The game looks good on the deck and the gameplay is nice. However, without some tweaks, your experience may not be that great.
Gyro activates on right trackpad touch (and also on right joystick touch, but I didn't use the joystick at all)
By default the frame rate fluctuates from 40 to 60. This doesn't provide a good experience, especially for a shooter (at least for me). In order to prevent these drops, I made a few changes.
The first thing I changed is the deck's refresh rate: I set it to 40 Hz. I tried lowering the graphics, but I wasn't able to reach a point where I would be satisfied with both the game's looks and its performance. I also enabled Allow Tearing
to prevent any kind of input delays (at least that's what I've read about this option).
Furthermore, I may have also changed some of the graphics settings, but I don't really remember which ones (if any), so I'll list all of them below:
- Resolution: 1280x800
- Vertical Sync: On
- Anti Aliasing Quality: FXAA
- Post Process Quality: High
- View Distance Quality: High
- Shadow Quality: Medium
- Texture Quality: High
- Effects Quality: High
- Foliage Quality: Medium
In 99% of my playthrough, the game ran at a stable 40 fps. However, there were a few places where it dropped to 30 or so for a very short period of time. Since this didn't happen frequently, I found it acceptable.
There's one last thing that I want to mention: for the final boss battle, I tried beating it on the deck for a few times, but I wasn't successful. Since it was late at night and I have a hard time enjoying shooters on the deck in general (I'm a heavy PC user and I keep forcing myself to get accustomed to using the gyro in these kind of games) I gave up and plugged a monitor, mouse and keyboard to the deck and tried to beat the game like this. I managed to do it on the 3rd attempt (in the first 2 I had to learn the controls :D).
Overall, I say that this game runs good and plays fine on the deck. If you have a good time with the gyro, then you'll definitely enjoy this one. Otherwise, you can also play it docked, like I did for the final part :).

It works out of the box
I cannot try Multiplayer, but I am certain, it works fine as well
Simple install and play
The game plays perfectly out of the box, the Steam Deck is a very comfortable way to play it. No complaints.

Small text that cannot be scaled. Good: subtitles can be adjusted

All video playback fixed by forcing Steam to use Proton 8.0-4
no video playback in the ship (but sound ok), also no intro screens (dev studio, ...) when launching the game

GOG version on Heroic Games Launcher using Wine-GE-Proton7-14, no tinker steps needed. Locked FPS to 40 and running on high settings.
Wine GE 8-17 (latest as of writing) has no video. Can't get multiplayer to work no matter what I try though.
Works flawlessly
Finished game without issues

Everything worked perfectly
Overriding my brevious "broken" report. Turns out the game tries to install some DirectX version when you first install it, and this gets stuck. I killed the installer using process manager, and the game started working.
Not sure if this is due to game or Steam in general, so I'm not reporting it.
Game doesn't start at all. No window opens.
Runs perfectly, no tinkering needed
Works fine.
The game runs flawlessly, multiplayer included.
lock refresh rate to 40, big areas make you dip from 60 to around 40 even on low settings. On 40 fps the game is solid.
DXVK_ASYNC=1 %command%
wasn't able to change resolution to use FSR
My save file completely dissappeared after the first session, had to start over cause NO CLOUD SAVES! (Might be due to changing to GE proton after the first session?)
Game runs okay out of the box, after a little while I tried to switch to GE proton and try DXVK_ASYNC, but I don't think it worked really. I think it played very similar to how the out of the box experience is on steam, which is mostly solid at 40 fps.

(Steam Deck/Game Mode)Heroic launcher with Proton 7.0 game freezes after a few seconds, audio still works in the background.
Other Proton versions cause a bug where ingame videos don't play in the spaceship.
!With version Proton-GE-Proton7-2 works perfectly without any bugs on Steam Deck!
Works perfectly out of the box
Sometimes light fps drops but can not say if its the game or because of Proton. Absolutly playable, so not significant at all but noticeable
Everything works perfectly even with a xbox controller via cable.
Highly recommendable!
Activate DX 12 in the ingame video menu to prevent stutters
Videos from the ingame PC don't work

Must use Proton GE
Significant lag/stuttering.
Video does not work. A test screen is displayed in its place.
Unable to disable vsync. Solid 60fps but still seeing stuttering. Videos do not play and will exit shortly after beginning.
Runs more-or-less perfectly with Proton-Experimental
When a new area was loaded in, there was a brief drop in frames. Otherwise there has been no other issues
Videos are now functioning, with both audio and visual. Those using older software packages may still have issues with them, however.

Used the latest proton from GE (7.0rc3-GE-1)
Runs like a charm

Stuck after splash screen
It shows the TYPHOON logo and then a purple screen and it gets stuck there. I tried all steam proton versions and all 5.* and 6.* GE builds including 6.16-GE-1 which GloriousEggroll released some days ago.
Videos where missing --- proton-ge-custom fixed the problem

Runs alsmot perfect OOTB. Only thing not working is in-game videos
In-game videos not playing (videos on ingame PC and TV in the ship).
Played with Dualshock 4 controller. Works like a charm through Steam, but in-game layout is locked to XBox. Everything works so far, except ingame video (ads on the TV and video messages from HQ). Runs pretty great on High, considering my ancient hardware.
As of 11 May 2021 via Proton 5.13-6 Installs without problem, runs great on max settings and is playable.

In game videos on monitors inside the space don't play, other than that it's a smooth experience
Works great so far. Videos not playing when using the ingame computer is the only bug for me.

Playable, but still needs work. Video playback issues hurt the experience, but otherwise functional.
FMV video clips do not play in-game (replaced with black screen and no audio). This affects all infomercials and live action cutscenes.
The game initially had a freeze/lockup on startup, and appeared to freeze up several times while loading for the first time. After reaching gameplay, everything ran as expected and all gameplay seems to be intact.
The lack of video playback on TVs and your computer takes away from the humor and atmosphere of the game. However, this can be overlooked (particularly if the main draw is co-op anyway).
Proton Experimental was used to run the game (as of Jan 29).

A bit of sound over a black screen, can't get to main menu
It finally dies on a DX11/Unreal engine error message
Works great! Using Proton 5.13.6.
It runs really smooth, no need for extra configs, used gamemoderun %command% just out of habit but not really a must.
Adjusting video settings helps, but stutters sometimes nonetheless.
