Game installs but won't launch. Sets up wine prefix and processes vulkan shaders, then gets stuck and quits.
I bought this game again through GOG and was able to play it using the Heroic Launcher. It must be a Steam thing.

great game!
only once. a reboot of the game fixed it.
Sometimes, the borderless window was offset. It was fixable by going to window mode, going back to the main menu and then switch back to borderless mode again.
.
Works absolutely fine

Was not able to get 5.1 surround sound work.
Runs great

-dx11
This game runs natively on Linux, but I only played with Proton-Experimental [bleeding-edge].
Settings in Max (only Texture in Medium to avoid high VRAM usage), 1080p windowed fullscreen with 60 FPS stable.
I preferred to play in DXVK (through -dx11), instead of the standard VKD3D (dx12), as for me, there was a lot of stuttering.
It's an amazing experience. An excellent 3D platform and adventure game.

Native doesn't have fullscreen mode. Newer proton versions were running at about 5FPS. With Proton 8-0-5 and forcing dx11 it runs perfectly.
-force -dx11
Tried running with newer proton versions, audio was cracking with forced dx11. 8-05 works perfectly.

This game will work fine on a desktop computer. However, need additional flags on laptops with dedicated graphics.
DRI_PRIME=1 gamemoderun %command%
I had black area at the bottom of a screen. In order to remove it, you may need to run the game with dedicated card or as a solution for integrated graphics:
- Switch mode in display settings into Windowed;
- Apply changes by returning back to a main menu;
- Press 'Alt + Enter' to enter again into borderless mode, but without black area for now.
On Fedora, you are supposed to switch the GPU manually to a dedicated card. It runs with an integrated one out of the box.
Firstly, I came up with a solution to run the GoG launch script in a game root directory:
switcherooctl launch $PWD/Psychonauts2.sh
Then, I found a much simpler solution with the DRI_PRIME flag, and it works like a charm ;-)

Played entirely on Steam Deck with all achievements unlocked. The game runs extremely well out of the box. 60fps at a mix of low and medium settings or 40fps at high settings are perfectly achievable and stable. The exception is the questionable area which tends to run lower due to a lot of foliage. Either lower your fps target or your settings when going through it.

I had no issues in playing the game and found the experience to be great.
There were a few bugs during my playthrough, but they were very infrequent and often resolved themselves shortly afterwards.
Works amazingly on steamdeck. Hit 60fps stable for the first level. Out of the box experience

file:///home/richard/Games/gog/psychonauts-2/game/Psychonauts2/Binaries/Linux/Psychonauts2-Linux-Shipping
start.sh script provided by GOG doesn't work, changed exec to /home/richard/Games/gog/psychonauts-2/game/Psychonauts2/Binaries/Linux/Psychonauts2-Linux-Shipping. Starts right up, great framerates at max settings.
Needed to change lauch exec to get it to start

Experienced single digit fps and high CPU usage/temps, even on the start screen

Runs great out of the box
slight inaccuracy with mouse input
only minor issue is with some slight mouse weirdness when selecting menu options

Use proton instead of native
Like stated elsewhere, Proton (8.0 in my case) will likely yield better performance than native. Native can lead to slowdowns in large areas even on low settings; switching to Proton lets me correctly play with High settings and no slowdowns.

gamemoderun %command% -dx11 -force
The Proton version ran well. Using the native version, after 10-20 minutes 99% of the screen would go black, making the game unplayable.
The Proton version runs better than the native version.

