.
A great experience from start to finish - Just needed to switch to Proton GE to get the game to run.
Plays great! Not a single crash that I can remember throughout my playthrough. Holds up very well!
Added some additional actions to the right pad, customized some bindings to my liking
You can scale up the HUD in the options. On the deck you might also need to bump up the brightness/gamma to see better in dark sections.
Switching to Proton Exp. fixed crashing for me
Once you've switched to Proton Exp. and have the controls dialed in, it is a pretty stable experience. Ran pretty well for me.
Overall runs great - switched to windows version via proton experimental for more FPS. Only a few minor graphical bugs here and there.
Played while traveling, so to saved battery switched to low and capped FPS at 30
Wouldn't hesitate to play this again on the Steam Deck.
Game played perfectly on the Steam Deck. Good performance and visuals throughout. Felt like a native game.
Played the demo - default controls were decent, but adding gyro and flickstick helps. performance could be better.
needs further optimization - reduced to lowest settings to achieve 40fps
one crash after sevral hours
