Uplay Launcher (or whatever it is rebranded now) forces you to login with your username+password once. After that it continues to launch the game normally.
AC:Odysssey runs really great on Deck. The Deck even manages very high settings with relativly stable framerates. Played around 50h, mostly with Steam Dock on my TV, and I can remember only 2 crashes. But it's demanding on the battery (no wonder) and drains it in around an hour (imho no problem for me as I mostly play at home, have a dock or a 4m charging cable at hand).
The game does not terminate itself properly, but because of the generous auto save feature, you can just use the deck overlay and quit the game that way, which is even faster that going to the title screen and quit there.
Great game and really good technical experience with minor issues the first launch and quitting the game.
Had to login to ubisoft connect once, after that, the launcher saved my credentials and just launched the game.
Works well, ubisoft connect complicate things if you have a complex password.
Works well on Steam Deck, there are no issues making you think this game was not made for the Deck.
I had to do the EA app login in Desktop mode once, after that it's saved and does not show up for other EA games.
No issues at all. Maybe slightly worse FPS but no problem for playability at all.
With mentioned tweaks it runs as good as under W10.
No issues at all with the game itself. Cannot switch between applications (ALT+TAB) while running Domina (Gnome 3.30.2).
Completed the game without any graphical issues. Had 2 crashes within the 14 h of playtime. Totally acceptable
After every start heavy graphical glitches, enabling and disabling vsync fixes all issues until next game restart.
No Sound for the steam version, but on the other hand you are able to start the .exe with dosbox and sound :)
If you ever have played any other game with EA's App, the game starts and works perfectly fine, almost on Deck Verified level.
Directly on Steam Deck controlls no problem. Via Steam Dock + and wireless Switch Pro Controller, the controller is not recognized in the initial game selection menue. Emulating a mouse pointer to start on of the game works, and in a Mass effect game itself, the controller is working perfectly normal.
Some minor things like the EA app can be a bumper, but after logging in once, it does not bother you again, not even in any other EA game as it remembers the link between your steam account and your EA account. Great improvement!
Minor controller issues in the game selection screen are present, just like some other games with a "pre-launcher" have. Not perfect, but they are easy to overcome with the mouse pointer emulation.
All in all a recommendation, really enjoyable experience.
Starts but is not playable as it has below 5 FPS no matter the graphical settings.
First launch had not the right aspect ratio, but could be easily solved in the options
I experienced only 3 minor bugs. Glitched out of the level, muted sound for 20 seconds and one graphical error on one specific steam vent.
On Windows i would consider it normal, so i don't know if the bugs are Linux specific. No crashes at all.
Installs, runs and plays like a Windows game. No issues which worsens the game play experience
I might have some strange artifacts on golden reflecting surfaces from very flat angles, but I had to look for that and haven't noticed it for a long time. Could just be a normal error and doesn't need to be a specific Linux issue
Completed the whole game without any crash which is a lot better than back in the day i played it when it was released.
Sometimes i had graphical glitches during thunderstorms, which where gone after restarting the game or waiting the rain to stop. But still not as bad as i remember all the bugs when i played it under windows.
Having never logged in through EA app you have to do it one time and after that it does not ask you again to launch the game
The EA app is annoying, but having EA and Steam profile linked in any other game or platform avoids my only tinker issue. Otherwise I would not notice the game was not developed for the platform.
Runs great. Mouse flickers, but can be fixed by disabling hardware cursor.
Completed the game several times, played multiplayer and had zero issues.
Sometimes slight flickering of engine thrusters flames, sometimes face textures not loading. Exiting/entering areal fixes it. May not be linux specific.
Launch option fixes all audio errors: WINEDLLOVERRIDES="xaudio2_7=n,b" PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=90 %command%
With audio fix, the game runs perfect. Minor complaint: Bethesda creation club is not working. No thumbnails are displayed in creation club or mod section. BUT mods can be enabled and downloaded.
Played 70 hours + with surprisingly no crash.
The Game runs great except a minor sound error, which is easily fixed by copy&paste one line to the start options
WINEDLLOVERRIDES="xaudio2_7=n,b" PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=90 %command%
Language muted without configuration
I played around 500 h on Linux, so this game runs exceptional well after fixing the sound. Even the new Anniversary Upgrade makes no problems, everything runs very smooth and I had around 5 Crashed, which is totally normal for this kind of game. Previously the Creator and Mod Workshop didn't previous thumbnails, but are now shown at least after the Anniversary Upgrade.
No tweak works. Game launches and creates a process but no window opens. Steam says the game is running.
Uplay kills it. Cannot connect to any server in order to start the actual game :(
Crashes an boot if not started with bootoptions "PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%".
Works fine then.
Game crashes with Steam ingame overlay enabled. Game crashes after exiting.
Without disabled D3d11 no charaktermodels are loaded. After disabling it, Space Wolf runs as good as under Windows. Maybe slight lower FPS but not noticeable as it is a turn based game
