Out the box, it works well, aside from aspect ratio being locked to 16:9 (see notes below). 3-4hrs battery life on OLED @ 40 FPS
40 FPS Lock
Not sure why this is so unreported here, but like all the other MH PC ports, 16:10 aspect ratio is not supported. Game will be stuck in 16:9 even with a 16:10 resolution selected.
This may not matter to some, but I find the lack of 16:10 support to be pretty distracting. You can somewhat work-around this by setting display mode to 'Full-screen' and the resolution to 1280x720, then in the Steam quick menu set scaling to either 'Stretch' (vertically fills the screen so things will look a little 'taller') or 'Fill' (fills the screen horizontally and vertically, so the left and right edges of the screen will be slightly cut off), whichever you prefer.
The unfortuante caveat for OLED users is that you cannot use HDR, which makes a large difference in this game (imo). When you set the display mode to HDR, gamescope does not stretch or fill the empty space, only in Full-screen. Overriding the display resolution in the game properties through Steam does not work either. So you must determine which caveat detracts the least from your experience and go with that route.
There are 2 aspect ratio fix mods, one via .dll plugin loader, and another via realtime .exe injection. I've verified neither of these work for Steam Deck. The .dll plugin technically works, but it only seems to support ultrawide above 21:9, not 16:10. For the .exe injection, I got it running with some instructions on the Steam forums, but it's not actually patching the app, and it seems to tank performance somewhat. However, it does work great when I'm streaming the game to my deck via Moonlight.
As for DX11 vs. DX12, some older reports here say that DX11 has artifacting and DX12 offers a substantial performance boost. However, in my testing on latest proton versions, I didn't note any substantial differences in visual stability, performance, nor battery life between the two.
I recommend MH Rise for a much better Steam Deck experience in every way. It still has the same aspect ratio issue (smh Capcom..) but you can use REFramework to fix it easily.

Make sure Directx12 is on in the ingame settings otherwise it will probably run like dogwater. If the option is greyed out ingame, you can edit the graphics_option.ini file in the root folder of the game in a text editor, and change DirectX12Enable=Off to DirectX12Enable=On

Decrease TDP to 11 Watts
The text is easy enough to read, but theres so much of it filling the little Steam Deck screen.
I've locked it to 45 FPS at 11 Watts to maximise battery life. Loving it so far. You can get more like 50-60 FPS on full 15 Watts.
It runs the same as windows, I get same performance and FPS without tinkering.

Excellent OOTBE
Running smoothly maxed out with 4K textures. Excellent experience overall.

Runs as if it was on windows

Es gab FPS Spikes in der DirectX 11 Version des Spieles einfach auf DirectX 12 ändern und alles lief Perfekt.
The game runs great with no issues.

unfortunately the crashes kept me from casually playing this game again after a few years
the game froze very often, depending on the mission. freezes occurred after just a few minutes or around 45 minutes into the mission. i tried changing some settings but it didn't solve the issue. i haven't investigated further because i'm not really interested in this game anymore. by "freeze" i mean that the game freezes and the pc comes totally unresponsive, forcing me to hard reboot it

Runs great ;)

Artifacting would occur when scoutflies were visable. Tried Proton Experimental and 9.0-4, but it seems to have resolved when switching to an older version (7.0-6).
I use a contoller when playing. Steam thinks the game is still open when quitting via the game's menu and locks my mouse in desktop, rending it completely unusable. Shift-Tab to Steam Overlay and exitting the game has been a reliable workaround. Not sure what is causing it.
Issues have not been that invasive, and has overall been a good experience.

Switching to experimental proton fixes my Bluetooth game pad problems!
I think it's the mesa package. On 25.1 it worked, but now steam can't be started with that version!

DLSS doesn't show up in settings, but game runs well enough that it's not needed.

Works out of box
Did not experience any issues. Multiplayer works as expected too.

Couldn't get this to run, messed with launch options, other proton versions.... Nothing worked, crashed on launch. Only solution that worked is using an older version of Proton

Crashes upon launching
tried a bunch of launch options
Game window opens but is vertical and black, and an error message pops up. Title : Fatal error. Text : E_FAIL : pFactory->CreateSwapChain(getDvice11(), &desc, &pswap_chain)

There is currently a bug with Steam that degrades game performance significantly if you don't use the aforementioned launch arguements. https://github.com/ValveSoftware/steam-for-linux/issues/11446
Be sure to use those optional arguements in the Properties menu of every game in Steam that isn't linux-native.

Game forces bluetooth headphones to fallback to headset head unit profile upon launch, regardless if voice chat is enabled or not. Can be manually set back to the regular profile after launch.
Overall its pretty good.

Played with essential mods & reshade (MH World Reshade Hook on nexusmods site). Mods were installed & managed with Vortex on Bottles.
If you like hunting monsters play this on PC.

works fine. if you have issues, try disabling directx 12 in game settings
i tried enabling directx 12 in game settings, but it caused weird graphical glitches and the game freezed after 20 minutes, forcing me to reboot the pc. after disabling directx 12, the game runs fine without graphical issues or crashes

With the exception of vertex explosion issues fixes for every problem I've had have been easy to find on the forums.

Audio in cutscenes were often out of sync.
Physics objects and certain meshes have serious vertex explosion issues. lowering mesh detail setting helped but didnt fix entirely.
10 ish fps lower than my windows version on the same machine. Frame time and stutters are common, but not severe.
The Scarlet Forest zone causes the game to freeze completely if texture resolution is set to medium or higher.

With default proton everything works exept small embedded tutorial videos that fail to play due to lacking a codec. GE-Proton fixes it. DX12 renderer performs slightly better, lowers GPU usage and has shorter loading times for some reason.

Froze during cutscenes in base game. (only on GE-8 and older base Proton)
No big issues on my current Proton version. I love this game and its playability on Linux

Way too many bugs to enjoy the game, especally while fighting lala barina, it's like a 90% freeze probability.
A lot of artifacts (can't see the screen sometimes)
FPS drop sub 30 some times even at low setting
Does freeze often.
Needs to be fixed.

No tinkering required, it just works.
Loading quests in a multiplayer lobby sometimes freezes the game until you restart it.
Ran without any issues to speak of, a perfect experience!
It just works. If anything World runs better on Linux than it does on Windows

Nearly perfectly OOTB with 1 minor issue
Function keys (F1, F2, etc...) wouldn't work for some reason so I can't switch my radial loadouts with the default keybinds.
Performance was pretty much identical to Windows. No issues with save data transferring over. Even online multiplayer and mods worked flawlessly!

40~ fps for the most part with minor stuttering during intense moments involving multiple hunters and monsters. Monsters like Teostra and Lunastra cause significant fps drops in the later parts of their fight but they seem to be the only exception. Mods require some tinkering to setup but work perfectly.
Runs great

Game runs fine but battery life is a bit lacking and audio crackles without custom launch options

I switched Steam Input on and off a few times and it eventually detected my controller, but I had Steam Input off when I started playing and when it finally detected the controller, so I don't know why it worked afterwards and not before.
