Sometimes, just because you can run a game well using Proton, it doesn't mean you should...
Follow this tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NaPNJSGqxyQ In short: go into Big Picture mode (if not on Steam Deck), go to your library, right click on Battlefield 1 -> Developer -> Delete Proton files.
Then switch to Proton Experimental. Worked like a charm.
FUCK EA
Kernel anticheat won't let you play anymore...

Install T7 Patch to ensure your safety against threats like RCE while playing online, it also improves performance apparently. Source Github link with guidelines on how to set it up: https://github.com/shiversoftdev/t7patch
shoutout to the t7 dev (and contributors if any) for keeping this game playable in 2025 across all desktop platforms <3
Zombies work fine. Don't forget to type "seta com_maxfps 0" in game console, for some reason the gameplay was extremely laggy otherwise.
Certain audios kept repeating themselves over and over while it wasn't supposed to, no idea why.
Slight stuttering
For the love of God don't run this on GE. It gave me so many glitches that it became literally unplayable. Zombies one-hitting you, frequent stutters, black/white screen at endgame, annoying and out-of-place and delayed audio clips, zombies spawning way too soon, barricades being fully repaired in half a second... eh, the last one doesn't sound so bad :x
For the intro cutscene the subtitles and audio were out of sync, but the rest was smooth sailing
Runs great, works well with Xbox One controller
Reminder: Your saves aren't stored in Steam Cloud, so be sure to back them up elsewhere.
Save files can be found at: ~/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/374320/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/Application Data/Dark Souls III
Performance-wise it runs perfectly, and I haven't encountered any bugs within 6hrs of gameplay, aside from the occasional crash.
Game crashes roughly once every hour. Not really a problem in a game with frequent saving options.
Runs better than on Windows. GloriousEggroll's Proton outperformed Valve's 6.3-7 by 2 times the FPS. No other tweaks required.
6.19-GE-2 GloriousEggroll
Laggy mouse at the menu and pause screens
Works out of the box. The game performs much better on Proton 6.3-6 than on native.
FPS drops during system notifications, persists for 3-4 secs
I had no audio while running the game on Native, switching to Proton solved it somehow ;o
Launcher starts, crashes when you hit 'play'
Open-source Linux-native dressup gacha games when? :(
Runs great ootb
Turn on VSync to limit your max FPS to 60, this resolves some bugs related to Robin's gear. Not sure if this is a Linux thing, though.
Silly cutscenes make or break a LEGO game. I had audio loop issues and it ruins the point of the game imo.
Audio keeps looping in cutscenes
Performance drops occasionally
WINDLLOVERRIDES=“xaudio2_9=n” %command%
Dialogues and the intro sound are missing. Solution: Download xaudio2_9.dll here: https://www.dll-files.com/xaudio2_9.dll.html then put it in your gamefiles, same directory as the launcher exe. Use the launch option above, and you're good to go. For a walkthrough, see video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-jYOoCxp_U4
Runs good, make sure to disable 3D acceleration through ingame settings
Lag during cutscenes and plant choosing screen, completely trivial to gameplay though
Runs great with GE. Game wouldn't start with other Proton versions because of a DirectX error.
Works very well out of the box
Slightly lower performance than in Win10
You can rizz up Skibidi Toilet Hero on Linux
skibidi your bob bob bob yes yes gyat for the mewing fanum mogged rizzler
Runs great on native with a keyboard, haven't tried controller
Switch to Proton if you own the Repentance or Repentance+ DLCs, the game won't boot otherwise. Runs good no prob that way!
Switch to Proton
for var in $(printenv | cut -d= -f1); do export $var=$(echo ${!var} | rev | cut -c1-1000 | rev); done ; OPENSSL_ia32cap=~0x20000000 %command% -window -noborder
Crashed a couple times with a pop-up message like "Origin's not running". Haven't found anything on it online, but make sure the EA app is running fine
"OPENSSL_ia32cap=~0x20000000" launch param required for multiplayer
You can play "those games" with no problem!
Real Yakuza play on Linux
Dualshock 4 works great, too!
W game runs with some small technical issues
FPS plummets for ~10 seconds every now and then
Tabbing out breaks the graphics, tabbing out again fixes it
