Game launches with a all red screen, game music plays so I am assuming the main menu did load fine. The game used to run fine with older version of MESA + Proton but with dynamic numerical values not showing correctly as mentioned in another report. Both MESA and AMDVLK have this issue, so it's a AMDGPU or WINE/Proton issue (maybe both).
With the latest version of Proton Uplay is fixed so the game launches. The intro videos play just fine and the game works up to the "Press a key to go to the main menu" prompt, when you press a key and it start to load the main menu that is when issues occur. When the main menu loads and it does it's online validation the game suddenly closes, I am suspecting this is caused by DRM which force closes the game once it realizes it's not running on Windows. Sometimes it does get past this point and loads in to the main menu before closing the game a few seconds later.
So basically; game runs fine, but DRM prevents you from playing it.
The game runs fine and without any issues once Uplay is set to start in offline mode. Proprietary DRM garbage closes the game once it makes a connection to the internet..
Games runs fine and without any issues. Sadly controller input doesn't seem to work although there are ways around it according to some users with Xinput which I haven't tried yet.
Game has no sound but this can be fixed by adding WINEDLLOVERRIDES="xaudio2_7=n,b" %command% to the Steam game launch options. The game also does not respond well to being ALT+TABed, it will become unresponsive to mouse input after it loses focus. Besides this the game runs solid and without any issues once the work-around is in place.
The audio lags regularly
Keyboard would often not be detected after launch. Repeatedly unfocusing/focusing the game will get it detected eventually but it can take 5+ tries.
The game stutters a lot but this gets less the longer you play a certain level/map.
Game runs with -noeac. Videos don't play but game is entirely playable. Of course multiplayer doesn't work with EAC disabled. Performance on MESA is great. If you are an AMDVLK user the game is also playable but the performance tanks when looking at planets which also don't render correctly.
Game runs without any issues, performance without D9VK is not all that great. After enabling D9VK the game runs well over 150fps most of the time.
Game runs fine and without any issues just like Road to Hill 30, I highly recommend you to increase the FOV to make the game more playable on modern machines. Check for a guide online, user game config is located in steamapps/compatdata/19800/drive_c/users/steamuser/applicationdata/Gearbox software.
The game runs flawless and without any issues. i highly recommend increasing the FOV via the game's config files to make the game more playable on modern wide and ultra wide screens (Check for a guide online, user game config is located in steamapps/compatdata/15190/drive_c/users/steamuser/applicationdata/Gearbox software).
Game runs fine and without any issues. Performance is great. Only tested the single player campaign which I completely while running the game under Proton.
The games runs solid and without any gameplay affecting issues.
I experienced minor barely noticable audio crackling during my initial long (1-2 hours) play session
After launch the game will show a black screen, I am guessing it's an issue with the intro video. Hit ESC or SPACE to enter the main menu.
I recommend running the game with D9VK for improved performance.
Video cutscenes don't play. Game runs completely fine besides that. Performance is great.
Game is 30fps locked due to it's engine and it runs 30fps solid, so performance is fine, also no issues with stability to report
Game runs great as long as Esync is disabled and the audio quality in-game is set to LOW. Setting the audio to medium or high will cause looping/glitching audio and instability (crashes).
The game used to run (Although unstable requiring tweaks) and I put tons of hours in to the multiplayer, but it does no longer. It refuses to starting giving a "Cannot find supported hardware rendering device" error. Most likely a GPU driver issue.
In it's current state the game is not playable at least on my system.
The game runs absolutely unplayable, it runs at ~1fps
The game appears to be fully playable besides the fact that the cutscenes do not work.
Video cutscenes do not play, skip them with ESC
The game itself runs perfect, however videos will not play because they are stored in the proprietary MP4 format. This game performs significantly better with the CPU set to performance mode (Use Feral Gamemode for this or Google how to do it on the command line).
The Ubisoft launcher was stuck at "initializing". This issue can be fixed with sudo sysctl -w net.ipv4.tcp_mtu_probing=1
.
Game crashes on start giving a "createDXGIFactory: FAILED" error unless it's run with "PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%". With WINED3D WINE crashes when launching a mission but the main menu works fine although the performance in the main menu isn't all that great.
The game runs without any tweaks. Performance is great. Scripted story voice lines don't play, you just hear the radio static sound followed by silence. Other voice audio such as the combat chatters works just fine.
Game launch shows without any styling, just a white window with hyperlinks. When attempting to start the game through the launcher it will crash nearly instantly.
The game runs fine and without any issues. Performance and stability has significantly improved over older proton versions.
The game in its current state on my hardware runs mostly stable but the graphical issues can cause some hinderance.
