For whatever reason, right analog stick is inverted by default. I just un-reversed it.
The game can either run at 30 or 60 FPS locked. I changed the Deck refresh rate to 60 Hz for that reason.
Install Ubisoft Connect through protontricks. This will supercede the Uplay client and make the game actually launch.
I set Eagle Vision to L4. Not required, just useful.
Decreased the TDP to 10W. This increases OLED battery life to 6.5 hours.
Due to Ubisoft not supporting the game anymore, multiplayer does not work.
Make sure to install protontricks from the Discover store (Desktop mode). Use it to install Ubisoft Connect on Assassins Creed: Revelations. Also, set the game to launch in Proton Experimental. From there, the game will function flawlessly.
I decreased the TDP limit down to 8 Watts.
The launch window has to be pressed using the touchscreen (or a mouse). I couldn't find any way around it.
As long as you use GE Proton, it works fine! The game is locked to 60 FPS. I've tried updating the config files without any luck.
Set the TDP to 10W (90Hz)
All is perfect. No tinkering required locked at 90FPS
Game runs completely fine by default. Another one that has no reason not to be Steam Verified.
Ran the game at a locked 90FPS on Normal settings. No issues at all.
gamemoderun %command%
Resolution occassionally reset to 720p when using "Alt" + "Enter". I always just changed it back in the settings with no problem.
No problems of any kind. I tried the campaign co-op and zombies without issue.
No issues out of the box. Very successful!
gamemoderun %command%
Looking at certain things, the game would suddenly go down from 80 FPS to 30 FPS. Very clearly based on what I am looking at.
If you cap the game at a low FPS, it should be fine. Felt very upsetting running at 30FPS on an RTX 3080.
Works perfectly with no tinkering
Had a great experience! Hooked up my controller without issue and got straight to playing with max settings at 1440p.
Needed to log into Ubisoft Connect every time you launch the game. Very annoying.
The crackling was very minor. Slightly noticeable whilst driving.
I set my Refresh Rate to 45 Hz. Game worked happily. No framerate drops yet.
Set the TDP Limit to 8 Watts, as the game is so well optimised even as a Demo.
I played at 8 Watts at 90FPS. All worked perfectly. No lag, no small text, perfect!
Works great, especially for the price
The game works great 99% of the time. For some reason, when selecting another car and pressing "Get In", it would crash consistently on ONE of my cars. Not sure what it was about, but that's the only crashing I had throughout.
I'm very happy overall! Aside from that little bug, it works perfectly. I'm on Fedora 40 on an RTX 3080. No issues, nice high FPS. Very happy.
Got this game for free on Epic Games. Just completed it today. Downloaded it via Heroic Launcher (auto adding it to Steam).
Game worked perfectly. High/Epic settings at a locked 144 FPS. Dropped a tiny bit to 120 FPS, but never during the action.
gamemoderun %command%
I don't have the campaign, but multiplayer works fine without issue. The only slow-downs are how long it takes to launch (which I remember being the same in Windows).
Only happens whilst playing Coop Career. I fixed it by switching to Proton GE 8-27. Since then, I've had no issues!
It crashed before switching to Proton GE 8-27. Since using that, there have been no issues!
Perfectly fine once you switch to Proton GE 8-27. Before switching, the game would crash (specifically Halo Reach).
Decreased TDP to 8 Watts
Only the tiniest issue. At 8W TDP, I would get a lag spike when "KO"ing a guard. Other than that, no issues at all!
Very happy with the game. It ran with predicted 6 hours of battery. Locked at 90FPS the whole time.
bash -c 'exec "${@/%"PDLauncher/LauncherPatcher.exe"/KSP2_x64.exe}"' -- %command%
The launcher still fails, but if you run the command to skip the launcher, the game runs fine with a great FPS and no issues.
Game ran perfectly
I completed this game entirely on Fedora Linux. No issues at all. Ran at High settings 100 FPS throughout.
Works out of the box
No issues at all. Identical to how Windows runs.
I had issues accepting the T&Cs. For whatever reason, it wouldnt allow my mouse to click accept. After re-launching a few times, it worked fine.
After that, the game ran well! Roughly 100 FPS on High settings.
Use the "Medium" graphics preset and set the Frame Limit to 30FPS
The game runs without issue. Lock it to 30FPS and the Steam Deck OLED will run for 2 hours on this game. It could probably do 40FPS with a couple of microstutters. The game at Medium settings looks great too!
Works perfectly, but not optimised yet.
Occassionally, the game would freeze whilst launching. Closing and restarting fixed this with it never happening outside of the launch cutscenes.
The game works great. I have an RTX 3080 on Fedora 40. As of July, the game isn't yet optimised. I was playing at 80FPS on the "Quality" graphics preset (1440p)
STEAM_COMPAT_DATA_PATH="/home/henry/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/3135525423" %command%
Disable Dynamic Refractions in the settings. That increased my FPS from 50-60 to a locked 165 (my monitor's refresh rate).
You'll need to set up the BattleNet launcher and then use that Launcher to run Overwatch 2. I found that I needed to log into BattleNet every single time I launched the game. Annoying, but not the end of the world.
Furthermore, for some reason I NEEDED the BattleNet mobile authenticator enabled on my phone to play Overwatch 2. Not sure if this is caused by Linux or not. That mobile authenticator is a piece of shit which ONLY WORKS IF GOOGLE CHROME IS YOUR DEFAULT MOBILE BROWSER.
