Starts good (singleplay)
Played with Proton 9.0-4.

PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 PROTON_NO_FSYNC=1 %command% /fullscreen 3440 1440
with those starting options, not able to set better graphics
once tabbed out not propper fullscreen (screen is cut off)

/fullscreen 1920 1080
Works out of the box. One needs to add /fullscreen and the resolution of their screen, however this is not a linux issue, the game behaved the same on windows, where also /fullscreen was needed. Runs perfectly smooth on linux, compared to windows where the game was lagging like crazy. Here on linux is just perfetto

PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 PROTON_NO_FSYNC=1 %command% /fullscreen 1920 1080
The game did not run on proton, so i switched to ge-proton and it started working flawlessly
PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 PROTON_NO_FSYNC=1 %command% /fullscreen 2560 1440
Extending the game interface over two displays is not working for me
PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 PROTON_NO_FSYNC=1 %command% /fullscreen 1920 1080

switching to earlier verson on proton worked
At first the game only showed black. Tried the launch optionsand the game started for a few seconds before crashing. Switching to earlier version of proton worked to boot it, probably to play it. But I couldn't get the co-op mod to play so we gave up. https://www.nexusmods.com/supremecommander2/mods/1?tab=bugs
PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 PROTON_NO_FSYNC=1 %command% /fullscreen 1680 1050
I can play for sometime but the game always crash, log message: vkd3d:0128:err:vkd3d_realloc Out of memory, size 16384. vkd3d:0128:err:vkd3d_string_buffer_resize Failed to grow buffer. vkd3d:0128:fixme:hlsl_yylex Unsupported preprocessor #pragma directive at line 13. 832.911:0124:0128:err:d3dcompiler:D3DCompile2 Failed to compile shader, vkd3d result -4. 832.911:0124:0128:err:d3dcompiler:D3DCompile2 Shader log: 832.911:0124:0128:err:d3dcompiler:D3DCompile2 :236:16: E5005: Function "tex2Dproj" is not defined. 832.911:0124:0128:err:d3dcompiler:D3DCompile2 832.911:0124:0128:fixme:d3dcompiler:D3DCompile2 Ignoring flags 0x8000. 832.919:0124:0128:err:virtual:allocate_virtual_memory out of memory for allocation, base (nil) size 003f4000

PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 PROTON_NO_FSYNC=1 %command% /fullscreen 1920 1080
Launch options with Experimental are needed - Native did not work at all.

PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 PROTON_NO_FSYNC=1 %command% /fullscreen 3840 2160
Without the startup options the game loads up to a blank screen - with them 4k gaming is excellent

Used to play this game on my old desktop running Windows 10. My OMEN came with the horrid VISTA 2.0 (Win 11). Installed Pop! OS 22.04 LTS
Happy that I can run this great game on a Linux distro with a simple adjustment.

Game starts, screen goes black and audio plays but screen stays black except mouse pointer
It seems the game is running fine but nothing is displayed, if I move the mouse I can hear it reacting to being over the menu buttons and I can click them but I can't see anything, tried launching the game in safe mode and a few different proton versions but same issue. It used to work fine but I updated my nvidia-dkms drivers and now I get this.
Using newer kernel than 5.15.0-56 there is an arrow mouse flickering.
Up to kernel 5.15.0-56 everything run perfectly. With newer kernels there is a noticable arrow mouse flickering
There is a knon fix for mouse flickering (open game console and type "d3d_WindowsCursor"), but I haven't found a way to open game console...
reboot required after (failed) launch to be able to return to the game library
Works great with default settings

I suggest using a community layout as this game doesn't support controller despite having an Xbox 360 version of the game.
Lowered TDP to 6 watts.
Game runs excellent, should be marked as playable.
Game can tend to stutter a little here and then but does not effect overall gameplay
Multiplayer works with any flaws
The game has also been run on the lastest/experimental versions of proton and runs without fail
If you go through the campaign, that's enough. MP has not tested.
Manually, you have to change the resolution and screen mode through the startup parameters.
The second screen is not supported; the latest versions of Proton, if there is a second screen, the cursor can go to it.
Proton reacts to different people in its own way. If there is a second monitor, the mouse cursor can go behind the screen on the last Proton. A manual in Russian with some technical parts has also been made. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2663883332
P.s. Revamp Mod Manager does not work, you will have to manually get the mods and install them in the gamedata folder.

On my machine Composite Extension needed to be enabled in X11 for the game to start properly
For play in window 1280x800 use params PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command% /size 1280 800
, for fullscreen 1280x800 replace /size
by /fullscreen
.
Played with Proton 6.3-8 and params PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command% /size 1280 800
The game works just fine just add to the launch option ( PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 PROTON_NO_FSYNC=1 %command% /fullscreen 1920 1080 )
I had to put PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 PROTON_NO_FSYNC=1 %command% /fullscreen 1920 1080 to start the game
since i have not clue how to disable Esync and Fsync i just used proton 3.7-8 and everything worked fine

%command% /fullscreen 2560 1440
Got it running with PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 PROTON_NO_FSYNC=1 %command% /fullscreen 2560 1440
Need to set resolution via launch command in steam or you get a grey box, other than that works great.
PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 PROTON_NO_FSYNC=1 %command% /fullscreen 2560 1440
Proton Experimental

Works flawlessly when you add PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 PROTON_NO_FSYNC=1 %command% /fullscreen 1920 1080 to the launch options

With Steam's Proton Experimental channel this would launch, audio would play, but only a grey box would be rendered. Had to switch to 3.16-9 to get it to work, but then it worked flawlessly.

It kinda works
Using Proton 3.16-9 I was sometimes able to get it "running" but it would not fully open up the application and would crash a few seconds later.
Works out of the box
Do not use any of the newest three proton versions. proton 3.7.8 worked best for me
Installs, but does not launch(
Game ran great out of the box!
Game runs perfectly on Proton 3.16-9

Game runs well but may have its hiccups (usually only when first opening game). Otherwise, all functionality works perfectly well.
Game would sometimes fail to load (at the company logos intros) and would require TTY mode to manually kill process. Sometimes, after extended gameplay, the game will stop responding and process must manually be killed. This isn't frequent but does happen. After re-launching game it will run smoothly and without issue.