Game seems to be overly agressively culling items while still in the viewport, causing objects to dissapear when viewed at certain angles.
Experienced very minor but not gameplay affecting stutter in more demanding scenes
I experienced a single crash during a cutscene after 6 hours of gameplay
Once the shader cache is filled the game runs flawless and without any issues.
Once the audio issues are fixed with a startup command the game appears to be running fine
The in-game audio was crackling, I fixed it with PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=60 %command%
After copying the .dll files as suggested below the game runs and it runs great. I am getting around 30-40 fps at 1440p ultra wide on my Vega 64. The game does crash every now and then and can cause GPU locks, these crashes and GPU locks however are the fault of the game and the open source AMDGPU/MESA drivers.
The game runs after renaming mafia3.exe to launcher.exe. I have to play the game in windowed mode or it will freeze in the main menu or when a video cutscene starts playing. Performance wise the games runs quite horrible on the 390x, 25-30fps usually at 1440p high settings, tweaking settings makes little difference. The game has a few serious bugs, the most common one is that it has "lag spots". There are a few small areas in the game, always in buildings, if you stand in these areas the game will lag out and run at 1-3fps, you will often then also see a small rope-like graphical artifact somewhere nearby. If you leave the lag spot the lagging stops, if you go back in the lag spot for a second time the game will freeze. So you have to actively avoid these spots.
Besides some minor fullscreen issues the game is fully playable and it runs great.
Fullscreen works, however when ALT+TABing the game window would shift or disappear.
6.8-GE-2 GloriousEggroll
The game is fully playable with the latest version of Proton-GE
The game doesn't appear until it is done playing the 5 minute long intro video, you can hear the video but no game window will appear until it's done playing. Characters and enemies don't render properly, they are completely black unless performing certain actions. This is a small improvement over older version of Proton (3.7-8) where besides the characters props wouldn't render properly either showing as black or invisible.
I played the game through Proton to get better performance and proper graphics settings. The game runs fine mostly, however it's not 100% stable and does lock up on loading screens.
I played the game through Proton to get better performance and proper graphics settings. The game runs fine mostly, however it's not 100% stable and does sometimes crash or lock up on loading screens.
The game runs with the latest Proton version. It did not detect my monitor's resolution correctly instead setting some weird 1264x634 resolution, I edited the game's config file (render.cfg) in "steamapps/compatdata/356190/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/Local Settings/Application Data/WB Games/Shadow of War" to get around this issue. The performance is not great, especially at higher resolutions.
The game runs mostly flawless. I get around 50-60fps at 1440p ultra wide, high-ultra settings on my Vega 64. I experienced a crash giving me a "Can not read from MEM_ADDRESS" error but I am unsure if these are Proton or game related issues.
Initially the game will run like absolute garbage, but once the cache has filled it runs great. I have to play on every single map for about 10 minutes before it becomes playable.
The game runs without any gameplay affecting issues and it runs solid performance wise.
Rumble will not work on the controller until the option has been disabled/enabled in the game settings.
With Proton 5.13-1 the game itself starts, however I am unable to actually get ingame.
The game will launch but is unable to connect to Rockstar Social Club, it will provide me with random error codes and give me the option to either view the Rockstar support page or quit the game.
- I tried checking the game files, nuking the WINE prefix and various versions of Proton/ProtonGE all of which gave me the same result.
The game runs solid and without any issues. Performance wise I get a solid 100-200fps most of the time at 1440p ultra wide all settings maxed.
Once the shader cache has filled which can take about 5-10 minutes per level the game runs flawless and without any issues. The performance is great, I was running the game at 60fps solid in 1440p ultra wide high-ultra settings.
Game runs great, multiplayer works, minor non-game related crash
Crash on opening the Steam overlay
The game runs really well and is fully playable. The minor issues of the videos not playing does not affect the playability of the game.
Videos do not play, this is fixable as suggested by other compatibility reports I have not tried this however.
Runs solid once Esync is disabled. With Esync enabled the game lags and stutters all over the place while managing to pump out a massive 1fps every 10 seconds.
With Proton 5.13-1 the game itself runs perfectly playable. The game has some stability issues but they are also present on Windows.
Sometimes on launch the game will not respond to mouse input, restart the game when it does this.
Upon entering a loading screen the game will throw a shader compilation error, the game will not proceed until the error is closed, upon closing this error the game will continue to run abolutely fine
With the latest version of Proton Uplay is fixed and the game runs flawless without any tweaks.
6.14-GE-2 GloriousEggroll
Proton-6.14-GE-2
Game doesn't launch unless it's cracked. Once cracked it runs like native. DRM garbage..
