FPS limit to 30 FPS
Not able to maintain 60 FPS with all graphics options maxed out.
Since the game is not able to maintain steady 60 fps, it is recommended to limit the framerate to 30 in the Steam Deck performance menu. This way, you can tune the graphics to the max, enjoy great battery life, and have a smooth enough experience for a JRPG.
gamemoderun %command% --skip-launcher --vulkan
Use the game launcher (without adding any launch parameters) on the first run and select the Vulkan API. Start the game, reach the main menu, and then close it. After this, add the launch parameters skip-launcher and vulkan.
Aside from this, the game works perfectly out of the box, no tinkering needed. However, I need to add gamemoderun as a launch parameter to prevent my system from turning off the screen in KDE Plasma. This happens because controller inputs don't seem to count as system activity.
Random crashes without any apparent reason. They can cause you to lose a significant amount of progress if you haven't had the chance to sav
From time to time, the game crashes without any apparent reason.
Oversaturated colors because of the forced HDR on the Steam Deck OLED, but can be fixed using "DXVK_HDR=0 %command%" as a launch parameter.
DXVK_HDR=0 %command%
Colors are oversaturated because of the HDR on the Steam Deck OLED. There's no way to turn it off unless you specify "DXVK_HDR=0 %command%" as a launch parameter.
Better than the console experience or on Windows, but heavily hindered by the poor optimization of the engine.
Even if it performs slightly better on Pop!_OS than on Windows, there are still optimization issues. 95% of the time, it runs at 60 FPS or higher with all graphic options maxed out (no FSR3, no ray tracing) on a RX 7900 GRE, but occasionally the FPS drops to around 40.
Expect frame drops below 45 regardless of hardware.
It mostly runs at 60 FPS, but sometimes it drops in some areas for no apparent reason.
Runs like a charm. It's necessary to use the touch screen in the game launcher.
With the new update, the performance has decreased
Sometimes the sky flickers.
Since the update of the new graphics engine, performance has decreased by about 30% compared to Windows 11. It is still very high, especially on the old map (Stillwater Bayou), but in Mammon's Gulch, there are significant slowdowns when looking towards the center of the map (La Plata Mine).
Not recommended for the time being unless you have very powerful hardware. Otherwise, stick with Windows or accept the performance drop.
An amazing experience. Works out of the box with no tinkering.
Black flickering artifacts in the snow. Nothing significant because they're really small.
Locked the refresh rate to 50 Hz
Locking the screen refresh rate to 50 Hz allows pushing the graphical settings to the max.
Not recommended in its current state
Weird graphical glitches, polygons projecting into infinite
Constant stuttering
Sometimes the game will crash unpredictably
It works as if it were a native version of Linux. Also, fantastic battery life: between 3 and 5 hours with default settings.
Constant stuttering when playing and moving around.
Stuttering.
Switch to DX11 (DXVK) if using Nvidia, uneven frametime with DX12 (VKD3D)

Locked the refresh rate to 40 Hz, easily 3+ hours of play time
Graphics settings can be pushed to the max by locking the screen refresh rate to 40 Hz.
On the Steam Deck OLED, it runs at 90 fps. Since there's no graphical settings, it is recommended to set a TDP limit to maximize battery life.
Constantly crashes at random moments.
The game constantly crashes at random times, making for an incredibly frustrating experience. Sometimes it happens in the main menu, sometimes during dialogue, while traveling, or during combat.
It's necessary to manually copy the save file of the first game to continue the progress in this second part.

Also, it is necessary to manually copy the save file of the first game to continue the progress in the second part.
Perfect experience out of the box, no tinkering needed at all.
No stuttering, no random fps drops, perfect frame time graph. It just works.
