Gets to main menu but cannot create or load a save game.
Enable Wine D9VK with PROTON_USE_D9VK=1 %command% in the game's launch option and it will work.
Works out of the box now that D9VK is enabled by default
If the game gives an error at startup delete graphic.cfg in the game's folder, on a 1080p monitor don't select 960p or 1200p resolutions (this is a game bug and affects the windows version as well).
Either use PROTON_USE_WINED3D as a launch option or roll back to and older Proton version, 4.11 or 4.2 worked for me.
Install with "protontricks 210870 dotnet40 xna40". No audio but game is perfectly playable.
Native version does not run well
Native version did not get past main menu with distorted graphics with mesa 18.2.x. With mesa 19.3.3 the problem is gone but performance isn't great. Recommended to force Proton as the compatibility tool as it runs much better (60+ fps vs 100+ fps).
Uninstall wine-mono from the game's prefix if Steam downloaded them on launch. Then run "protontricks 312530 dotnet40 dinput".
Runs fine with some performance drops and no ending cutscene/audio
Reactor 'boss' voice lines by other characters were noticably lower in volume
Cybervoid performance was 20-40 fps
Regular game ran fine; 90+ fps but cybervoid segments had low framerate and you would have to decrease the render scale to almost 50% to get 60 fps, lowering other settings didn't help much in those parts. Ending cutscene is a white screen with subtitles.
Runs much better than native version out of the box, D9VK runs even better but has problems displaying certain parts of shadows.
Proton it will work out of the box but for Wine you need to install vcrun2010 via winetricks
Could not sign into Xbox Live
Tried regular Master Chief Collection and 'Anti-Cheat disabled' version
Lag in some areas and alt-tabbing out of fullscreen only shows the top left corner of the game until you go back to fullscreen. Battles and everything else play fine.
Delete /path/to/insurgency2/bin/libgcc_s.so.1 and the game will run, use Steam Linux Runtime as compatibility tool if game still fails to launch.
Runs better than native version
Windows and Linux versions have different save file locations; unable to locate to see if they are compatible.
Linux version had graphical errors on mouse cursor and felt stutter-y, Proton version feels and plays much better.
launch options
plasma panel was occasionally flickering through game
Fix audio with PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=30
, Xbox 360 and DS4 controllers did not work, if you can deal with playing with keyboard then game is playable.
Fullscreen has graphical issues outside the 4:3 aspect ratio and Steam's framerate counter is shown twice. Runs perfectly otherwise.
If your system does not support Vulkan use PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command% as a launch option, or set it globally in ~/.steam/steam/steamapps/common/Proton 4.11/user_settings.py for convenience.
Native version doesn't work, force Steam Play under Properties General Tab. Both Software and DirectX run perfectly.
Runs out of the box, hopefully performance is a problem with the game that'll be patched and not a Proton problem .
Stuttering and big framerate drops in some areas. There's shader cache that needs to be built up but there were other performance drops down to 50fps and some cutscene transitions ended abruptly.
Did not try signing into Xbox Live.
Works out of the box but the frequent pause menu kills the enjoyment.
Artifacting along the left and right pillar boxes of the screen
Windowed was still fullscreened and the same artifacts were along the edges as well.
Game frequently opens pause menu
Play with keyboard, not controller.
Artifacting along sides of screen
When a controller is plugged in the game will constantly pause itself.
Perfectly playable as long as no controllers are connected. Graphical artifacts are annoying along sides of the screen but do not get in the way of gameplay.
Set controls in launcher first and does not work with "Full screen mode 640*480". Otherwise runs perfectly.
gamemoderun %command%
Runs beautifully but if you have an AMD GPU, you need to be running the latest mesa-git package from the AUR. If you update your mesa package, vulkan version or kernel you will have to regenerate the pre-compiled shader cache at the begging oon the games launch by deleting ~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/1649240/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/Local/Returnal/Steam/Saved/D3DDriverByteCodeBlob_V4098_D29631_S0_R0.ushaderprecache. I just put gamemoderun %command% out of habit, the game doesn't really need it.
If you're using a monitor with more than 60Hz, install libstrangle and in launch options use without quotations 'strangle 60 %command%'
protontricks d3dcompiler_43 d3dx9_43
Could not make game run windowed because setup does not launch
Only works in 32 bit prefix with wmp9 installed
Crackling/static
Fullscreen crashes game, unable to find option in settings to disable it so you will have to remove and reinstall this prefix if you enter fullscreen
Scene selection crashes game
Fullscreen does not work, perfectly playable otherwise.
Fullscreen is only maximized Windows, does not work on support beta update.
Native, but be sure to stick with either native or Proton due to saves
Saves not compatible between Linux and Windows versions
Proton-5.21-GE-1
Frequent texture pop-in during regular Proton
Regular Proton only detected mouse buttons during gameplay, mouselook and keyboard were not responsive.
Proton-GE allows you to play the game, but you get kicked when trying to pick up/use an item. Regular Proton game is unplayable due to keyboard not working in-game.
Works perfectly after changing resolution.
Black bars on either right or bottom half of screen when resolution is 720p with clr update. Changing resolution to 1080p fixes this.
Runs perfectly but alt-tab during a match crashes the game, during menus is fine. Online works as well.
black screen
only applied to native version
Neither version worked, did not try running with Proton-GE or Steam Linux Runtime.
Videos don't work, you can cancel them to get past and the game plays perfectly.
Animated cutscenes do not play but ca be skipped or toggled off in settings, in Ys II parts of the HUDs text in Chronicles mode turns white when the screen fades to black before or after an in-game cutscene. Game plays perfectly fine.
Does not start, error "Isha: D3DERR_INVALIDCALL(8876086ch) ->data\vs_dx9\b__d.vso d3d_shader.cpp(789)"
