The initial tutorial/first mission will not launch. It will either freeze on character selection or when loading the first mission depending on Proton version used. I was not able to use any of the command line options from PC reports to Mae it work. You will need to complete the first/tutorial mission on a Windows device, then the title will work on SteamOS going forward.
Text is very small. Magnifying doesn't always help.

Game will freeze at intial character selection
You have will have to use the launch options below to get past the freeze at the tutorial character selection: 'DXVK_ASYNC=1 PROTON_USE_WINED3D11=1 MANGOHUD=1 %command% -windowed w 1024'
The game will run like trash but once you complete the tutorial you can remove the launch options and it will run fine. Have done the same mission on all characters with no issues after the intial freeze.
freezes when you have to select a hero for the tutorial
Okay here me out i have been struggling to make work it so i went with this command line
'DXVK_ASYNC=1 PROTON_USE_WINED3D11=1 MANGOHUD=1 %command% -windowed w 1024'
phase 1 > the game will initiates you with a tutorial unfortunately once you try to select a character it freezes, so instead of selecting the character i went in the settings put to low the graphics (probably you don't need to but anyway) i put in windowed mode instead window borderless.
phase 2 > (play with steam overlay) click on play > tab steam overlay while it loads the tutorial > and it loaded
phase 3 > finish the tutorial then the game will run without freezes
phase 4 > remove PROTON_USE_WINED3D11=1 (you want to play with quality or with sadness)
conclusion > game runs fine just the tutorial where you have to select a character will freeze instantly you go with the default character in-game it runs without issues, when i went back in the hub after i've finished the tutorial i quit the game and relaunch it to see if it freezes or not and result you can hunt the bounties now

Game freezes as soon as interacting with the UI.
I'd tried several versions of proton, GE included, windowed... Also I own a steam deck and tried all there too.
Sometimes I could access the game options, or even press the play button, but eventually it freezes. Not working. On my system or on my steam deck.

Tried starting the game under Proton 7.0-1 and GE-Proton7-14. The -windowed settings took effect while using GE, but didn't seem to work under normal Proton. For instance, when using normal Proton and the -windowed flag (and later the w 1024 flags), my game still started fullscreen @ 1080p.
In all cases, the game would freeze after clicking the first button for character selection (something like "GOT IT"). I'm using the Pop!_OS tiling as well, so I tried this with tiling on and off. Game is currently unplayable for me.
Unable to start the game, it showed 'Running' at first then just crashed
I tried adding some launch options '-windowed -force-vulkan' but don't think that helped much.
It ran great.
Only the initial 2 splashscreen that shows nothing like the game but after continuing to the main menu it felt like i was playing on windows.
Freeze in main menu
tested in fullscreen and windowed mode. Fullscreen freezes as soon as I interact with the main menu, windowed allows me to start a game but freezes in the following loading screen.
Freezes on first button press
I see the character selection, but the game freezes as soon as I press a button to change or select a character. It's possible to go into the options and change resolution, though. But it's not possible to select a character or start playing.
I tried window mode, as suggested by other users, but it made no difference. Tried Proton 6.3-7, Experimental, Proton-GE-6.16 and Proton-GE-6.18, all with the same result. Older Proton version 4.11-13 gave me only a black screen.

Fullscreen would freeze after any sort of interaction
Used steam launch option -windowed. Then set resolution in game options to native resolution. This is not just a proton problem. Played on a windows box and the same freezing occurred. Same solution. Game played like native otherwise.
