Startup freeze
The Linux port does not output audio on my system, so I tried Proton/Wine. Default Proton (5.13-1 now) would just show a black screen on startup, no logos or anything. When I initially used a GE version, I did get the first two logos, but the game would freeze....And that's still the case:
The game freezes up for about 30-36 seconds right after launching, but it seems to work fine afterwards. This occurred with three recent versions of Proton-GE-Custom (5.11-GE-3, 5.8-GE-2, 5.9-GE-8).
Works pretty well, but change your Proton if you get "Fatal Error" startup bug
Like the previous reports hint at, you may want to run this under Proton 5.0-9 if you're using vanilla Proton. Proton 5.1-3 (current as of this moment) gets the "Fatal Error" instant crash bug on my system.
Use proton instead of native
Like stated elsewhere, Proton (8.0 in my case) will likely yield better performance than native. Native can lead to slowdowns in large areas even on low settings; switching to Proton lets me correctly play with High settings and no slowdowns.
