Both hosting and joining is working without issue
Steam magnifier did not work like it was supposed to
Maybe optimize battery life as suggested by other reviewers
Black screen after launch, not responsive
Couldn't get it to run
-windowed
Game window not to scale with actual window
I couldn't get it to run after a few tries. Had to restart Steam and the PC a couple of times before it ran on its own.
Set the MTU of my WiFi connection to 1452 bytes
Uplay might not connect after the intial login / 2nd factor authentication. Two common workarounds are available: go to desktop mode and 1) use a VPN ; 2) or set the MTU on your wifi to 1452 bytes. Both are valid solutions and let you log in during desktop mode. I could not persuade Uplay to go online launching from Deck UI, so save sync was not available.
Might show keyboard prompts instead of controller
Cloud save sync won't work while Uplay is offline
sudo ip link set dev wlan0 mtu 1452
I've only given it a minute or three. But it seems to run just fine
Works out of the box
Strong start into a new take on the classic adventure puzzle. Very much enjoyed these first few minutes!
Enable DXVK and VKD3D in the Wine Extensions tab of the game settings @ Heroic Games Launcher
Change in-game graphics preset to "steam deck"
Not quite happy with the graphical performance. Even the steam deck preset seems to tax the device a lot
Borked. Menu won't load.
WINEDLLOVERRIDES="winmm,version=n,b" %command% --launcher-skip --intro-skip -skipStartScreen
after things did not work, I followed instructions to install missing DLLs
I tried the following things: Downgrade Proton, install GE, install DLLs with Protontricks, launching with Heroic instead of Steam, skip launcher. Nothing works. The game starts, shows the initial "Cyberpunk" video, and freezes within the CD Project Red brand video. Works fine on Windows on the same computer.
Out of the box experience -- with the right hardware!
As I noted in my earlier reports, the game simply does not start on certain hardware (it would on Windows on the same system). However, this one ran fine! Proton 9.0-3 is the version of today.
Today's version suffers from frequent disconnections when playing as client on a friend's multiplayer game.
I can confirm the recently reported problems with game startup. GE seems to fix this reliably. The issue with disconnections during multiplayer remains.
Recently played on Proton 7.0-3 provided by Steam.
What a lovely game. I enjoyed that very much. Unfortunately, it doesn't start right out of the box. But with Proton 9 (GE) there were no issues at all.
Switch to Wine-GE-Proton7-43
There are small deadzones on the left and right side of the screen. They won't hurt the experience if you stick to button controls.
I recommend very much playing this one on the Steam deck!
-provider Portal
The game is all there and very playable. The distribution provided by Steam might become my favorite way of playing them game!
Changed in-game bindings as per instructions
I've played through the first mission with the vanilla controls and wasn't quite comfortable with those. The community layouts have great ideas. I'm sure that GW2 will come along on the Steam Deck, if the developers put in the effort.
Program hangs on exit
I couldn't get it to install with Heroic Game launcher, so I ran Epic Game Launcher from Lutris with defaults. The game starts just fine and the game runs smoothly. The only issue I had was when trying to exit the game. Upon quit from the main menu, the game hung. After a while, a prompt appeared and I terminated the program with the prompt.
Controller bindings conflicted with Steam Desktop Mode
On-screen keyboard not working as expected
Can't install via Heroic. Installed via Lutris and Epic Games Launcher in Desktop mode. I had mouse clicks bound to the LB and RB so the game sometimes confused mouse and gamepad input. All in all, it runs smoothly, if you can work around the missing on-screen keyboard.
not sure what went wrong, but some savegames went missing after cloud sync
Menu was unresponsive at times. Reducing resolution and graphics helped.
Use GE7-21 on Heroic Games Launcher to run this.
This game was clearly designed for large screens and a mouse. It will work, but it's not the addictive experience that you might get from playing it on the desktop.
Slight frame drops during first session. Goes away on second session.
Works out of the box with DirectX 12 (recommended by the game launcher, too). Vulkan and DirectX 11 did not work for me.
Proton-5.9-GE-6-ST GloriousEggroll
Game does not start reliably. I try multiple times to start the game, but it will start eventually.
Install Proton-5.9-GE-6-ST or try one of the other Proton versions. The default version does not allow you to download the files.
Works right out of the box. Tune down graphics if you experience frequent frame drops.
Out of the box experience
Looks like Sims, plays on Linux. Not sure why I wasn't bothered by Origin. It seemed to just run in the background without ever logging in.
--force-opengl
Controller worked fine after installing with Heroic Games Launcher and GE. Epic Games under Lutris did not recognise controller inputs although the controller itself was detected.
Using heroic to install from Epic; add this startup option: --force-opengl
Started playing the Epic store version with Heroic with no problems at all. Seamless! Proton was "Wine-GE-Proton8-26" as provided by Heroic.
