Seems like native.
Ultrawidw e doesn't work, same as windows There is a fix here
Game is laggy unless played on Proton 4.2. With that version everything works perfectly.
Using the mf-install script to play the game https://github.com/z0z0z/mf-install
Game works after the script, but for some reason FPS are subpar (40-45 with drops to 20) with the system hardware.
Playing Epic Store free version, game is missing some libraries to work. What you need to do is install Epic Store through lutris using lutris website script. Then install City of Brass through the Epic Store and then apply this fix in the wineprefix
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1IajQcm5FyokCIQKSeXM07JACQLO9k-7A/view
as seen at this Shadows Awakening video (same problem)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B_OlCMvWfEE
Remember to change the script last two lines according to where your wineprefix is located. The game itself runs perfectly after that (1 hour test), performance is less than Win$.
Completed the whole game without any issues, everything went fine out of the box.
Had to install faudio to make sound work.
Aiming is broken if you play above 60 FPS, the same as Windows.
Game works, I just used the trick to unlock FPS, making a new txt file on game folder and naming it user.ini. Content of the file must be "gmpcr_unlock_frame_rate=true", but beware if you play above 60 FPS there are tons of glitches and he game goes crazy (exactly the same as windows), I just set my monitor refresh rate to 60 and enabled Vsync on game. The main problem with the game aside from all listed is that it crash about 2-3 mins into playing. Haven't found any solution about this yet.
This game is close to being fully playable, just finding what makes it crash, but I'm not much that of a tech savvy.
Just install faudio and xact with protontricks.
You have to play on Proton 3-16-9 to avoid crashes
Everything is the same as my last review, but now crashes are gone, you have to play on Proton 3.16-9
Install Feral gamemode https://github.com/FeralInteractive/gamemode and use "gamemoderun %command%" for better performance.
Runs out of the box, in my case I didn't need to choose DX9 on launcher, character were perfectly visible and no glitches whatsoever.
Some minor problems with ultrawide (21:9) setup on menus and UI, same problem in windows, nothing problematic or game breaking.
Runs out of the box
As all other games, install Feral gamemode
https://github.com/FeralInteractive/gamemode
and use "gamemoderun %command%" for better performance.
As everyone else had said just 1. Disable UPlay overlay 2. Add PROTON_FORCE_LARGE_ADDRESS_AWARE=1 %command% to the launch options and the game will run.
For me a bit less performance than Win$
You must first install uplay with the lutris script of Far Cry Primal, let it on and then install the game from steam
Using Litrus script.
I fixed all audio issues with the Faudio script.
As other far cry titles there is some weird shadows artifacts when close to objects, still looking how to fix it (other far cry titles was disabling some graphical options-)
Game works perfectly after you apply the media foundation patch. Finished the game + all achievements with 0 issues.
You have to install media foundation patch for the game to work, follow instructions on https://github.com/z0z0z/mf-install
Also, if you have an ultrawide screen be sure to do this to get the full experience https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1607967108
Works fkawkessky out of the box.
Use latest Glorious Eggroll Proton with FSR patches and Feral Gamemode, and this commands on steam to greatly improve performance
Game runs way worse than GTA V on same hardware, but with some steps you can get good frames.
WINE_FULLSCREEN_FSR=1 gamemoderun %command%
I'm running 80-100 FPS everything on ultra on my specs, without FSR I could barely reach 60. Great performance with those tweaks and a great enjoyable experience on this classic. 0 crashes. I'm using this patch for better experience
Game can't start since 9.17 update due to anti cheat software.
Game worked great until 9.17 update, this brings anticheat making the game unplayable on Linux.
Update 25/09 solved the problem with anticheat and game is perfectly playable out of the box again.
Game was a scam, it doesn't work with Proton (or in windows)
Game freezes as soon as interacting with the UI.
I'd tried several versions of proton, GE included, windowed... Also I own a steam deck and tried all there too.
Sometimes I could access the game options, or even press the play button, but eventually it freezes. Not working. On my system or on my steam deck.
gamemoderun %command%
Updating my review. After I tried the game on Windows (finishing the tutorial and playing a mission) I reinstalled the game on Linux and it finally worked as intended (no more freezes, nice performance, multiplayer worked 0 problems).
I guess if you can finish the tutorial on another machine you should be able to play this game.
