-NoEAC
Adding the -NoEAC launcher option stopped the crashes I was experiencing in the campaign map. No further issues with videos, tactical game, or strategic map.
-noEAC
Crashes in campaign map seemingly at random

It works, but not having cutscenes is a bummer. They convey a lot of the story. If you're here for gameplay only, then go for it.
PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=50 OPENSSL_ia32cap=~0x20000000 %command% -noEAC
Crackling in the main menu. Fixed by adding PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=50
When cutscenes work (they mostly do not) there are some issues with shaders. Minor artifacts.

I just enabled compatibility, installed, and then played the game. Multiplayer doesn't work.

Game saving may fail
NO EAC support

NO EAC support

Only on some cinematics, in game it was fine
The launch option posted by several others didn't work for me, in the end setting it to 7.0-6, restarting the computer (to clear any zombie apps) worked very nicely.
"-noEAC"

Doesn't Launch
OPENSSL_ia32cap=~0x20000000 %command% -noEAC
On trying to launch for first time, gets stuck on running UE4 install script. On closing and restarting Steam, game will not start: appears as "running" according to Steam, but neither window nor game process start. Strangely, it changes Steam's icon in System Monitor to that of the game. Tried with and without launch options.
Videos didn't show properly.
-noEAC
The deck have trouble hit 40 fps so :
- low settings
- 30 fps cap
- TDP to 9
It's small but readable
OPENSSL_ia32cap=~0x20000000 %command% -noEAC
First Cutscene out of synch, runs smoothly afterwards
With Proton-7.0rc3-GE-1 it runs really well and all Cutscenes are viewable. Sometimes Audio is a bit out of sync.
Insert "OPENSSL_ia32cap=~0x20000000 %command% -noEAC" in Steam Launch to disable Easy Anti Cheat, which doesnt work anyway
Have not tried Multiplayer but without EAC it probably istn even possible
Thanks to "Boopity" and "Dennis" for finding these fixes

-noEAC
On a few occassions the mouse would stop responding in game. Alt+Tabbing out and back in fixed the issue for me immediately though.
The game would crash for me during movies / cutscenes unless I launched the game with the -noEAC flag.
EAC for Linux isn't enabled for this title and so you must use the -noEAC flag to boot them game and you will be unable to play online multiplayer.

OPENSSL_ia32cap=~0x20000000 %command% -noEAC
This game was crashing (just closing without error message to desktop) within 30 seconds of starting a campaign. This is apparently due to a bug with 10th, 11th and 12th gen intel CPUs. To fix this, I added
"OPENSSL_ia32cap=~0x20000000 %command%"
to launch options. Very importantly, I had to add it before "-noEAC", which I didn't realise at first, causing lots of frustration. Full launch options should read:
"OPENSSL_ia32cap=~0x20000000 %command% -noEAC"
Worked fine after that. Fun game!

7.0rc3-GE-1 GloriousEggroll
With the listed Proton GE release and setting the -noEAC launch flag option, the single player campaign works without any gameplay issues. The only remaining bug I notices was cutscenes, which sometimes (but not always) have the audio playing before the video starts (resulting in the whole cutscene video playing off-sync).

7.0rc3-GE-1 GloriousEggroll
When on the single player campaign map, the game forces itself back to the main menu without warning. Unlike in my previous report, this is no longer a softlock of the game: with an immediate quicksave after each campaign battle, it's now possible, if frustrating, to progress in the single player campaign.
Single Player battles work fine and seem to be completely stable. Only the campaign map has issues.

7.0rc2-GE-1 GloriousEggroll
https://github.com/GloriousEggroll/proton-ge-custom/releases/tag/7.0rc2-GE-1
Small hiccups at times.
One crash while making custom fleet.
Runs well with the latest GE. Did not need to install MF. Proton Experimental did not support in-game videos.
(Reported experimental version: Experimental (2021-11-23))
No EAC support means Co-op is disabled.
Multiplayer is broken due to EAC.
-noEAC
can be added to launch option to disable the EAC error popup.
Cutscenes will display nothing unless mf-install is used on the prefix.
Currently, if your CPU has 8 or more cores, you need to restrict the game to less than that.
For example by adding
taskset -c 0-15 %command%
to your launch options, else mf-install is non functional.
Proton-6.15-GE-2
Constant softcrashes (forced return to main menu) from map mode and battle customization screen

6.5-GE-2 GloriousEggroll
Cutscenes do not play and the game appears to hang after starting a campaign, but skipping the cutscene by holding spacebar actually continues on to the initial mission of the campaign.
And then the game consistently softlocks after spending a few minutes on the campaign map after completing the initial battle, as the UI becomes unresponsive. Might be some kind of menu layering issue that causes the issue, but it makes the game effectively unplayable in single player mode.

