Runs perfect out of the box
Performance is excellent and runs smoothly on my setup.
Runs correctly OOTB
Alt-tabbing may cause the game to silently crash.
Issues are not Linux related, it can occur on Windows as well.
It has a 30fps cap, so I recommend editing the .ini files to increase frame rate and disable intro videos.
Works like a charm
Tested on two different systems; my main rig running Arch and a Ryzen laptop with on-board graphics running Fedora. Works perfectly out of the box. Just download and play!
Probably the first UE5 game that played smoothly this close to release on my setup. Just download and play, no tinkering needed. Fantastic game, btw. Enjoy!
Runs perfectly like native
Game works just like native, with better fullscreen image quality even.
I tried to run with Experimental, but had some issues with image tearing while in fullscreen and it not allowing me to use my mouse outside of the game window. Just play with regular Proton 9 and it should be fine.
Demo works great out of the box
Didn't have any issues or crashes throughout the demo.
Game works perfect, no tinkering required
Over 7 hours of playtime with zero issues. Steam Input required for Dualsense.
Open beta running perfectly OOTB
Played multiple matches online and ran through the tutorial. Excellent performance.
Runs perfect ootb; Moguri Mod just makes it even better
The game run perfectly out of the box, no tinkering required. Plus, Memoria launcher + Moguri Mod works flawlessly as well, this is my recommended setup for IX.
Currently unplayable on Nvidia
Environment is missing textures on Nvidia cards. Seems to be related to a driver bug that was reported. Game's using raytracing by default. Here: https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/8408#issuecomment-2610069931
PYROVEIL=1 %command%
A workaround was developed by HansKristian-Work that fixes the Nvidia driver bug:
- Clone and build https://github.com/HansKristian-Work/pyroveil by following the instructions on the github page.
- Copy the .json file included in the hacks folder to the game's install folder.
- Delete any proton cache files present (vkd3d-proton.cache and vkd3d-proton.cache.write) in the End/Binaries/Win64 directory.
- Add the launch options provided above and run the game.
The game is now rendering the environment textures as expected. I'm also experience some slight performance gains over native too.
(Update) Runs great out of the box with current Nvidia driver
Missing environment textures are now fixed with Nvidia driver 570.133.07. Excelent performance with no tinkering required.
Game works flawlessly
Aside from the launcher running kinda choppy, actual game runs pretty much 100% perfect, same as native. XIVLauncher is recommended.
WINEDLLOVERRIDES="DINPUT8=n,b" %command%
It works okay without tinkering, but at least on Nvidia it's a lesser experience when compared to native due to lower and inconsistent frame rates. You can probably enjoy the game as is, (and the PC port is also not the greatest tbf) but keep in mind you'll have considerably worst performance here.
Perfect OOTBE
Haven't tested multiplayer yet, but overall game runs perfectly on Linux.
Perfect experience with Proton
Full playthrough running the game perfectly out of the box. Native version wouldn't start on my setup for whatever reason, but default Steam proton did the trick.
Runs great out of the box
Game used to require some tinkering to run on some Wayland configurations. I tested it recently and now it plays as expected out of the box, no extra steps needed.
Runs perfectly OOTB
On Arch, the launcher will notify that your OS is unsupported. Just ignore the warning and play the game.
Played a couple hours of matches. No issues whatsoever.
Works perfect
Beat MM1 through MM3 with zero issues, runs perfect out of the box. Steam Input required for Dualsense.
Excellent OOTBE
Running smoothly maxed out with 4K textures. Excellent experience overall.
Works perfectly out of the box
Haven't tried multiplayer yet, but overall gameplay experience is solid.
Gameplay is working as good as native. FMVs won't play properly with standard Proton, but works perfectly with ProtonGE.
Steam Input required for Dualsense
Played a full run of both Sonic and Shadow portions. Runs perfectly at 4K@60 with excelent performance.
Note: There's a crash when trying to open the options menu in Shadow Generations at certain resolutions on Wayland, however same issue was reported to happen on Windows as well. Crash doesn't happen at 1080p.
Works perfect OOTB
I played mostly on native, then finished the game on Linux. Load times seems to be considerably faster on Linux.
Perfect OOTBE
Full playthrough of Canon of Vengeance with zero issues, runs like native.
Works as expected: as bad as native
Random freezes, constant stuttering, slow loading times, music sometimes doesn't play on title menu...
All of these are present in pretty much every version, none of it is because of Linux. Aside of the actual port being bad, you can expect a 1:1 experience to Windows, bugs and all.
Works great out of the box
Running perfectly on my setup. Steam Input required for Dualsense support.
Full playthrough with zero issues
Extremely rare pixel artifacts in some levels. Experience was non-disruptive.
Runs great out of the box
Weird stuttering when game is saving progress
Only weirdness I've experienced was everytime the game would auto save, it's stutters. Minor annoyance, but doesn't affect actual gameplay and I can't tell if it's on my end. Played through all main games and Game Gear collection, everything works as expected.
Perfect OOTBE!
Excelent experience overall. Major improvement over ToV:DE with no microstutters, it runs butter smooth up to 120fps. Settings can be changed after selecting New Game.
Playstation controllers work natively, but disable Steam Input to get PS button prompts.
Runs perfectly OOTB
Over 70 hours os gameplay, no issues at all. Runs like native.
Open beta working out of the box.
Both casual and ranked matches, working perfect.
Multiple matches online with zero issues. Perfect experience!
Game became playable using GE-Proton10-7 or later. Performance is on par with native and no issues with anti-cheat either.
