Game runs as native with just issues of lagging on the desktop enviroment!
Lags Desktop while playing
Runs very well i recommend playing on linux!
I got all the acheivements and had a wonderful time on my steamdeck. I really like this title and would highly recommend.

run net.lutris.Lutris lutris:rungameid/31
comments thread by me (sweeneytodd_), explains the process.
had to mess with dll's and libraries to get it too work initially. xact_x64 checked in dlls on winetricks turned out to work over adding xaudio2_7 in libraries as others mentioned. the intro helicopter audio was still bugged but all othe audio works flawlessly now thereafter.
initiallyhad infinite loading screen after main menu, added xaudio2_7 to libraries and it worked once, helicopter sequence played out, but bugged and got stuck in a cutscene/loading loop before gameplay transistion to mall roof. turns out these dll's were the tru fix

d3dcompiler_47
d3dx9
dxvk (the one that ONLY says dxvk, but another user has said it wasn't needed for him but it's inclusion won't hinder)
mfc110
xact_x64 (i still also have xaudio2_7 added to libraries, not necessary but its inclusion also won't hinder)
along with wine version: wine-ge-8-26-x86_64 (default)
game now runs flawlessly. DR2 & OTR don't work with similar fixes unfortunately
all necessary set up info already stated. runs flawlessly WITH many additional steps. upwards of 4hours gametime too on LCD deck with max settings and 8w tdp and 40fps, but rocks solid 60fps too.

Runs like a dream right out of the box. Perfect for the Deck.

The game works great and looks decent enough, but the gameplay did not stand the test of time and aged quite poorly
Theres a small amount of crackling when Frank is inside Paradise Plaza, everywhere else seems fine.

Works out of the box.
Managed to finally 100% the game, only issue I had was when alt-tabbing on full screen, but could get back to it if I alt-tabbed back enough times.
Works out of the box

60fps cap, 6W TDP limit, half-rate shading (optional)
Ran great with a 6W TDP limit using max settings. Constant 60, only dipped when 5+ zombies were bowled over at once - probably just the game figuring out the physics.
Sometimes a save file won't load as I've done some testing. However, saving in two slots can help fix this problem if it happens to you.
As you can expect from a 2006 game on my hardware it runs very well

Runs out of the box
WINEDLLOVERRIDES="xaudio2_7=n,b" %command%
enabled gyro for camera, set l5 as x and r4 as a and r 5 as b
about 3 hours and 30-40m est at 100%, plays great outta the box.
It runs smooth, 800p, all high and AA disabled. Around 15W~ of consume. It looks great, it plays great.
Runs great, no issues
Ran perfectly out of the box, no tweaking needed.

xact
: required to fix infinite loadscreens.
Does not restore video when switching focus/Alt-Tab'ing.
Besides throwing a hissy fit when focus is lost, game works perfectly throughout an entire 72 Hour/Overtime Mode playthrough.
As others have stated, game runs with no audio without launch flags - WINEDLLOVERRIDES=”xaudio2_7=n,b” %command%
Need to install xact first to fix the infinite loading screen bug. https://gist.github.com/coreybruce/88105c2c308368b865de0a43c5c0ce59
Pictures taken are not visible in the camera roll or on the loading screens.
Just used the setting provided in previous messages WINEDLLOVERRIDES="xaudio2_7=n,b" %command%
Played it all on Linux, works amazingly
Needs command entered into the Steam launch options for the game:
WINEDLLOVERRIDES="xaudio2_7=n,b" %command%
The above command allows cutscene audio to work and fixes the infinite load screen.
If you have dodgy performance, go to the games options menu and change framerate setting from "variable" to "60".
Xbox 360 controller is automatically detected.
The game works great after a small tweak outside of pictures taken not displaying in the picture viewer or loading screens.
Added WINEDLLOVERRIDES="xaudio2_7=n,b" %command% to launch options
Run with the following options set-
WINEDLLOVERRIDES="xaudio2_7=n,b" %command%

WINEDLLOVERRIDES="xaudio2_7=n,b" %command%
Pictures taken do not show in the menus
Needs to run 'winetricks xact' and add 'WINEDLLOVERRIDES="xaudio2_7=n,b" %command%' to the game's launch options
Using fixes below and running in full screen windowed the game runs perfectly
Immediately noticeable from title screen just restart until it stops it doesnt develop during gameplay.
WINEDLLOVERRIDES="xaudio2_7=n,b" %command%
Textures in photo viewer are missing which is very minor and doesn't really change gameplay experience.
works after installing winetricks, installing xact for the game and telling it's wine.cfg to use it (by "New override for library", add "xaudio2_6" and "xaudio2_7").
sudo apt-get install winetricks
WINEPREFIX=/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/427190/pfx/ winetricks xact
WINEPREFIX=/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/427190/pfx/ winecfg
crashes at cut scenes without "xact" (xaudio) installed
Pictures missing in "Photo Viewer" (in-game)

Installed it with a fresh prefix and installed xact with winetricks, game itself runs perfect now. Doesn't crash after 5 min like previously
winetricks xact
Picture Viewer doesn't work. But not a big deal if you played the game before.
See problem on github Dead Rising (427190)

Selecting New Game Will Make You Get Stuck on Infinite Loading Screen
On Linux
- Game Launches to Main Menu
- Selecting New Game Will Make You Get Stuck on Infinite Loading Screen
- Not Playable on Linux cause of loading screen
- Proton Version I use for testing Proton 4.11-7,Proton 4.11-8,Proton 4.11-9
- Modified Proton Version I use for testing Proton 4.15 GE-4

No audio, will lock at loading screen, and stuttering in the only area I can load, game will either crash if played too long or lock up if I try to exit area because of the loading screen issue.

Technically starts and runs, but it's totally broken. First time I booted the game, it crashed almost immediately at the Capcom logo. Second time I booted it, it started up properly, but my controller inputs were acting on their own, completely randomly. Then the game crashed after less than a minute.