Sometimes reflecting materials would switch to bright materials like neon lights with a dark background.
the native build does not offer fullscreen

Game will crash sometimes after waking up from sleep
Plays really well on the default settings, I can get 2 and a half hours at low doing 60fps.

mangohud %command%
Native will crash as soon as you hit the wall where you are supposed to do the wall jump in the tutorial. Digging deeper into the problem reveals that the the game suddenly request a high amount of virtual memory, which will quickly be higher than physical memory (16GB) is available (however neither mangohud or htop show that the game actually uses that much memory). This will trigger a OOM which then kills the game
I have not tested the WIndows build of the game yet, but the native version is completely borked. You can not get further as the "wall jump" in the tutorial because of this "memory leak".
Nice port to Linux
A game publish by Xbox Game Studios with a native port to Linux it's really something that i'd never expect
With the native build, the frame rate is very unstable.
This game runs flawlessly native and would recommend everyone plays it as is.
It starts up with a small black border upon the bottom. The first time I loaded up the game I turned a setting specifically vsync on and off and it went away. Now when I load up the game it shows the black border on the intro video but then it goes away once it reaches the main menu. Really a non-issue just something I experienced.
I had to use a community controller layout to play with my dual sense controller. After that everything worked perfectly.
A great native linux port especially considering the horrible windowing issues of the first games native port.
The game options solve the problem easily.
Some area drop the frame but it's still good
Unlike the Native build, Psychonauts 2 runs great with Proton. Played at max settings all the way through the game to rank 102.
gamemoderun %command%
The first time I found stray thoughts with the Thought Tunner the camera locked in place. I couldn't change direction with either my Dualshock 4 or mouse. Had to restart the game to have camera movement again. Subsequent uses of the Thought Tunner didn't have this problem.
As someone that backed Psychonauts 2 on Fig both because I'm a fan of Psychonauts and for the promise of a native linux version, I find the native build we recieved rather dissapointing. The Native build delivered is honestly unplayable with how eratically the frametime fluctuates and with it's lack of actual fullscreen windowing. I'm pretty sad about the state of what will likely be the last native linux build for a Tim Schafer game. Don't bother with the Native build, just play the Windows version with Proton. The game itself is excelent and deservers your time.
The reason I'm using experimental rather than the stable branch (at time of writing 7.0-4) is because the start menu is wierdly laggy on stable, where as it works just as well as anything else in the game on experimental.
Screen capped at 40 fps, medium quality settings.
Some slowdowns especially in the forrest area, but overall playable.
Great game on Steam Deck at 40fps medium
-force -dx11
DirectX-11 provided massive performance improvements in <100 fps at 1440p.
Other than the pointless Linux build, the game plays beautifully
The Native build does not give a Fullscreen option, or any resolution adjustment. Proton does. Use Proton.
Use standard Proton
Some in-engine cutscenes near the end got pretty choppy but it could have easily been a regular optimization issue.
There's now also a native linux build that I haven't tested.
When waking the Steam Deck from sleep, the audio was crackling. Voice dialog was sped up as well.
I played through from start to finish, reaching rank 102 and thus 100%'ing the game. I had 0 issues, and the default controls felt nice. The game wasn't able to maintain 60fps on the default high graphics settings. I capped the fps at 30 and it was a good experience.
Putting my Deck to sleep and waking it back up caused some audio issues. The game played fine still, but the audio crackled and the VO was sped up. Simply restarting the game fixed it. This ONLY occurred when waking my device.

Works perfectly, have not noticed any issues at all.
I've only played through the intro mission but it's buttery smooth and I've encountered no serious issues.
-force -dx11
Only during the double-fine intro video
Just issues playing the double fine intro video
100% playthrough with a wii u pro controller. Everything worked great excluding videos. For working videos you need to use proton-GE.
-dx11

Finished the game with 100% completion without major issues aside from the rare controller problem
Proton-GE seems necessary to run the game in D3D11 mode.
Controller disconnected twice during 20 hours of gameplay and wouldn't be recognized by the game again. This could only be fixed by restarting the game.
Add -force -dx11
to the game's Launch Options to enable D3D11 and improve performance. In one scenario I tested it improved FPS from 80-90 to 100-110 FPS.

7.0rc3-GE-1 GloriousEggroll
Proton-7.0rc3-GE-1
Slightly choppy intro videos. Otherwise works perfectly fine.
