Works well
Audio would not work without beta
Unplayable for me if I do not change to beta release or proton, because of no sound, which... In a rhythm game is pretty much required. But on those two, it worked flawlessly. Still, however, works very well.
gamemoderun %command% -nosplash
This game is old as hell anyway, I was suprised it worked for me.
WINEDLLOVERRIDES="xaudio2_7=n" %command% -nosplash -skipIntro
Changed registry keys
For a working game, read the guide by pngu. Multiplayer does not work, sadly.
DRI_PRIME=1 WINE_FULLSCREEN_FSR=1 PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 gamemoderun %command% -noSplash -skipIntro
if you use windowed fullscreen, the game refuses to work
Cannot add profiles from the previous PC, the game automatically crashes
The experience is horrible, when it comes to performance
Game crashes if it has too many mods to load at first. For example, if you subscribe to 100 mods, then after the launcher opens it will load mods for several seconds and then crash.
It works worse than on windows by, like, a lot. It has performance problems on windows, and on linux there are even more of them.
DXVK_FRAME_RATE=75 gamemoderun %command% -cpuCount=6 -noSplash -skipIntro -world=Stratis -enableHT -hugepages
Shadows and other shaders do not render fully correctly, but it is diminishible
Just like Windows!
Improved performance after I reviewed many months ago. Does not need ANY launch arguments to run, too! Marvellous, simply. My arguments are for improving performance, not sure if it changes much overall. Generally speaking, it works great.
I could not get the native version to run, although the version on Proton ran fine (but I had issues which I solved by realising I somehow forgot wine-mono
... bruh. But! This means wine-mono
is REQUIRED or it will not run in any capacity, unlike other games!)
Great game and great native experience
Worked amazingly well on native. Had no problems. Controller detection was flawless and installing mods through everest worked as well.
Just like on Windows
Worked just like on Windows, maybe even better, cannot compare the current hardware. Nonetheless no problems there.
The game has some performance and windowing issues using the Native version, but it is still playable. However, I recommend using Proton anyways - it fixes some issues and makes the game even more playable.
Worked alright (last time I played)
I forgot I played this on linux but I did. Last time it worked flawlessly.
Works amazingly on proton. Sadly the native experience is terrible and unenjoyable. I do not reccommend using the native version of ETS2, as it is really terribly optimized and run very bad. Switch to proton if you want a flawless experience.
Good to play even without proton.

Sometimes stops working and crashes
Switch to the chromium beta or else it won't work. Also, use https://github.com/solsticegamestudios/GModCEFCodecFix for several fixes - menu, audio etc.

protontricks 65540 directmusic
There are several issues that I personally had to address, including audio, crashing and videos without tinkering.
Here are the steps to fix EVERYTHING (as I did it):\
- Change the beta branch to [workshop], set default launch option as [Play mod launcher].
- Run at least once; close immediately.
- Run command
protontricks 65540 directmusic
. - Go to your prefix in compatdata; should find a file named
user.reg
, open it in a text editor. - Find line with
[Software\\Wine\\DllOverrides]
and add the following under it:"ddraw"="native,builtin"
**Also remove this line:**"*dsound"="native"
\ - Install the following mods:\
- Union
- Ninja
- Gothic 1 Community Patch
- Mss32.dll
- Game should now work properly, somehow.
Optional (QoL)
- Install GRawInput: https://github.com/SaiyansKing/GRawInput/releases
With all this done, I had not experienced any issues. It should all work properly now, this way.

Some changes to .ini files, optional, will not be listed here;

With all this done, I had not experienced many issues. It should all work properly now, this way. Although mind that alt tab does not work for me properly.
I played it a bit, didn't have any issues, not even with controller detection.
Very good
Did not have any lag or issues playing with my windows pardners
Worked very well, although I have no direct comparison of my experience in Windows, it ran very well on Linux, and I had no issues whatsoever.
PROTON_LOG=1 %command%
It works pretty great. I switched to experimental but it possibly works okay on normal proton. No tinkering is really required, at least for me. A very good experience!
Works OOTB, flawless
Game just works, also mods can be installed without any issues whatsoever. Very good experience, to say the least.

Game crashes if you alt-tab out the game, you have to keep on the window at all times.
The only problem is the windowing and alt-tab issue. It is a pain but I could live with it. The game worked pretty well except for that. My launch arguments are for the widescreen fix. They shouldn't be needed without that.
Jesus Christ there are so many reports I am SHOCKED
Amazing game and amazing mods
When alt tabbing it would, I dont know how to describe it, lag out? Nonetheless, this might be related to wayland or pulseaudio, very likely
The native version is good, however, playing on proton is advised for mods; While the base game and dlcs work without issue on native, mods will lack fonts, so it is advisable to use proton for those.
Nothing wrong
Detects all movements and that stuff... Does anyone even read this? This is a game about nothing...
Could not open the spellbook on default proton for some reason, so changed to experimental. Might have been a temporary issue.
Sometimes, I feel bad for the orcs. Except... not really.

But the bandwidth it takes is so big, everything feels like it's completely unstable and laggy; I don't know why, it takes up all my bandwidth practically.
gamemoderun %command%
Unexpected small fps drops, but still perfectly playable
It might have some problems installing the EA App at first, but it should work great otherwise
As always, they added an anticheat that doesn't support linux and do not allow me to play this game anymore... what a shame this studio is
Best support
Valve has made a very good native experience. Controller worked flawlessly. No input lag or any other stuff. No bugs or issues.
Love this game
Native has no issues, installed workshop mods etc. and played a few beatmaps. Works very well, no issues.
Another shining example of native support
Works without issue. Game does not support controllers, but I could bind controller buttons to some actions. Nonetheless I did not use it much, but it works, not sure about Windows. Does not have any problems and everything worked fine.
Proton works flawlessly and it is a great experience. You can also run it with OpenXray which allows for a NATIVE Linux experience.
I build OpenXray with my script and play like that. No need for Proton here.

It just worked, without any issues
The same as the title. It had no issues whatsoever.

To change FPS simply check this guide on PCGW
Works pretty well with some configuration changes since this game is forced 30 FPS at default
Alt tabbing gives black screen (the game, not whole) and sound plays but cant play the game itself
Do.Not.Alt.Tab.

Dont alt tab
Alt-Tabbing produces a black screen; sound works but unplayable (and uninteractable)
Alt tabbing gives you a black screen; bad idea!
LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib32/libtcmalloc.so.4 %command%
Game works fine on proton. However, on native I had to do some tinkering. For arch that was:
- Installing "steam-native-runtime".
- Installing "lib32-gperftools" from the AUR.
- Launching steam-native
- Adding the above launch options.
Game ran fine afterwards. Beforehand, it wouldn't boot.
Doesn't seem to work on the normal steam, only on the native one.
Couldnt find the reason tho
Pretty great considering it is not native and is made on the gothic engine (which, normally, would require a hundred fixes)
Native Linux version malfunctions, cant start the game properly, need to use Proton
I did not play much but works!
Amazing
If you launch the game and use the mouse/keyboard, you will not be able to use your controller as your main input device, and vice versa. Is not a big issue, since the game restarts fast.
Other than the input issues there are no problems. Game works well and great.
