Bye bye unnecessary launcher!
Download this file from here: https://www.speedrun.com/zombi/resources/v0r9t
Rename the file to the same as the old Uplay/Ubisoft Connect launcher, delete the original file in the game's folder, drag & drop the newly renamed one you downloaded, then launch the game. It will now start up like the Wii U/PS4 versions. No more ridiculous launcher ruining your Steam Deck experience!
Enjoy now being able to start the game without the middleman (Ubisoft's busted launcher)

After installing ubisoft connect as a launch fix using proton tricks it runs just as good if not better than windows
Watch this video to fix the uplay issues after that it works flawlessly https://youtu.be/FdfANCwUUJU?si=dyxQq_xHf3rkkFfu
First time launch of the game before applying the fix uplay will break the game
Game works flawless after fixing the intrusive ubisoft uplay issues
Steam installs an old version of the Ubisoft launcher (Uplay, thanks Ubisoft for the old touch). Personally, I had to download Ubisoft Connect and launch it in the prefix. It's quite simple, you put the Ubisoft Connect setup inside the prefix (most often, .local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/339230/pfx/drive_c) then just ask Protontricks to help you launch the explorer inside it and launch the setup like any Windows installer

Installed Ubisoft Connect
Ubisoft Connect
Game froze after initial part
I followed the user FreezFree guide on how to install Ubisoft Connect and run the game with it but after the initial part of the game, when you cross the door that shows the Zombi game logo on screen, game freezes on the black "Loading" screen and never gets past that. I'm using Custom GEProton8-6, tried Experimental and regular ones and none worked. Any ideas anyone?

Uplay Launcher has to be manually replaced with Ubisoft Connect
What I did to get the game to work...
- Install the game and start it once (fails at Uplay launcher)
- Switch to Desktop mode
- Add the .exe file of the game as non-steam game to your library
- Change the settings of the new library entry so it points to the Ubisoft Connect Installer that's already in the game directory (no idea why it isn't being used automatically)
- Start the game with the "Non-Steam"-Entry -> It should install the new launcher
- You could now change the entry back so it points to the game's .exe file again and play the game via the "Non-Steam"-Entry
- OPTIONAL: If you want to play with the actual game's Library entry...
- Move to the compatdata folder of the non-steam entry (/home/deck/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/Entry_ID) (Sort by "modified" to find the new folder)
- In there, copy the Ubisoft Connect Launcher (from inside of .../pfx/drive_c/Program Files) to the "Program Files" folder of the actual game's compatdata folder (ZOMBI game ID is 339230)
- Now you can delete the non-steam game entry from your library and ZOMBI should start with the Ubisoft Connect launcher
UPlay prevents start up
there might be a way to get it working, but launching the game will pop pop upa log in window for UPlay, which diesn't exist anymore. Works on Windows mit Ubisoft Connect. So it might be possible to get it to work on Linux. But I can't be bothered.

Had to import a new Ubisoft Launcher Folder for Ubisoft Connect instead of Uplay
It uses Uplay instead of Ubisoft Connect. Here is a Google Drive to the folder to replace the one it is installed with. https://shorturl.at/emQR9
The game works fine it just needs some tinkering.
With the newer proton version, the second level of the game has major framerate issues, It gets unplayable. Changeing to 4.2.9 solves this problem at least as far as I played the game. When you cahnge the proton version, you need to reinstall the game, because otherwise you get an error message, saying that there is no "Uplay" installed. After reinstalling, everything should work fine. Some audio is missing, but the overall experience is good enough to enjoy the game ...
Up to and including the area around the safe-house works great, but you can't progress any further than that area.
Some sound effects, like reloading weapons, seem to be missing.
The entire first area of the game is totally fine. Once you get the key card though and exit to the next area (markets I believe), the game begins to stutter and crashes at the loading screen. I've yet to get past this point.
- I've tried switching between fullscreen and windowed mode, did not fix the crash.
- I've tried reducing my refresh rate from 120 to 60, did not fix the crash.
- I've tried various different versions of Proton, including a "Glorious Eggroll" release, did not fix the crash.
- Sometimes the game stutters pretty hard when it first opens; alt+tabbing out and back in fixes it.
The game launches, looks and runs great, but you can't progress further than the area immediately around the safe house.
Some sound effects, like reloading a weapon, seem to be missing. Also, the opening little "demo" pre-recorded video sometimes doesn't have any audio, but sometimes it does.

You can only play the first area immediately around the safe house; it crashes at the loading screen when trying to enter the next area.

It works well with a few manipulations
If the game crash on the "How long will you survive" screen, you need to turn Ubisoft Connect in offline mode (There's exactly the same problem on Windows) And also, if you don't want to constantly put Ubisoft Connect in offline mode every time you start the game, you can go to Settings -> Network and check the box "Always start Ubisoft Connect in offline mode".

Closes on the screen after the Straight Right logo
Closes on the screen after the Straight Right logo before even getting to a menu. Trying different GPU driver versions (440, 450) didn't help. Using older versions of Proton resulted in an error that UPlay was not installed, which persisted even when returning to the latest version. Turning off Steam overlay didn't change anything.
la ventana de de inicio de sesión de ubisoft se cuelga siempre en el primer inicio
cada ves que cambia de mapa se cuelga.
This was a pain in the ass to get going due to retarded uplay application. In the end it worked but made me remind this old meme https://i.imgur.com/x91i9m9.jpg
Using Proton 5.0-5
only a tiny bit

Fails to start

Runs out of the box, as of this Proton version 4.2-1 both mouse and controller works fine. Boarderline platinum, rating silver only because the performance even when taking Proton overhead into consideration seems worse than expected, game runs at 30-60fps at 1080p on a Vega 56. Reducing the resolution to 720p the game runs at a solid 60fps.

Ran fine. No issues

Runs out of the box with performance between 30-60fps at 1080p. Worked fine with a Switch Pro Controller, but mouse controls are very erratic and directions get stuck when looking around. Rating Bronze because of broken mouse controls, but with a controller the game is Silver.

Nothing happens on launch, tried different Steam launch options and disabling overlays.
