Game would not launch with standard Proton, worked near perfectly with 5.9-GE-5
GE Proton. Had to install and launch Odyssey first to get the Uplay key installed. Then game ran perfectly, inc 21:9
Lots of letterboxed weirdness. Eventually got 16:9 working with Proton Experimental. 21:9 does not work
GE-6.1-2
occasional black-screen crashes, which I suspect are down to driver issues
hack required for full 21:9 cutscenes
The weakest AC game, both in performance and gameplay.
Had to play Windowed to get proper Ultrawide. No solutions apparent
Game felt slow and 'heavy' even on adjusted settings.
Crashes on both standard and TKG kernels, Proton Experimental was better than 5.13-6 or GE
Running a 5800X3D and Sapphire Nitro+ 7900XTX, so this is likely a driver problem - but the game is not currently playable
DualSense only available with Steam Coller support disabled, fine after
Grinds to a total halt during the first scene
If you can grind your way through the opening, performance vastly improves
DualSense only works properly if you Disable Steam Input
The opening scene has atrocious performance issues. Got through it only by setting graphics to lowest preset and pushing through the lag/freezes
Game will outright fail with standard settings during the opening sequence

Crashes appear to be completely random, but aren't all that common
Launch Options: WINE_FULLSCREEN_FSR=1 PROTON_NO_FSYNC=1 %command% -NoStartupMovies
With FSR used entirely at your discretion. I was fine running full 3440x1440
Proton version offers full Windows parity, but crashes constantly.
Deeply unstable under Proton. Perfect native
Rock solid on mainline Arch. Crashed a lot on custom kernel. Recommend GE Proton, wouldn't work at all with standard
Wine will error out on launch. Use PROTON_FORCE_LARGE_ADDRESS_AWARE=1 PROTON_USE_D9VK=1 %command% -nolauncher and keep trying.
Saves can be transferred between Windows & Linux versions
Linux is at: .local/share/aspyr-media/borderlands the pre-sequel/willowgame/savedata/[numbers]/
Windows is at: /steamapps/compatdata/261640/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/My Documents/My Games/Borderlands The Pre-Sequel/WillowGame/SaveData/[numbers]/
As long as you can handle the crashing, all good
Wouldn't launch with standard Proton, crashes a lot with GE. Annoying since the game is horribly out of date native
Game switched to non-English on second launch. To switch back, go to the second-bottom option on the main menu (Settings), over to the Third section of that settings screen (Music/Language), and to the second bottom option (Game Language). Keep changing until it returns to English
The video issues make this very difficult to recommend
crashed a lot with standard Proton, occasionally with GE
Video completely craps out during the closing levels, even with GE. I'm currently unable to complete the game since I can't see the closing section of Chapter 13

Dips in performance during heavy particle effects. Happens on all settings. Film Grain and Motion Blur help a lot

Absolutely broken.
Purchased on Steam and available as part of EA Play. Neither work. The launcher tries to install two utterly redundant Windows programs, then fails. I see other PDB users get this game working, I have no idea how
Won't launch. EA Play via Steam
Origin takes a lot of patience and effort to install, then the game refuses to launch. Epic fail
A little slow (as expected) on my 5600X/5700XT but looks great and perfectly playable. FSR via GE did not look so good.
Would not detect wired DualSense but was fine with wireless Xbox
The Launcher and game itself take a while to load up, which can seem like they don't work. They do, just be patient. Full native Ultrawide
5.21-GE-1, though I think standard works fine
16:9 is perfect native. Hack as follows for 21:9 Install Bless Hex Editor. Use it to open DarkSoulsIII.exe and replace 80 07 00 00 38 04 with (2560x1080): 00 0A 00 00 38 04, (3440x1440): 70 0D 00 00 A0 05, (5120x1440): 00 14 00 00 A0 05. Now, go to steamapps/compdata/374320/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/Application Data/DarkSoulsIII/GraphicsConfig.xml Open with your preferred editor. Set the top section to WINDOW, 3440, 1440, 3440, 1440 (or your required res). Save and set the file to Read Only.
Launch DS3. It will (always) open in a squished window. Start playing and use the menu to switch to Fullscreen. TADA!!!
Tried both as standard and with update mods. Just unplayably slow, and still looks awful. Avoid
Ran like hot garbage. Even with all available fixes
A wildly different experience from PTD. Native ultrawide, better fps and visuals, a thoroughly enjoyable game I have now completed
Game crashed on loading level 12, repeatedly, including with other people's save games, meaning I could not complete the game. This was immensely disappointing
The physics for dead necromorphs is completely insane, flying all over the screen at extremely high speed. The game is still playable, it's just incredibly weird
DO NOT use GE. It causes bizarre physics issues that make corpses fly around like demented rubber chickens
Runs at 60 FPS on Ultra settings via Proton 5.0.9
Runs ave 24.2 FPS Native on Low settings, which is atrocious
That a 'native' Linux game runs so much better on Proton speaks volumes as to how far that technology has come in the last couple of years
Ultrawide hack on pcgw & PS4 buttons available via Nexus
The Resi engine wins again. Superb performance from some of the best tech in modern gaming
will not render ultrawide, causing low-res zoomed image with extreme artifacts. There does not appear to be a solution
Played just long enough to make sure it works. Seems perfect so far
Opening video and menu screens show as 'missing video'. Game launches and plays just fine otherwise
Launches with Proton Experimental. Instant crash with anything else.
Proton Experimental ONLY
Proton Experimental refused to update while selected to run this game. I had to swap it out, uninstall PE, reinstall and restart Steam. The game then launched with full intro video and zero other issues. It took me over a week to figure that out. The Steam support ticket was bounced around and offered no help at all.
-high -USEALLAVAILABLECORES
As with Windows, Shadows and Cloth Physics massacre FPS. Turn them both down to Low
Crashed under GE 7-10, fine with standard 7.0-1
No controller support at all. Dev claims to be 'working on it'
Game functions fine, but is still underdeveloped.
DualSense worked, but with kb&m prompts
Native 21:9 is supported, with cutscenes via hex edit
Controller defaults to WASD & Mouse, which does not work. Switch to Gamepad for Xbox buttons & prompts. No DualSense
Native 21:9 with cutscenes available via hex edit, as is still AAA standard
GE-6 is required to view videos on the in-ship computer. Otherwise, flawless performance including full 21:9