Locked to 45 FPS
Decrease the settings to Medium (except set Texture Quality to high). The game should run without any issues.
Works fine
Game decreased from 100-120 FPS to 40 FPS briefly a couple of times when first starting a mission. Seemed to go away after a while.
The complaints of other people seem to have been addressed now. I had no issues with anticheat, secondary installers, etc.
run com.heroicgameslauncher.hgl --no-gui --no-sandbox "heroic://launch/legendary/e3306721e7c64f1cbf71235bcb260d53"
The only issues I had were minor, and matched that of Windows:
The game menus require you to use "Q" or "E" to switch tabs. It's clearly meant for a controller, without basic considerations for mice.
Also, the game is gracious enough to let you chose between 30FPS locked or 60FPS locked. You cannot play unlocked, or at a modern FPS. This is not Linux-specific, just annoying.
Decrease the TDP to 5W. That should give 7 hours of charge on the Steam Deck OLED
Game works amazingly. I got it for free from Epic Games and its great!
PROTON_USE_EAC_LINUX=1 DXVK_ASYNC=1 LD_PRELOAD="" %command%
On my system, it ran perfectly. No issues with the only, matchmaking, etc. Ran at 90-110 FPS the whole time.
Decreased TDP to 8W
Great little game for the Steam Deck. Works completely fine. I decreased the TDP to 8W but was still fine to hit a consistent 90 FPS.
The game asked me to install some Microsoft dependencies. I clicked "Accept". They installed and the game launched without issue.
I received this game on Epic Games and added it to Steam via the Heroic Launcher. I set the settings to Medium and played happily in Edgewater (the first town) at 55-60 FPS. Happy with that.
I'm not far through the game, but happy so far!
WINEDLLOVERRIDES="d3dcompiler_47=n;dxgi=n,b" STEAM_COMPAT_DATA_PATH="/home/henry/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/3135525423" %command%
Online works just as well as on Windows. Ubisoft Connect will forget to tell you that you've been invited to a session, but it did that on Windows. All is as expected.
If you use STEAM_COMPAT_DATA_PATH to link to your Ubisoft instance, it works perfectly. I've not had any issues, and play online with my friends every day.
Completely playable, and fun! But it's not going to hit the 60/90 FPS max settings that a game from 2010 should.
WINEDLLOVERRIDES=systemdetection=d PULSE_MSEC_LATENCY=60 WINE_CPU_TOPOLOGY="4:0,1,2,3" STEAM_COMPAT_DATA_PATH="/home/deck/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/4115559277" %command%
Changed some of the keys to make more sense to me.
Set the FPS limit to 30.
A warning will come up saying "Cannot find systemdetection.dll" twice, but can be ignored.
For such an old game, it should have easily hit 90 FPS locked on maximum settings. Instead, it would lag if I set the graphics above medium.
Follow the steps that I stated, and it should work fine. I set up Ubisoft as a non-Steam game and used the "STEAM_COMPAT_DATA" to link it. In theory, Proton Tricks should have also worked.
WINEDLLOVERRIDES="version=n,b" STEAM_COMPAT_DATA_PATH="/home/deck/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/4115559277" %command%
Follow these steps:
ProtonTricks
- Open ProtonTricks in Desktop Mode.
- Select your prefix for Splinter Cell: Conviction.
- Select "Select the default wineprefix".
- Select "Install a Windows DLL or Component".
- Scroll down and install "vcrun6sp6".
Installing the Fusion Mod
This fixes many issues with older games, including the systemdetection, DOF, bad control scheme, etc.
- Download the mod - https://github.com/ThirteenAG/WidescreenFixesPack/releases/tag/scc
- Extract it using Ark.
- Navigate to your Splinter Cell Conviction downloaded files.
- Make a backup of them just in case on your Desktop.
- Copy the "src" folder from the mod into your Splinter Cell Conviction folder and allow it to write into directories.
Testing it Worked
- Go into Game Mode.
- Change your launch options. My STEAM_COMPAT_DATA_PATH is the prefix that I have Ubisoft Connect installed on. If you installed Ubisoft Connect a different way, use that.
- Set ProtonGe.
Decreased TDP limit to 12W
Follow the steps I've provided, and you should be able to max out the settings, running at 90FPS on a 12W TDP.
Before making these changes, I was stuck at Low settings at 480p and only hitting 20FPS. Old game issues mostly.
Played throughout with a friend who was on Windows. No issues of any kind at any point. This includes in the Dark Zone with other random players. No need to do anything fancy with anticheat or anything.
I've been playing this game both on my Steam Deck and my RTX 3080 gaming PC. No issues at all. Multiplayer is completely fine, too.
-windowed
On Steam Big Picture mode ONLY, I had to set -windowed
to launch the game (and then it launches into fullscreen anyway). This is something to do with the pre-game launcher. If you don't use Steam Big Picture, you won't need to do this.
One time that I launched, I received lag spikes. A restart sorted this, and I've never had it since. It seems to be a one-off.
Very happy overall. Aside from the Big Picture mode bug, no issues. Very happy, I doubt you'll have any issues. I'm running on an RTX 3080 and Fedora 40.
Set the controls to more closely match the XCOM: Enemy Unknown controls.
Locked the FPS to 60. That gives about 2 hours.
Menu text is quite small. No easy way I can see to resize it.
Before switching to GE Proton, the game would crash occassionally. Switching to GE Proton fixed this entirely.