The game loaded the splash screen, went fullscreen and hung. Went no further than a black screen.
With latest proton or with latest GE, with or without -noeac, made no difference. Had to alt-tab out and kill it.
plays only offline due antichit not working
does not work
Latest proton 5.1.13 starts game but eac reports cannot connect and goes offline mode

5.6-GE-2 GloriousEggroll
Trying to play co-op campaign now in linux forces a crash due to latest update forcing eac at all times even with -noeac flag on launch

Doesn't start
Game doesn't start, even with "-noeac" flag.

Crashes on startup
I installed the latest release from https://github.com/GloriousEggroll/proton-ge-custom/releases (Proton-5.9-GE-3-ST) and used the -noeac launch option as others suggested. The game doesn't run for me. When I click Play in Steam, I get a small logo window for a couple of seconds and then it goes away and the program halts.

Proton -5.6-GE-2 GloriousEggroll
https://github.com/z0z0z/mf-install - this fixes the sound issues I experienced in previous reports.
Fixed by installing https://github.com/z0z0z/mf-install
Missing textures in in-game cinematics, occasionally. Occasionally will show a black screen instead of a mission introduction video

Proton-5.6-GE-2 GloriousEggroll
Launch options set to -noeac as suggested in previous posts
Main menu had a loud buzzing distortion in the right headphone, which seemed to go away after changing audio settings to 0% and back.
Incredibly loud distortion/roaring sound in cutscenes

5.6-GE-2 GloriousEggroll
game launch option: -noeac
only necessary if you want to play custom matches but I recommend using it anyway(if you want to make custom matches you don't need to restart the game and set this as a launch option since you are already using it)
Only in the Main Menu or during video sequences
I tried several Proton versions such as 5.0-9, 5.9-GE-2-MF, 5.11-GE-1-MF but it only worked with 5.6-GE-2 so make sure that you also try it with some of the 5.6-GE versions
Requires -noeac launch option and Proton-5.6-GE-1(from https://github.com/GloriousEggroll/proton-ge-custom/releases), multiplayer not working, Singleplayer working.
Requires -noeac launch option to start game, movies do not work currently due lacking wmv support in proton, with mfplat work around movies work

Doesn't boot into any game. Can't play with my friend.

Tried running the game through Proton 4.11-2, as the game was free to play this weekend. The game started (no intro or cinematics however) and loaded the main screen. I was able to enter the options menu, load menu and such. However, when selecting the "new campaign" or "battle" option, it freezes on the selection screen and jumps back to the main screen. So the game itself is, as of this moment, unplayable.
And yes, I tried entering different video settings in the menu. But that didn't work, and I do not believe it is actually a video issue with my current setup being what it is.

See older reports. Nothing's changed.

Game runs with -noeac. Videos don't play but game is entirely playable. Of course multiplayer doesn't work with EAC disabled. Performance on MESA is great. If you are an AMDVLK user the game is also playable but the performance tanks when looking at planets which also don't render correctly.

Game launches into the main menu, but without adding '-noeac' to the launch options it just goes back to the main menu after a second or two. '-noeac' disables Easy Anti-Cheat so multiplayer is disabled, leaving only campaign. I haven't tried coop yet.
Videos don't work but I can skip them with space bar. Also, when I quit the game the process doesn't stop properly so I have to manually kill it to be able to start the game again.
Performance is pretty good. It ran very stably at just above 60fps all the time on Epic graphics settings while playing. Even during in-game cutscenes with more things on the screen than while playing regularly the fps only intermittently dropped to about 55 fps. There's no video or audio artifacts and no noticeable input lag.

same problems as described, videos are not played, you get kicked back to the main menu after a second root cause is easyanticheat campaign & battle can be started: add "-noeac" to launcher, for campaign -> new campaign -> click does not work, but holding spacebar does for skipping the broken videos and starting the campaign as well doing this disables online play

Game starts and you are able to navigate the main menu. However once you click "New game" it will show the campaign screen for 1 second before throwing you back to the main menu.
Videos (Cutscenes etc..) don't work due to the .wmv file issue.

Game loads to main menu. Settings work, but playing a campaign doesn't as it doesn't load. Multiplayer against AI kicks you back to main menu as does trying to connect to a player.
