Set everything to low without upscaling.
TDP set to 9w, refresh rate set to 40.
Sometimes audio was out of sync but after restarting the game issue was fixed .
Without TDP and refresh rate limit the game dries out the battery in no time with Steam Deck working extremely loud. Mentioned settings allow to play comfortably without the need for headset to cancel vent noise.
Significant frame drops when changing DLSS settings
I could never play this game on Windows, due to AMD's terrible support for DX11. However, on Linux, it's absolutely perfect. I locked the framerate at 60, and it's very smooth and stable. I never had a single drop. Just finished the game and was an amazing experience.
The game runs well at a lower resolution but may appear blurry due to the upscaling
The overwhelming majority of this game runs great. No FPS issues or graphical bugs, no tinkering needed. There were occasional freezes throughout the game (like one every 5-10 hours), but they were manageable. Except for two areas - a trip on a boat in a very cold place late in the game, as well as the final boss of the game. Frequent system freezes occured to me in those two parts.
Through the first, I could get with several retries. For the final boss I had to switch over to Windows, since it was absolutely not manageable. This is apparently an error related to AMD graphics cards that may occur on some linux systems and with some games (amdgpu: ring gfx_0.0.0 timeout). It seems very hard to pinpoint and reproduce, so most people would probably not even experience it. Those who do, however, should seriously consider switching over to another system for the two gameplay segments I mentioned.
Game crashes right after the main menu and the playstation cras report window shows. I have tried everything. Nothing works. Game is toast on the deck, period.

This game has a memory leak problem and crashes the game. If it does crash, it's best to reboot the Steam Deck.

Works perfectly on first launch with experimental proton
After increasing swap-space from the meager 1GB default to 16GB (8GB might also work I guess) the game ran like a charm - no freezing, no rebooting, no resetting of the steam-deck.
Then I also did a little tweaking as described in "https://steamdeckhq.com/game-reviews/god-of-war-2018/#comment-1540".
From that point on, I finished the game without any problems.
In my previous report, I said it was great experience and I support that, just i forgot to mention something for Nvidia users

I forgot to mention something last time and that is, if you have Nvidia GPU, make sure you export these variables in your .bashrc

Before like 5 months or more ago, God of War in highest graphics with no DLSS would give me 40 - 60 which was horrible compared to what Windows would give me. I was soo sad that I couldn't play my favourite game which I finished completely multiple times so i didn't need to play it but still ....
Now, I tried it again, but now its working... I started with the Queen Valkryie fight immediately which first gave me poor performance but thats something Windows would do too because its compilation but afterwards, like 5 - 10 mins, it was similar to or even better than Windows which made my eyes tear.

For the people having stability issues and stuff this fixed all my issues Display mode: borderless motion blur/film grain OFF AMD FSR 2.0 QUALITY, FSR Sharpening 0.3 Texture quality: Low/Medium Model quality/ Shadows / Reflection / Ambient Occlusion: Original Anistropic Filter ULTRA Limit FPS to 30
Game slows down over the course of 30 minutes or so until it completely freezes and requires a hard shutdown of the Steam Deck.
This game will eventually degrade so much while playing you must turn the entire console off.
memory leak makes the game unplayable after about 30 minutes
once the memory leak sets in the game slows down so much that i cant even reaccess the steam menu to shut it down. I need to turn off the deck completely

I would not recommend anyone playing with the frustration of trying to figure out when the game is going to crash.

The game frequently crashes. You must lower the game's graphic settings due to a well known memory problem.
Steam Deck frequently crashed due to running out of memory, rendering the console completely unresponsive. You have to hard reset the console.
This game does not deserve the "Steam Deck Verified" badge and would recommend against playing it in a system without a ton of spare RAM.

Without the option I listened before the FPS tanks in some areas, sometimes could be below 30 but after the customization everything is +- alright
You can play even as it is but in some scenarious the performance can be quite low, around 30FPS
I would not recommend this game on the steam deck, it crashes, it over heats the steam deck, it stutters.
the game is slow, it stutters, overheats the steam deck and freezes after 20-30 mins
I gave up on this game, ended up playing it on a PC instead
