Public Beta is required if you want to play the Native Linux version; the normal release is unplayable due to the lighting.
When not using the public beta branch; lighting was horrid and the flashlight would not work at all.
Some sections would tank in framerate; suddenly going form 150+ fps down to 30-40.
Proton did fix most bugs; but the performance was worse across the board. I'd recommend just sticking to the Native version with public-beta branch for the best performance.
Works fantastic! Zombies was perfect.
Lower frame rate than on Windows, but not a huge hit to feel gross to play.
I only played Zombies, custom maps and normal maps all worked fantastic.
--launcher-skip
OTB set up was just as easy as it was on Windows; other than you won't have ray tracing and a slight performance hit (at least for me) if you don't use GE Proton over the Valve one.

Without FFXVIFix the game seems to have very poor frame stuttering; the patch fixes it.
I'd heavily recommend to use the patch to get a more stable frametime.
Worked perfectly for a long 3 hour play session, no lag or jank (that isn't part of ALVR)
Game runs like better at maximum settings on my computer; around 80fps when heavy particle effects and 100+ normally! However since this supports FSR 3, I can easily get above 200 FPS with the Native AA enabled; heavily recommended to use FSR 3.
The game defaults to English voice lines no matter what VA option you selected for non cutscene dialog; unsure if it's a Linux issue or a gamewide issue; but I'd recommend English for now to not break the immersion.
I'm only 1.3 hours in and it's performing very well so far; nothing to complain about so far! RGG has kept up with their recent releases being Steam Deck verfied and perfectly working on Linux!
The bug relating to English voice lines staying even if you use Chinese or Japanese is still present; but as said by Ya like VR abs?, changing the langauge from Japanese to English and then back to Japanese fixes the issue entirely.
FS3 Frame Generation really messes up the frametime; I do recommend leaving Native AA on, but disable the FG to not get a messy stuttery mess.
After 15 hours in I thought I'd update this to improve on what I said before; OTB is perfect; other than the FS3 FG is basically broken ATM, I can comfortable play this at Highest + FSR 3 Native AA at 80+ fps outside of battle comfortably. Experimental and Proton-GE have the same performance so feel free to use what you perfer.
Performance isn't up to snuff for me; but a casual gamer probably wouldn't have a problem.

Force Half Rate Shading makes the overall image fuzzy.
Game on Default settings struggled to stay above 30FPS (64 Gig LCD Model fyi); not really an enjoyable experince for me; but isn't game breaking due to it being an JRPG. FSR 3 FG is broken; avoid because its a stuttery mess.
The inconsistent frame rate made it hard to switch between the smooth experince on my PC to my SD; but if you have no other option is still is very playable if you want to knock the settings further down from the default.
No matter what settings I changed, I could never go above 60fps, unsure if I missed any launch commands I needed to use.
A blast with friends, I didn't test any controllers so I can't say if they work well with the game at all.

