Alt-Tabbing produces a black screen; sound works but unplayable (and uninteractable)
Alt tabbing gives you a black screen; bad idea!

Proton-GE has extra features so it may prevent some issues.

Enable virtual desktop in protontricks
For some reason, when playing in desktop mode the game freezes after minimizing, making in impossible to expand and continue playing (this is not only true for Steam Deck). To solve this problem, you need enable virtual desktop through protontricks in the game prefix settings, after which the problem disappears. In gamemode this problem does not exist
Aparat from what is dispacribed above, otherwise there are absolutely no problem

Didnt launch with multiple monitors

Works fine
Switching window causes game to freeze
40 fps lock
It just works out-of-the-box
Works right out of the box.
Alt-Tabbing won't let you return to the game.

Al momento de cambiar la resolución mientras se juega el scroll hacia arriba en el mapa deja de funcionar, volver a la resolución original no arregla nada.
Works right out of the box! Multiplayer not tested.

It runs great out of the box, no tweaks required
the screen turns black after you alt-tab

(GOG version) Works good
Played GOG version with Proton 7.0-1.
Works out of the box.
The game starts on a weird resolution and the menu buttons are out of place, but once you fix the resolution everything seems to work fine.
Works out of the box.
Alt+Tabbing without virtual desktop will leave the game black upon restoring the game.
Other than the mouse issue, everything worked out perfectly
Moving your camera view by dragging mouse to screen borders didn't work for right and bottom borders of the screen. it's not crucial since you are also able to move your camera with arrows or click at the minimap
I recommend it
When we trying back to game after a minimize a game game not responding and we need to close it
No noticeable differences between Win 10 and Ubuntu.
For an older game, this runs so much better than I expected.

Doesn't launch at all
Hitting Play leads to the "Starting..." popup from Steam but then it just goes back to Play with nothing. I do have a triple monitor setup that seems to confuse Steam pretty badly sometimes.
Didn't seen any differences in performance between Windows and Ubuntu.

Works out of the box, no problems what so ever

Played single player campaign and custom maps. No issues.

Game runs perfectly as long as you don't Alt-tab it.

Working perfectly out of the box.

The game runs very well. As noted above alt tabbing crashes the game. This problem can be fixed with winecfg, and enabling virtual desktop. If you don't have an independent wine installation to run winecfg, take a look at this answer to use steam's wine to open winecfg: https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/24#issuecomment-423790228 - After this, simply enable virtual desktop in the graphics tab and changing windows will no longer crash the game. Gold simply because alt tabbing is essential to enjoy old games, so the the tweak is necessary.

Minimizing the game causes instant crash. Requires "steal my focus" Gnome extension to start on Gnome Shell, otherwise minimizes on start and crashes.

Works perfectly unless you minimise the game. When you minimise it the game will not go full screen again and you have to exit the game.

Starts without a problem. Completed the first two missions: runs smoothly.

Multiplayer does not work. DirectPlay seems to not be available
