Runs without any tweaks but very low framerate (30fps) and some minor graphical glitches.
gamemoderun PROTON_DXVK_ASYNC=1 %command%
Some stuttering and lower than expected performance, given my hardware.
Played the first few levels of the demo. Works really well other than some general stuttering and lower than expected framerates.
Plays perfect after using mf-install
Videos do not play without the mf-install workaround
Sometimes audio quality is borked if sounds are supposed to be louder than others (i.e explosions etc)
Use Proton-5.4-GE-1 with mf-install for a perfectly playable experience. I played the whole campaign with zero issues (other than those mentioned)
Load times for single player are very long (10mins), even with an SSD. There is then lots of stuttering once you are in.. Multiplayer works fine but you have to deal with further stuttering whilst the shader caches. Also worth noting almost no one is playing the multiplayer. I'd skip this.
Works fine on a mix of high/medium/low, but only at about 55-70 FPS
Probably about a 20% or more performance loss given my hardware
Works if you can get in. Frequently freezes at the loading screen.
I have played the game for a couple of hours, albeit with significant performance issues, but for the most part you can't get passed the loading screen and into the game.
gamemoderun %command% --launcher-skip -skipStartScreen
Flickering black every so often, more so when indoors. It's infuriating.
No mouse in overlay which means you need to alt-tab to accept invites. The game will also sometimes disconnect you from multplayer, but I can't nail down why. Otherwise works perfectly.
After symlink (mentioned in previous comments) it works perfectly. 75+fps on Ultra.
gamemoderun %command%
Would crash anytime from 5 minutes to over an hour. Seems to happen mostly in transitions from menus/loading screens.

Proton-GE
Could have been due to DXVK_ASYNC
Runs fine if you select 32-bit mode (otherwise you will have really bad audio glitches). There are issues with some effects after a while, they will blow out and be crazy coloured. There is also some crackling still with the audio, but generally it's playable.
Works perfectly with very minor hitching. Never played on Windows so can't attest to any performance loss but I was capped at 90fps using high/ultra at 1440p.
Not quite yet.
Loads fine as others have suggested, but with mouse issues (solved by navigating using your keyboard) and it crashes once you select a save. Even disabling Esync and enabling LAA did not fix this for me.

Performance is fairly terrible (dropping to sub 30fps when venting atmosphere inside the ship) but this may not be exclusive to Proton.
Works perfectly out of the box. Does not require any launch parameters.
Controller didn't always work correctly. Stop/start on inputs.
Tutorial videos do not seem to play
Hexedit on the .exe for true ultrawide support
Flickering lights in some scenes
Works well, had no real issues.
Origin client and its overlay splits itself into many small bits. This didn't play well with my TWM and would crash before the game could launch. Changing these windows to floating fixed the issue.
No intro or skill videos, but otherwise worked perfectly.
Played the first two levels of the demo, worked perfectly.
Set PFX to Win7 with:
protontricks 275850 win7
Works great with no tweaks. There is occasional stuttering but completely manageable.
Works perfectly with AMDVLK and the new Vulkan renderer, silky smooth.
Must use AMDVLK otherwise there is heavy artifacting. If you have it installed (along with mesa) use
VK_ICD_FILENAMES=/usr/share/vulkan/icd.d/amd_icd32.json:/usr/share/vulkan/icd.d/amd_icd64.json %command%
as a launch parameter to use AMDVLK for this game specifically.
Tabbing out when in fullscreen crashes the game. Switch to Windowed Fullscreen
Crashes between loading minigames. Changing proton versions didn't seem to resolve this (tried GE, 7.0-1, 4.11, etc)
Multiplayer worked perfectly, with the exception of the crashing loading minigames.
Unable to pass the Rockstar Launcher as of the latest update, so unable to play on any version of Proton
WINEDLLOVERRIDES=dxgi=n,b gamemoderun %command% -vulkan
Perfect with 5.0-9, 60fps with everything on ultra. Run GE first for the intro then switch over to Proton for a stutter free experience.
Constant crashing
Game crashes after loading into a map. This only started after the recent updates, and isn't fixed as of 2025-06-03. Happens any time from entering the map up until ~20 mins.
Game will not progress pass the 'Loading Journal' section. Neither Proton 5.07 nor Proton-GE-MF-2 work.
Tried: Installing corefonts, selecting XAudio library using protontricks
Works great once you protontricks to Windows 7 and place the custom `winhttp.dll` in the correct folder.
Run protontricks winecfg to change to Windows 7
Microphone does not work
Runs slightly slower than native Windows.
You are required to log in to your Microsoft account everytime you start the game.
You require a custom winhttp.dll
file to get the connection working to the SoT servers. Check the Github issue page (linked at the top) to obtain this file and where to place it.
rename bin/StrangeBrigade_Vulkan.exe
to StrangeBrigade.exe
I also ran FeralGamemode and RADV_PERFTEST=aco
Force Steam Play compatibility as the game has behind the scenes Linux support, but it doesn't work with multiplayer (Error: Failed to Join)
Set max_worker_threads
to be roughly half of available threads, otherwise there are regular crashes.
Alt-Tab can be funky sometimes.
No tweaks needed. Runs out of the box at good framerate and auto-detects xbox controller.
6.16-GE-1 GloriousEggroll
Game runs very poorly considering the hardware. Does not appear to happen on Windows.
