Only minor problems! Overall, the game works fine!
Loading screen is bugged (Same with GE-Proton7-10)
The game has some minor hiccups when changing scenes
Both the native and Proton versions don't work!
I tried every Proton version from 4 to 7 and GE-Proton
Minimal crackling, which can be ignored
Gameplay and rendered cutscenes run great, but in-engine cutscenes are very stuttery
In-game videos do not work
The native version has a lot of artifacts in the image (Both Vulkan and OpenGL). With Proton 6.3-5 almost everything works OOB. Only the videos (for example in the skill menu, or in the background of the main menu) do not work.
Windows savegames were not transferred
I only tried the DirectX11 version.
No problems here...
Started the game, hooked up my controller, and played. Great experience!
The launcher can only be controlled with the touchpad
Rare crashes after switching to GE-Proton and back
With GE-Proton7-10 everything works fine. With Proton 7.0-1, some videos in the game don't seem to work. However, the game is still playable.
Works great!
- At first launch, just follow the instructions to install the dependencies.
- Turning on FidelityFX LPM left me with a black screen. So better not touch this option!
After switching from Windows to Linux:
- Savegames were synchronized
- Could play immediately without problems
Had a few crashes towards the end of chapter 3. Enabling VSync seems to have fixed the problem.
Apart from the mentioned crashes, a solid experience.
In the game's launcher, only the "Play" button worked (Touch). It doesn't seem possible to change the settings from there.
Apparently there are mods for better gamepad support. I would look for those if the normal support isn't enough.
The graphics preset should be set to ‘Medium’ for a good experience.
Uplay Launcher has to be manually replaced with Ubisoft Connect
What I did to get the game to work...
- Install the game and start it once (fails at Uplay launcher)
- Switch to Desktop mode
- Add the .exe file of the game as non-steam game to your library
- Change the settings of the new library entry so it points to the Ubisoft Connect Installer that's already in the game directory (no idea why it isn't being used automatically)
- Start the game with the "Non-Steam"-Entry -> It should install the new launcher
- You could now change the entry back so it points to the game's .exe file again and play the game via the "Non-Steam"-Entry
- OPTIONAL: If you want to play with the actual game's Library entry...
- Move to the compatdata folder of the non-steam entry (/home/deck/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/Entry_ID) (Sort by "modified" to find the new folder)
- In there, copy the Ubisoft Connect Launcher (from inside of .../pfx/drive_c/Program Files) to the "Program Files" folder of the actual game's compatdata folder (ZOMBI game ID is 339230)
- Now you can delete the non-steam game entry from your library and ZOMBI should start with the Ubisoft Connect launcher
