Sometimes a save file won't load as I've done some testing. However, saving in two slots can help fix this problem if it happens to you.
As you can expect from a 2006 game on my hardware it runs very well
You can't join modded servers without an external launcher
I recommend installing and using DZGUI to get modded servers up and running. When you get that installed you can play community servers and not just the official ones through the base Steam launcher one.
I did notice the game stutters far less on the Proton Linux version than the Windows native one.
Zero problems playing
Runs practically flawlessly
The cache on Linux is a little broken compared to when I played on Windows. The game might crash for some if you have a lot of mods on Linux, but this can be solved by lowering the Shader Quality to Medium or Low.
If you have a lot of bigger graphics ovehaul mods make sure to run the Shader Quality at Medium or Low as you might experience crashes.
I run the game at 4K with it capped at 60fps since the animations feel like they are tied to fps