freezes, black screen crashes and full system resets
Game occasionally failed to complete loading. Known endgame bug requires a console forced-save and restart
notes given are to improve visuals but are not required to play
Runs perfectly on 5600X/5700XT
Only problem is flickering textures, which is a known game issue and not Linux specific
DOA. Origin installs, then nothing. Refunded
Tried will all recent Protons & GE . Severely disappointing
Beware: this collection launches so slowly it looks like it's crashed. Be very patient
Full Ultrawide. Launcher menu is kb&m only, but the games offer full Xbox & PS controller support. I'm using GE 7.0rc3-1 for audio fixes
The native version crashed constantly. I didn't make it out of the main menu. 5.0.9 caused weird desktop issues I've never seen before (my icon tray fully visible during play) and no online. GE-7-ST makes the game run exactly as it would on Windows, easily running 60fps at Ultra
Crashed during cutscenes under standard Proton, perfect under GE and Experimental
Full DualSense support, including buttons availalbe under Options
the light attack bug alone is game-breaking. Avoid
stretched ultrawide. No support for non-stretched or full 21:9. The devs also deliberately broke 21:9 mods and refused to fix it themselves
The game does not detect light attacks, in any control configuration. I cannot emphasise enough how basic and utterly broken this is.
Other than the pointless Linux build, the game plays beautifully
The Native build does not give a Fullscreen option, or any resolution adjustment. Proton does. Use Proton.
Use standard Proton
I've followed all instructions as given here, and it just plain refuses to work. I rarely even get as far as installing wmp11.
Broken over multiple attempts on multiple distros
protontricks 304240 wmp11
Panels fully visible during play
No 21:9, fixed with hex edits: 39 8E E3 3F -> 8F E3 18 40, then further along the same line change 00 00 80 41 -> 00 00 AC 41
Extreme weirdness on (the usually superb) SalientOS: I installed the demo first, ran it, closed the window to switch to GE proton, then it refused to launch again. The full game also refused to launch. Repeatedly. I have no idea why. Decided to install Garuda (why not?) and everything is now working perfectly.
Runs perfectly at standard 16:9, and at ultrawide as long as the fix keeps working (it does as of 26.12.2000)
Ultrawide Fix: Go here https://visualstudio.microsoft.com/downloads/?q=Microsoft+Visual+C%2B%2B+Redistributable+for+Visual+Studio+2019 and download Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2019 Backup your sekiro.exe. Rename the redist to sekiro.exe and put it in the Sekiro folder, where your real exe was. Launch the game. It'll install the redist.

Use GE or you'll miss the opening video & playable intro. Full Ultrawide is supported
DualSense didn't work, Xbox did
game caused repeated full-system crashes. Never got to play it :(
tried standard and GE Proton. Always crashed during the intro
Used a mod to remove Lens Flare, which you cannot turn off in-game
Game crashed once under standard Proton [7.0.4], rock solid under GE
Can now strongly recommend this game
Proton for DualSense support
DualSense doesn't work properly Native, does under Proton
-dx11 (game will complain it can't run under dx12, which you don't have)
protontricks --gui -> select the demo -> install vcredist 2019. Lots of alerts will pop up, just click through them
Outright will not run without fixes. This game is absolutely, categorically not 'Perfect out of the box', but runs well when fixed
One instance of audio being broken, otherwise fine
Game is in very rapid development and can start/stop working on a daily, sometimes hourly basis. Superb when it works.
Perfect performance with standard Proton. Native Ultrawide with 16:9 cutscenes
Recognised Xbox but not DualSense
I wish more games worked this easily & ran this well. Hugely recommended
Can't save, which is as broken as it's possible to be while still launching
Cannot save at all. I discovered this after 5 hours playtime.
