After installing dotnet45 through protontricks mods were also possible by manually installing BSIPA and all of your mods.
Running the native Linux client of the game is a better experience. The only downside is, that achievements will not be reported to Steam
Valve's Steam Deck testing recommends using Proton for this game. In my testing that causes severe stuttering. The only reason to use Proton is to track your achievements in Steam. But you can just start the game using Proton once, which will collect all the achievements in Steam, and then switch back to Linux native builds.
env MANGOHUD=1 VKD3D_CONFIG=dxr11 VKD3D_FEATURE_LEVEL=12_1 %command% -skipStartScreen
Installed LAVFilters
Some videos (notably network ones) fail with "Unsupported format". I tried the DeoVR demo videos and some mkv files from my DLNA Server
Make sure "Unity player" and "DirectShow" are both disabled (Settings -> Developer)
Uninstall Mono via the GUI and install net40 and dinput, like others showed before
Use latest Proton (4.11-12 in my case). There is a native Linux client, which does not work for me.
I played the whole basegame and parts of the DLC without any hiccups. Overall good experience
Playing this on Sway.
Using fullscreen of the game sometimes had parts of the window "cut-off". Using my keyboard shortcut Meta+F to exit fullscreen and re-fullscreen the window fixes it for me.
My monitor is 1440p@144Hz I was playing the game at 1080p with mixed settings. Some areas reached up to 80FPS but most of the game was around 60FPS for me. I would have preferred more, but it was more than playable.
I was running the game on Sway (Wayland) and PipeWire. Apparently PulseAudio might introduce lip-sync issues. Can't confirm with PipeWire!
Mouse input is glitchy sometimes. Is very playable, graphics settings are on medium only
6.14-GE-2 GloriousEggroll
Proton 6.14-GE-2 to fix videos in-game (like in tutorials)
I couldn't get the game consistently above 60 FPS no matter what I did
I couldn't get Stracker's Loader working, as I was not able to install Visual C++ 2015-2019. Therefore performance optimization mods also didn't work. I am unsure why it fails to install VC2019.
All in all very solid experience
When playing with controller I can't get the mouse away. It is shown all the time almost. Also the control legend switches between keyboard and controller all the time. Apart from that zero issues.
Certain actions like sprinting, jumping or chopping wood cause the audio to crackle and stutter.
Certain actions like sprinting, jumping or chopping wood cause the game to stutter around 10 fps for about a second until it's fine again.
Got it starting on my RX 6800 XT, but couldn't get into the title screen
env RADV_PERFTEST=rt %command%
With mesa-git and RADV_PERFTEST=rt I was able to launch the game and get past the "GPU unsupported" error. But I wasn't able to reach the title screen
I installed dotnet45 with protontricks. dotnet40 may be sufficient as that gets installed with dotnet45, too.
Stuttering. May be improved by tweaking graphics settings.
Runs only with PROTON_USE_WINED3D11=1 %command%. Lights are buggy, performance is lower than on Windows
Black screen since the Challenge Mode Update. All tweaks do not fix this problem.
Works pretty okay-ish.
Game is sluggish when Async-Reprojection is off
Game runs fairly poorly, using any Proton version
Some weird translucent fog appears in front of the motorcycle
Game ran at around 30FPS
It crashes after a few minutes of playing
Worked pretty well for me after using a community controller mapping with Valve Index and Knuckles
The game needs pretty low settings to run smoothly. I can't really say if it's the game itself or Proton
Game window appears with a black screen and closes after a few seconds. Nothing displayed in HMD
Some transparent textures might not work right in mirrors. Not sure if this is exclusive to Linux
The game runs very slow. Though the game also tends to be very slow on Windows as well so there might not be much of a difference
This game causes a GPU reset on my end very rarely
Some video players do not work on Proton. Follow the issue on GitHub for more details!
Both VR and Desktop mode work fine on my end. I had no issues with Easy Anti Cheat (EAC). Only some video players on some maps are broken (the ones using AVPro). Check the GitHub Issue for VRChat to see the current progress on that.
Couldn't get it running with any Proton version (including 5.9-GE-8-ST)
After installing dotnet462 via protontricks. I was able to start it up, but was not able to log in.