A blast with friends, I didn't test any controllers so I can't say if they work well with the game at all. The Launch command WINEDLLOVERRIDES="dxgi=b" was able to get me above 60fps, without it, it'd stay locked, no matter what settings I changed.
Run *soo* much better than the beta did. It seems Capcom wanted to make sure this game works on Linux OOTB :3
When using FSR during cutscenes; there is some weird artifacting in the corners of the screen; nothing game ruining but noticeable.
If you use GE-Proton9-24 or newer, you can transfer save data rewards from World to get rewards!
Fantastic game, but if you're not a MH Fan or willing to put up with performance issues, stay away or play on console.
When going to the lower floors of the Basin during Inclemency it would tank my frame rate to a locked 30fps and it wouldn't recover until I rebooted the game, the Basin as of 3/8/25 is a really poor performing area, but it could be alright for you. Just proceed with cation when entering during this time.
When not using Proton Hotfix I'd have whole DE crashes within 5 minutes or it could take hours, switching to hotfix and getting the newest VKD3D has seemingly sloved these issues since it's been a couple days without a single DE crash. Installing Mesa-git also seemed to help framerate improve.
When changing settings that aren't changing upscaling/frame gen the frame rate would get all wonky and would fix after a reboot.
It's impressive that it works as "well" as it did Day 1 till now since some AAA games won't work till days later from launch, but the game still really needs alot of performance updates, the same thing happened with Monster Hunter World and Dragons Dogma 2; sucks we have to wait for them, but still a really really fun game.
TU1 fixed some performance; much more enjoyable but work can still be done. But can recommend now.
Hard frame drops in the Basin still; TU1 fixed alot of performance issues I had on my 6700XT with FSR; I can run Native AA and get a pretty respectable framerate; in the new Hub I can get easily 100+; some other areas will stay above 80.
With TU1 they also updated the DirectStorageDLL; make sure to downgrade the DLL or use Hotfix; both work just fine to get into the game.
DX11 has some microstutters that makes the game quite a headache to look at; DX12 fixes all of these issues however.
Even with the High Quality Textures installed it runs amazing, even slightly better than my Windows installation, about a 15~ fps boost.
40FPS cap
Text is a bit small due to the small resolution, FSR upscaling made it alot more readable.
Your deck will run HOT playing this game depending on what settings you use; I wouldn't recommend turning down the TDP or GPU Clock speed at all due to the performance hit you will get.
Was inconsistent at times; but a simple reboot of the PC fixed a huge lag issue.
Game has some frame drops from time to time but I'm willing to give it a pass since it's a Day 1 Early Access and the gameplay is all there; I'd heavily recommend this game to play with friends.
This is an amazing port to PC for both Windows and Linux players, this is a must play if you love JRPGs.
Unlike Soul Hackers 2; it seems like Atlus has cared to make this game work on Linux, there are no visual issues or gameplay issues I can find.
40 FPS Cap
Out of the whole 120 hours, I never had a single crash on my deck; but had a few on my desktop; unsure what the reason is for that; but overwise an amazing experience all around.
Amazing time with friends; high recommend.
Sometimes my mic wouldn't work upon launch; just cycling between mics seemed to fix the issue.
Fullscreen wouldn't keep my mouse in the game when I tried? Windowed worked perfectly fine however.
The only issue with the mulitplayer was the mic issue; but it's a quick and easy fix.
Amazing emulator frontend; I use it mainly on steam to track hours and cloud saves between my other computers.
Installed MelonDS DS, LRPS2, and Citra cores from standalone.
Really depends on your connect with how stable RPT is; if your internet is good, it's fantastic.
If you're not one to care for nerdy things like playtime tracking then standalone will be better; you get more core options natively/easier; but all the cores in standalone can be brought over to here; Dolphin is the only core I'd recommend against since I've had stablility issues before. But Citra, MelonDS DS and LRPS2 work and run amazingly!
Fantastic time to play with buds.
Mulitplayer has some issues, but it's the games fault, not the Proton layer, as all of my friends using Windows had the same issues.
I highly recommend to use the ingame voice chat (which worked perfectly with no further set up needed), play late at night, and turn off the lights. It's probably some of the most fun I've had in awhile.
After beating each stage; the game would hitch for a moment while loading the act clear info; unsure what casues this.
Was able to play the entire game in Linux with 0 issues on both a desktop and Steam Deck; with 0 mods.
SADX as a whole isn't a great port; but with BetterSADX it makes it one of the best Sonic games.
WINEDLLOVERRIDES="d3d8.dll=n,b" %command%
Installed BetterSADX
A very loud crackling sound (even at 45% volume it peaked my headphones) would play; not enough to ruin the game; but it'll scare the hell outta you when it first happens.
Had use the launch command stated to get Lanturn Engine to work or else it'd crash upon entering Casinopolis (Sonic Story).
BetterSADX is the best way to play this game; SADX on Steam is a broken mess of a port and isn't as enjoyable as using the mods to restore the OG Dreamcast experience; if you don't want to mod the game using protontricks; I'd just play the Original Dreamcast game.
WINEDLLOVERRIDES='dinput8.dll=n,b' %command%
DirectX9 used in this game really really hinders it's performance; using HMM to install DX11 is a must for this game to run at it's fullest and just in general perform much, much better.
The online time trails mode is completely broken; you're lucky to get more than 2 levels completed before the game will close out; it hasn't been fixed in years and I don't see a fix coming any time soon.
Installing HMM (HedgeModManager) is completely optional but if you do install it, getting the DX11 mod and BetterFxPipeline are two essentials for getting the game to run much better. (Launch command is required for the game to detect the mod loader.)
Most Proton versions worked 100% fine; I used this Proton GE version at the time of writing due to it being the latest.
I'd recommend getting this game sooner than later if you're still on the fence aobut it; due to Sonic x Shadow Generations releasing, and judging what they did with Origins; this game might get delisted soon and over a decade of user created content will be locked to this version of the game most likely.
Ran like a dream; no complaints here.
No problem with playin em at all. All 4 games and 12 emulated game gear games run great.
Works very well, while there are visuals missing, the core game is still very very intact, any megaten fan will have a good time.
Most of the special effects aren't working, so battles aren't super visually interesting, and some visual flair on the main map area aren't present, such as the eyes on the enemies and the teleport visual are completely missing.
I had to force Proton Experimental, as Proton-GE wouldn't allow me to go above 60 FPS. (tested with GE-Proton7 37 when last tested.)
Both X-Input and D-Input controllers worked perfectly with the game as well, had no issues with the game not detecting my controller. But Keyboard feels slightly better personally, can't put my finger on it, but something does feel off when using a controller, feels a little clunky.
Works perfectly out of the box in VR; most media issues seemed to be fixed with GE-9-25.
Voice Chat works just fine.
