Deleted ALL compatdata files and switching to Proton 6.3-8 for the EA install
Switching to any version, using any options did not work. Deleting ALL files from compatdata (CAREFUL: first save folder /steamapps/compatdata/xxxxxx/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/Documents/Electronic Arts/ if you want to keep your game), only then, switching to 6.3-8, running the install, switching back to GE9-27 and it works. Trying now with my saved game (copying back the folder in the new path): ......... it works!!!!

Tried Proton 4,5,6,GE...
None works, with or without some options listed by some users here. Proton 4 and 5 start the install of EA but with an error (no details on that error) 6 start the install, seems to work, but does not launch the game GE does nothing

Does not work
Launches preparing game window which eventually closes leaving two black square windows which do not close when clicking stop in steam.
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command% --skip launcher

Need to followd hogsy's tip: The EA App launcher fails to launch until you select an older version of Proton (i.e., 6) Once it's installed, you can switch back to the latest Proton version.

runs very well, was able to create my favourite sim called anadius without any problems

Use Proton Experimental for opening EA App at first execution, then use any other proton version to run the game.
Gets stuck at the mandatory EA Play setup, can't progress further than that, even when trying something like the FOEA patch.

The game doesn't launch because of EA App crashing on start.
Because of that you need to install Origin first on a The Sims 4 prefix from the link on https://github.com/p0358/Fuck_off_EA_App - the easiest way to install it is to replace The Sims 4/__Installer/Origin/redist/internal/EAappInstaller.exe
with Origin installer file.
After that, get the FOEA patch installer from the same link as above and install it while checking the "Pretend EA App is installed" option. (Just so you won't have a further problem of Steam trying to run EA App installer)
At the end, put the launch options command and you should be able to run The Sims 4 fine.
In short, EA doesn't like Linux players.
works great, minor tweaks. skipping launcher was definitely the key to getting it running
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command% --skip launcher

The EA App can be quite jank at times.
All mods work perfectly without any tinkering, GShade/Reshade works with abit of work (although it does come at the cost of some performance), Both the EA DLC unlocker and Sims 4 Updater by Anadius are fully functioning and can be set up on a legit copy of Sims 4 being played on a Steam Deck, or so I'm told.

Como outros disseram, o EA App parece só instalar com Proton 7. Depois disso, é possÃvel retornar para outras versões, como GE, para jogar

.
Wine-staging
Bought thru EA so couldn't use steam. Game ran flawlessly as long as wine-staging and dxvk was installed.

Had to switch to proton experimental. Game itself works fine with different versions of wine/proton, but EA launcher was crashing at first which made it imposible to play
Requires using Proton experimental or it just wont run, but runs fine with experimental.

Steam compiles the shaders and nothing. Steam shows that I'm in game, but not even a second later steam says that I'm not playing at all.
Game crashes before I can see the window

EA Launcher kept crashing
Online connection didn't work because EA Launcher kept crashing
- Install GE-Proton 7-43 and install the game
- Set GE-Proton 7-43 as the used Proton version, open the game to install EA App
- Switch to Proton 9.0-3, relaunch the game to log in to EA
EA app kept crashing, not allowing online features. This may be mitigated by using a different version of Proton? This worked on Nobara, but I was getting similar issues on Arch and Debian based distros.

Works just fine through Steam
Other players reported issues with EA launcher, but it seems this does not apply to the steam version.

Cannot bypass EA app
Attempted to run through EA app with Lutris, but would not install correctly
Tried the following:
- switching to older proton versions to try and get EA app working
- switching back to newer proton versions
- installing EA app via Lutris
Not working even though I tried Proton Hotfix, 9.0, 7.0 and 6.3. Always hanged at 'Running install script ()'

Completely flawless experience, runs perfectly with zero tweaking or configuration required.

Runs fine with no tinkering
Installed Sims 4 with Anadius' tools and mods+cc, game runs without a hitch. Note that you must install the .deb version of Steam instead of the snap version as Anadius' tools won't detect the game with the latter version.
Also, regarding mods, TS4 on Ubuntu 24.10 will not launch if mods are installed one folder deep (that is the /The Sims 4/Mods/[another folder]). You need to unpack all .packages and .ts4script into the base Mods folder for things to run.
To successfully run the EA installer, Proton 6.3-8 must be selected first. After the installer finishes, it will hang with 100% CPU use. Use steam to stop the game. Then switch to 9.0-3 or other recent version to play the game.
If you have previously tried to launch the game with a new Proton version, you must rename the folder steamapps/compatdata/1222670 to start afresh.

Game won't run because the EA app refused to install
I Was unable to play the game, every time I tryied the EA app would open and close. The closest I got to running the game was when I used proton 7, but I couldn't login because the app wasn't showing anything. I even tryied to install the EA app through lutris, but it didn't work.

Out of the box experience
Looks like Sims, plays on Linux. Not sure why I wasn't bothered by Origin. It seemed to just run in the background without ever logging in.

No dice with 7.0-6, 9.0-3, Experimental, Hotfix, or GE 9.20
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
Doesn't work in Lutris either
Tried for hours to get the game to run either inside or outside of Steam. I can't even get the EA launcher to launch when using Lutris.

Works after initially starting game with proton 7 and than switching to a higher proton version.
I had to use proton 7 to be able to install this game due to the EA app. Once the EA app is installed you can than chose any proton version above 7 and the game starts and runs perfectly fine.
Only works on left-most monitor. Unable to change monitors.

Everything good, no tinkering needed.

At first launch need to use proton at 6.3-8 to get trought EA stuff. After the EA account setup close the game and switch to latest proton to play the game.
Tinkering is mandatory to get it to run

For the first start you need to switch to the proton 6.3-8 version. After the EA Launcher installation you need to stop the game via Steam. Switch to proton 9-11 and enjoy the game

It worked
I forgot everything else, but its functional!
Install "Ea App" and install game on steam, but not open game.
