Manual copying of save data from the demo
If you played the demo, copy over its save data to /steamapps/compatdata/1690940/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/Local/DELTARUNE (easy way to access this is by right-clicking Deltarune on Steam, clicking "Browse game files", going backwards to steamapps then going to compatdata then 1690940)
This is because of the way Proton handles the WINE part. Everything is kinda isolated per game, so the full version of Deltarune can't see its demo saves since they're technically two different games.
If you've gone straight into the full game and skipped the demo, you should be fine. Whether you need to do this depends on if you started from the demo.

Runs completely fine with no tinkering needed so far.
Sometimes switching keyboard layout from QWERTZ (my default) to QWERTY didn't do anything, with the (now) Z key still not being recognized, so I suppose you should make sure to have QWERTY even before running the game with proton.
Have played through the first two chapters (which were amazing, by the way!) without any compatibility issues whatsoever. As plug-and-play as it can get.

I couldn't get the game to launch neither with Proton Hotfix (default) nor Proton Experimental, but I've had no issues with Proton 8.0.5.

Turn on Steam Input for controllers
I highly recommend playing with a controller since some of the secret bosses especially get a lot harder on mouse+keyboard. Thing is, they don't work out of the box because of the way the chapters split themselves into multiple applications. For whatever reason, Steam Input fixes this entirely with no other issues. Some people recommend using the Universal Layout community layout, but I found that the official layout worked fine.

Very minor input lag sometimes, most likely due to the game's capped framerate

The Tenna introduction in Chapter 3 does not load, you miss on a great quirky thing from the game.
A video used in the middle of game glitches out and doesn't show

No lançamento o jogo tinha alguns problemas no Linux relacionado a: Salvamento da Nuvem, Audio Cortando e Alguns Efeitos Faltando
Porem parece que agora o jogo está perfeito no Linux! Só lembre de mudar o Proton para a branch Experimental.
works great on fedora linux
PROTON_USE_WINED3D11=1 %command%

It works perfectly fine in the latest version of the game. However, the first versions crashed.
Before Toby launch patch fixes, the games install but not open. The most recent fix now plays the game normally, with a sole exception of a .mp4 cutscene from chapter 3 not playing. Apart, the game runs perfectly.
annoying to fullscreen on a window manager and cant normally fullscreen in the chapter select screen (using hyprland)
gamemoderun %command%

Works perfect out of the box
Required no tinkering, just worked, as expected
works fine on fedora linux

Audio sometimes lags/glitches

PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
The game doesn't start properly without the launch arguments, It wasn't necessary on release day before the hotfixes, but now it won't work without them.

PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
Without the launch options, it felt like there was a slightly noticable input delay and the game felt slightly blurried.
The launch options fixed both problems

Audio crackling varied between very frequent to not at all. I found that swapping to proton 10.0-1 had the best results. Originally, I experienced no crackling on proton 9.0.4, but that would change depending on the day.
Curiously, Deltarune appears to use a very uncharacteristic 20-45% of my CPU despite not appearing particularly intensive. Unsure if this is unique to Linux, or happens on other platforms.

❤️
Works perfectly
Works perfectly
It worked very well with "proton-cachyos" And i even recorded the game with obs and it went very well. Even better than Windows.

Have to use keyboard binds to fullscreen
Controller sometimes doesn't work. Steam input and other methods needed to fix.

Works perfectly, just don't expect a controller
Controllers do not work past the chapter select menu
The game handles fine without a controller so its not that big of a deal.

Ran flawlessly on my system - not a single hiccup
great game btw

gamescope -f -w 2560 -h 1600 -W 2560 -H 1600 --adaptive-sync -- %command%
I would highly recommend using Gamescope on tiling window managers (I'm using niri for example) for Deltarune in particular since the game uses a very peculiar way of closing and reopening windows when selecting chapters, which could confuse the WM and lead to focus loss. With Gamescope all those shenanigans are contained within a single, static window, which leads to an overall much better experience.

Occasional crackling during gameplay
I did not test the video cutscene at the beginning of Chapter 3

Just Works Out of the Box
Deltarune works flawlessly for me.
Using the Universal Controller Layout community layout fixed all controller problems.

PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
Checkered pixel paterns shifted a bit and the "O" in "Off" in the settings menu had some extra black pixels to the side
This game did not run without tinkering, mostly because of my IGPU though so I'd imagine anyone with a modern dedicated one wouldn't have a problem

mangohud %command%
Makes my fans work hard despite not being very performance intensive, otherwise no issues.

在游玩第三章的 8-bit 小游戏和 Tenna 的小游戏一段时间后 游戏会产生严重的输入延迟 重启游戏将会恢复
第三章存在性能问题 除此以外运行正常

You need to manually import your saves from the demo. Essentially just drag them from the demo and drop them in the corresponding main game folder.
Everything runs and works well with no performance issues or input lag.
