Mouse likes to escape the screen.
Random slowdowns and hitches occasionally.
Recommend experimental or proton 9.0-4.
Overall it runs and it is playable, but the annoyances have led me to playing this on windows over my Linux setup.
Cursor escape is a frequent issue.
Experienced extreme slowdowns. Have tried various versions of proton but experimental seems to work best for me.
Works great, all settings absolutely cranked. No tinkering needed.
After not playing the game for a while and changing my setup dramatically, I did receive a warning about my save file possibly not working. I am pleased to inform you it was a false alarm and the save worked great. Error went away after saving again.
Rip and tear until it's done.
On occasion I experience some audio crackles. Not a frequent issue.
Works great.
Overall works very well. I experience particle bugs after 1-2 games that require me to relaunch the client.
While running via proton experimental, game will start to have visual bugs on particle affects, usually after playing 1 or 2 full matches. Requires a game restart to fix the problem. Seems to happen on multiple proton versions.
Zero issues. Works out of the box, proton tinkering not needed in my case.
Buttery smooth baby.
In my experience, game was unplayable on experimental. Works great on Proton 9.0-4.
The performance issues with this game also apply to my Windows install. It is a complete unoptimized mess.
Crackling audio at times. Not very frequent.
There appears to be a crazy memory leak with the game and a problem with how it reserves vram. It was showing I had 20 GB of vram reserved, after I lowered the settings to high it corrected itself. Given my hardware there shouldn't be an issue with running ultra settings. Another time during a zone transition that is effectively a cutscene as you can't skip it, my frames suddenly dropped to 1-3fps and persisted until I restarted the game.
Proton hotfix and experimental have yielded better performance.
Controller support can be spotty at times, I needed to disable steam vulkan shader caching to play the game.
Frequent issues with controller, often requiring a restart of the game for it to detect my controller again. Occasionally if I cross my fingers unplugging my controller and plugging it in again will detect the controller.
If steam vulkan shader caching is enabled the game will freeze my entire system on start, when disabled the game will run with no issues.
This doesn't appear to be a frequent issue, but I needed to disable steam vulkan shader caching to play. (Running proton 5.13-1)
DX12 in game settings. Switching to Vulkan kills my fps.
Forced experimental but using proton 9.0-4 works fine as well, experimental just gave me more juice from the squeeze.
Overall works great out of the box. Frame generation is a little iffy.
Some audio crackling has been observed.
I believe this is universal, but serious slowdowns in settlements. In the open world performance is relatively stable at ultra settings.
Not a linux issue perse, but the game has many quest breaking bugs (have not extensively tested since the major update yesterday and today 2/13 and 2/14/2025)
Most bugs related to stalker 2 are mirrored to Windows as well. You will have largely the same experience and problems on windows (except for the small audio crackles in my experience).
Works great out of the box.
After a 6 hour session I encountered minor audio hissing that required me to relaunch the game to resolve. Not a frequent issue, has only happened once.
Only bugs encountered seem to be game bugs, such as city states disappearing from the map. No bugs related to linux as far as I can tell.
I have not tested multiplayer, but so far everything is working perfect out of the box, no tinkering. No proton.
Works great out of the box, no tinkering, no hassle.
Works great, go play the CoD Zombies clone!
Runs great out of the box, no tinkering at all.
In a 4 hour session I haven't experienced any crashes or slowdowns. Runs really well at max settings.
On steam recommended proton I experienced random slowdowns that resolved once I switched it to Proton 9.0-4.