Mistery for me.
Controller won't work on this game, probably because Origin, but have to try more to see what's going on.
You have to turn off AA if playing on ultrawide resolution or else you'll experience artifacts.
I couldn't make my xbox controller to work.
I'm playing on ultrawide, had to tweak some settings and apply mods from Nexus hasn't proven to be an easy task, but so far, community bugfixes and FOV fix through ME3Tweaks Mod Manager (installed through Lutris) are working.
My recommendation for a smooth experience is launching the game with
WINE_FULLSCREEN_FSR=1 WINE_FULLSCREEN_FSR_STRENGTH=2 gamemoderun %command%
WINE_FULLSCREEN_FSR_STRENGTH=3 WINE_FULLSCREEN_FSR=1 %command%
Huge stutters while building shader cache, gaem is ok after that.
Playing with GE 7.13 and EAC runtime installed on steam library.
Game runs nice after building shader cache. EAC issues solved with latest GE.
DXVK_ASYNC=1 PROTON_HIDE_NVIDIA_GPU=0 PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 gamemoderun %command%
Game works great. Good performance with DLSS, online is superb, no crashes. As always first time playing some maps cause sttuter while the shader cache is building, but after that no more issues.
Runs perfectly out of the box
Use PROTON_FORCE_LARGE_ADDRESS_AWARE=1 %command% for extra smoothness.
UI and font size for higher resolutions is very small, same problem in windows. Just set your resolution lower to better UI scaling.
Game is capped at 60 FPS for me, generally not good performance for higher settings despite system specs. Anyway, if you disable grass and set options to good or medium is perfectly playable.
Runs flawlessly out of the box

To play ultrawide
Needed to disable the steam overlay to play the game. Game will freeze on start otherwise.
Game installs and works out of the box. Max graphic options, no stagger or problems after several hours playing (solo and online).
I play ultrawide screen 3440x1440, game starts always windowed, I just ALT+ENT and it's fixed. Usually I have to do it even playing.
Install Feral gamemode https://github.com/FeralInteractive/gamemode and use "gamemoderun %command%" for better performance.
Proton 5.21-GE-1 GloriousEggroll
Using glorious eggroll custom proton and vortex mod manager through Lutris.
Using GE custom proton fixes all the sound and related problems, also you can use Vortex Mod manager in Lutris and GE will detect and work flawlessly with mods. Not very difficult, just installing custom GE and everything works nice.
Game runs with Vulkan, seems like a native game as it was just install and play. Performance is perfect, online features work.
Just add gamemoderun %command% to launch options to squeeze more performance.
With proton 4-11-1 game works perfect after adding PROTON_USE_D9VK=1 %command%
I was getting flickering using default launch option or black menu trying DX9. That command and the game works flawlessly on default launch option.
Game works native without any issues.
Vulkan layer works out of the box, performance is same if not better as Windows. In any case it has performance issues and stuttering yet (beta state) on both platforms.
I followed instructions from @Quiet user review and it works flawlessly.
Game runs well, great performance even at highest settings on 3440x1440, ALT+TAB works but you can't go back to the game.
ALt-Tab kills the game
Game coop and multiplayer is shit, but it's the same as the windows version.
Game works out of the box if you play it without the launcher.
You have to run the game without the launcher to get it to work. Mods aren't working.
There is a QoL mod pack that doesn't work, maybe someone with better understanding can find how to fix that.
When EAC is fixed to work in Linux Proton this game will work perfectly on Linux, until then no way to play it.
Game runs performance wise the same if not better than in windows with same specs, most surprising taht temps (GPU and CPU) and FPS were better with Proton. Sadly, as the game uses EAC you are launched straight to untrusted world, where progression isn't saved and you only can play with others untrusted players.
Game will only launch if using temporary_launcher_workaround in beta options.
To make the game work use Litrus script, also important to add launch options at Uplay launcher -eac_launcher -nosplash. Performance is roughly 30% less than windows, some heavy stuttering from time to time (didn't tried Vsync or tempering options yet) and I couldn't make the controller to work. But playing with keyboard mouse is ok with no more issues than the ones related before.
This was a pain in the ass to get going due to retarded uplay application. In the end it worked but made me remind this old meme https://i.imgur.com/x91i9m9.jpg
