Ironically this works far better on Linux than on Windows
I havent experienced a single crash playing completely normal (non D11), yet my Windows friends on Nvidia GPUs have experienced quite a few crashes.
Required ALVR to properly recognize my Headset which didnt work out of the box but ALVR has a fairly good GUI to deal with most stuff. Esp. on Arch Linux ALVR installation is however super easy.
I was kinda blown away at how stable it ran once everything was set up. You wouldnt be able to tell the difference.
[Chapter 3/4 Release] Did not work on latest Proton, only on GE for some reason. (Also PEAK)
gamemoderun %command%
Does not detect the demo save file (Look at Steam guides for help)
Worked perfectly out of the box. The initial shader compilation step was a bit slow but after that nothing ever happened again.
Works perfectly on Wayland, better than Windows even.
So far I have played ~100 hours on Linux, Dead By Daylight has become a flawless experience, my framerate is extremely stable, it works perfectly on Wayland, I have never faced a single kind of issue. Quite frankly, the experience is possibly even better than on Windows.
Everything worked as if it was native
It even recognized the save files from the demo version.
From Steam Reviews this game honestly appears to work better on Linux than on some Windows devices.
Extremely rare and subtle / barely visible screen blinking when playing on highest settings. Barely noticeable in normal gameplay.
Tabbing out of the game while it is launching appears to sometimes cause fullscreen issues. Nothing too serious but still a bit annoying when it happens. (Fixed by changing settings or restart)
LD_PRELOAD="" PROTON_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1 PROTON_ENABLE_HDR=1 gamemoderun %command% -USEALLAVAILABLECORES
Sometimes youd get weird random black boxes on the map
Works well with newest Proton GE on Wayland + HDR
Everything appears to work well on modern Proton, it was able to create the Online Session and I didnt experience any issues
D11 has the worse performance but no crashes, D12 has extremely good performance but rare crashes
LD_PRELOAD="" LFX=1 gamemoderun %command%
Long Shader Compilation, even during gameplay on D11, doesnt happen on D12
rare crashes on D12, none on D11
The audio settings reset to 100% each time
Flawless experience
Everything works out of the box, microphone gets picked up as your default device
Works perfectly out of the box.
Workshop downloads felt weirdly slow but that was most likely a Steam CDN issue
gamemoderun %command% -vulkan
FSR/TSR cause quite noticable aliasing (At least in late game)
Disable FSR/TSR and definitely play on Vulkan for the best performance possible (Either through video settings or simply by adding -vulkan
to your launch command)
gamemoderun %command%
Works on Wayland, even on very high settings. The very first startup and login take quite a long time but afterwards it works fine.
Extremely weird to offer a native build that doesnt work with DLCs, I feel like there are a lot of coonfused Steam Deck users thanks to it. If you switch to Proton Experimental DLC (Including Repentance+ Online Co-Op) work perfectly.
The initial intro didn't load properly. (Isn't game breaking though)
