I have tried the default Proton version, Proton Experimental and Proton GE 7.37.
The audio works fine on my desktop running Debian Bookworm, but no matter what I try on the Deck whether it's docked, handheld, using a headset or not, the audio is completely absent.
The game runs perfectly fine on my desktop that is running Debian Bookworm with Gnome, but it has no audio on the Steam Deck.
Basically flawless, except it stutters pretty hard the first time you play until it builds up a shader cache.
The game runs basically flawlessly, except that like some other games, the first time you encounter any particular shader the game hiccups for a brief moment. That means that when you run the game for the first time, it's basically unplayable for a minute or so until you look around and it finishes compiling all the shaders in your immediate vicinity. Once it has done that though, it's good for as long as you leave the game installed.
Game is basically flawless
The game occasionally disconnects from the background online service, altering what resources and such are available to you. It will reconnect when you select that option in the menu though, so it's not a game breaking issue.
The game works for the most part, but if you can't run your own server with anti-cheat disabled, then you're not going to be able to play.
Running the game through Proton breaks EAC, which means you can't connect to any server that uses it, which is most of them. The best workaround for my friends and I was just to run our own server with EAC disabled.
The game runs great, but if you don't have the ability to run your own server with anti-cheat disabled, you won't be able to play.
Running the game on Linux with Proton breaks EAC, which means you cannot connect to any servers that have it enabled, which is most of them. The only solution I had for my wife and I was to run our own server with EAC disabled.
Works great, except the cutscenes don't seem to work.
Cutscenes don't play.
Game runs flawlessly, just alt+tab out and close the ESO launcher after the game is running.
It uses its own launcher to update and install the game, and that launcher window sometimes interferes with whether your mouse is captured by the actual game window. The solution is to wait until the game is running, alt+tab out, close the launcher window, then alt+tab back in. Other than the launcher feeling really sluggish and interfering with mouse capture, the game itself runs flawlessly.
You can only play the first area immediately around the safe house; it crashes at the loading screen when trying to enter the next area.
Some sound effects seem to be missing, like reloading weapons.
The entire first area of the game is totally fine. Once you get the key card though and exit to the next area (Market I believe), the game begins to stutter and crashes at the loading screen. I've yet to get past this point.
- I tried changing between fullscreen and windowed, did not fix the crash.
- I tried reducing my refresh rate from 120 to 60, did not fix the crash.
- I tried setting the embedded uPlay client to "offline mode", did not fix the crash.
- I tried various different versions of Proton including a "Glorious Eggroll" version, did not fix the crash.
- Sometimes the game stutters really bad when it first opens. Alt+tabbing out and back in fixes it.
The game launches, looks and runs great, but you can't progress further than the area immediately around the safe house.
Some sound effects, like reloading a weapon, seem to be missing. Also, the opening little "demo" pre-recorded video sometimes doesn't have any audio, but sometimes it does.
The game runs totally fine up to and in the area immediately around the safe-house. Once you get the key card though and attempt to enter the next area (markets I believe), the game begins to stutter and crashes at the loading screen.
- I've tried switching between fullscreen and windowed mode, did not fix the crash.
- I've tried reducing my refresh rate from 120 to 60, did not fix the crash.
- I've tried various different versions of Proton 6+, including a "Glorious Eggroll" release, did not fix the crash.
- Sometimes the game stutters pretty hard when it first opens; alt+tabbing out and back in fixes it.
Up to and including the area around the safe-house works great, but you can't progress any further than that area.
